- In this episode, Rob shows us some of the up-close details of this iconic IndyCar World Series winning Lola T93 driven by back-to-back F1/IndyCar champion, and British hero, Nigel Mansell. They're a lot different to Formula One cars - take a look at how small the front and rear wing are!

I have a 1/5 scale bronze 200 lb. sculpture of this car . The #5s are 3/8" thick solid silver inlay .
I worked nr Silverstone and helped supply the relaying of Becketts corner in the mid 90s.
They used a material called Delugrip.
Very informative video, sadly the audio could do with some work.
New ones are on order :)
In my life as a racefan, I've only rooted for 2 Ford drivers ever & that was Davey Allison in NASCAR & Mansell when he drove this car for Newman Haas. Usually a strong GM guy, I was actually rooting for him to catch Emmo & win Indy but he smacked the wall late & that did him in allowing Arie to pass him at the end. Still though, he had a marvelous 1993 season & showed just how much better some Foirmula 1 pilots are than IndyCar when they come over to America. Paved the way for Zanardi & then Montoya later on...
Shame about monyoya and Schumacher injured seriously after leaving F1,and indycar.
Schumacher in a skiing accident, and Zanardi in a training accident whilst out in his hand pedal bike.
Both brave fighters but not either a fan of in racing more your scrapyard dog, and Hill, Coulthard, Webber.
Who remembers the dirt deviladverts in american magazines with mansell?
Honestly better looking with the road course aero.
Nigel wasn't just a back-to-back F1 and Indy car champion: He actually held the two titles simultaneously for one week (September 19 to September 26, 1993).
Gurney Flaps
Named in honor of Dan Gurney?
correct!
@@silverstonemuseum Sweet. I wonder if that was because of the crash he had
@@FoxxoIRL-ih3sm It was something Dan came up with during an Indy car test at Phoenix when his driver, Bobby Unser, wanted something to fix the aero balance. I seem to remember hearing or reading Dan got the idea from a similar lip on helicopter rotor blades.
@@tomanderson6335 oh that's cool
How about get a microphone that isnt totally shit? Its 2024 FFS.
one has been ordered :) we are a charity with limited resources!
the mandatory subtitles are both unnecessary and annoying.
Sooo people who are hard of hearing & cannot read lips shouldn't be able to know what the guy is saying?
