Powder Snowboarding on Mt Rainier // Splitboarding

- Mt Rainier is a great spot for early season snowboarding. A little over 2 hours from Seattle and the PNW's most iconic mountain. Josh and I had been watching weather and snow reports for days leading up to this. The snow was to fall, the wind was to be minimal, and partly cloudy skies. Well we started in overcast and rode through sunshine and powder.
The gate at Longmire was closed when we arrived so after a short wait we were able to drive to the Paradise parking lot. With enough snow down low we were able to splitboard from the truck. After only a few short breaks I made it to camp Muir in 4.5 hours. I was the 6th person to make it to Muir. I enjoyed a Rainier beer on Mt Rainier per tradition then started my run.
The powder was great and it was about 7 to 10 minutes of straight snowboarding. Then after a while we had to be more cautious and look out for rocks. The beauty of the day was being able to ride back to the truck. SUBSCRIBE to catch the next one, Cheers.

Rest+alleviate= Relieviate? Makes sense to me.
I think i was trying to say relieve and alleviate haha
Insane vid! Been in the gym so I can strengthen up my legs... also got a pow board, so that should help too 🤙🏾

Lucky
Hard work but lucky to have the snow for sure 🤙
Dude I went to vail to snowboard the first time. It was epic. What is split boarding like?
Stoked you liked it! Splitboarding is amazing but a lot of work for a little riding. I highly recommend being a strong intermediate/advanced rider before starting. If you like exercise and snowboarding then i recommend pursuing it.
I get so sketched out being on Rainier without visibility. Muir snowfield is cool but so boring to ride. Your gopro footage looks crispy AF what settings are you running?
The visibility can change in a heart beat which is terrifying. I like Muir just because you get to ride for 5 miles straight which is freaking sweet. There's great tree runs tho if the visibility sucks we just pivot. Gopro 8 set at 4k 30 fps super wide hyper smooth on low light off white balance auto iso min 100 iso max 400
Were all the crevasses filled in already?
Yeah and it's snowed significantly since then. People have been riding nisqually chute
One more question lmao.Is there a place to splitboard next to crystal but not part of it? Tomorrow they stop all uphill travel and I really wanted to get some early season turns.
Yeah u would have to look into bullion basin but not sure on the coverage
What are those structures at the top? Warming stations? Stoner shacks?
Ha they're climbing huts where you can stay and acclimate to the elevation before summiting. They're closed right now due to covid.
I have a question if I buy a split board would I be able to head up or do I need a corse of some sort?Sorry for the dumb question.
U can go without a course but i highly reccomend taking an avalanche training course
@@snowboard-en ok thank you very much
@@5thgearfreak297 no worries
Imagine coming across a bear
I'd jump over it while petting it's head
