There's a young girl I babysit a lot, and she has really bad anxiety.
Like, she's not even 8 yet and she has a therapist.
It's always a struggle to get her to fall asleep without her parents, and I've been sitting here on her bedroom floor, waiting for her to fall asleep with Cavetown songs playing for the past half hour, and I've tried all sorts of other music before, but I think this is one of the fastest times she's ever fallen asleep.
I have Post-Trauma induced anxiety and I do the same.

My dad is or "was" a drug addict all my life, he fourced my mom into it, so my life has been pretty shit. He mentally abused us, yelling at us, telling us he hated us. He did hit my mom a few times, one of thoes times he used steel toed boots and hit her over the back of her head while she was turned around. They where always fighting, yelling. Because of his addiction and the fighting we had to move very often. Shelters, motels, hotels, tents, our car, all places we stayed. (One of the shelters gave me mersa) its also kinda funny how my grandmother, someone he hurt and abused aswell chose him over us. but all of this, all the hurt he's put us through is somewhat over. I say somewhat because i now have servere depression, anxiety, and slight paranoia, i used to be scared of grown men because of him. We went to an abused womens shelter and they helped us, my mom quit all the drugs, and even smoking, now we have a home, something i never thought we could have. So if your life is shit, it will get better, 14 years of my life i consider waisted because of him, but im 16 (17 in november!!) now, and life has never been better.

I went through something fairly similar, but with my mom being an alcoholic. I am in a very very better place now with my dad and I am so so happy. I think as a guy I wanted to act tough and keep it all in when that was clearly unhealthy. I am also very happy you got out of your situation and that you are happy, you deserve a very bright future and for all your dreams to come true. People who go through tough battles are the strongest.♥️

My little sister died a couple years ago and I haven't been doing the best mentally ever since. She would be the only one to help me when I was feeling down, she was an amazing person and we can all learn a bit from her, but now she's gone. This song reminds me of her and her amazing comforting skills. I really miss her, so everytime I feel bad, I listen to this song and feel a bit better.

Both me and my best friend have depression and recurrent suicidal thoughts, but at least we are going through it together. It's relieving to know there's someone I can share everything with who understands me in every way possible, it makes me feel relatively safe and way less crazy, even when trying to be positive or more patient with myself doesn't work. This song reminds me so much of him since it's not always easy to bring me to talk about stuff, so he always tries to make me share my own troubles, and I can't help but smile a bit. I just hope I can be a good friend for him too, and I just hope we can learn happiness again as we stick together

my boyfriend has been through so much with me and helped me with dysphoria
we dreamed of so much together and our future, he said i changed him and he even got a better job for me.
on january 4th i broke up with my boyfriend and this was my comfort song when i cried at night. i realized it was a mistake and i wanted to fix things with him but it was too late, within a few days he was already with a friend i introduced him to around the beginning of the year. He doesn’t want to go back with me even though he really did love me. Yet he told said "friend" how badly he wanted to get over me. I dont understand it. He wanted to atleast stay friends but he stopped talking to me because i didn’t take it all well.
Now here i am on january 25th listening to this song because tonight i found out my stepmom died after she was in the hospital so long.

My parents used to constantly fight. One of the few memories I have of when I was a kid is my siblings and I hiding in the closet and my sister was covering my ears because my dad was screaming at my mom as throwing things. About a year later my older sister ran away and we were left with my abusive father and my poor mom. Eventually the got divorced and everything got a little better. He used to visit us every Wednesday and on the weekends we would go to my grandmas house and hang out with him. Then he married my abusive step mom and everything went down hill again. Now I’m 14 and we haven’t talked sense he kicked me out last week. My depression and anxiety have gotten a lot worse and I self harm a lot. Life is really shitty rn but it will get better.

Was just drawing while listening to music yesterday. Decided to play some Cavetown - I hadn't listened to his music in about 2 1/2 years. After a few songs this one came on and I stopped drawing and burst into tears. I've been feeling useless and annoying and like I don't deserve any love, this is reinforced by people reacting strongly in the opposite direction by saying all sorts of fluffy things. A few years ago I had a lot of anxiety and depression, and it's been coming back. When I was younger I always hated getting compliments because they felt so wrong and fake, which is why I hate fluff. I'm often told I am one of the most supportive people in the world but honestly I feel like I'm just a let down. Whenever I feel down and I try to reach out to others I often feel ignored or like everyone just kinda disappears. I don't know what to do. Sometimes I don't know if my smile is real or if I actually am happy.
edit: I'm doing a lot better right now. I discovered more about myself and my identity. I still have a way to go in some areas but I'm happier than ever

I showed this song to one of my friends because I knew she was depressed. She was the first friend I'd ever had and all I wanted to do was help her get through it so I could see her smile again. Not too long later she started going out with my toxic, abusive ex, and I tried to warn her, but she wouldnt listen. Over time, she got more and more hostile towards me, but I still wanted to be around her. Seeing her happy was all I wanted, even if it came at my expense. It's been a year and we arent friends anymore; I realised friends wouldn't treat me the way she did. It's still hard to listen to cavetown sometimes, but I'm trying my best to reclaim one of my favorite artists. ❤

Whenever my brain turns on the suicidal thoughts, or urge to self harm, I can turn on this song and drown it out for a while.
