Hi, I got some questions lol. First of all thank u so much for the informative video, it's the best one I saw so far on the topic. Me and my american fiance are planning to get married and live together in Germany.
Once I get my bachelor's degree I plan to run away from home to get married with him (in 1.5 years). We still haven't decided whether to marry in Denmark or Germany since I heard the process is easier in Denmark but we'll definitely live in Germany.
I have dual citizenship (Croatia and Serbia) and once the law is passed I'll also most likely get a German citizenship since I lived here for almost a decade. I have to renew my Croatian passport that year anyway so that part isn't a problem. I also have pictures of my Serbian birth certificate and even my parents' marriage certificate, however those are very old and I'd need a new one that I don't know whether I can get within 90 days. Is he going to get deported if the shipping takes too long?
His documents shouldn't be a problem as he has his family's support and I told him to bring a passport, birth certificate, driver's licence and affidavit of illegibility to marry. I know the USA doesn't have Ehefähigkeitszeugnisse so not sure what we do about that. He's on disability benefits no matter where we live so he has enough income to support us both.
We are both debt free and have some savings, although his are definitely bigger.
I have a seasonal minijob which is in no way sufficient to support us both, and can only look for a full-time one after graduating so I'm wondering if that will be a hindrance considering he has enough income for us to live together?
We plan to first stay in a hotel, then book a cheaper place using the website Homelike, those also offer certificates of residence.
I also told him to learn German as he'll need the A1 certificate, I feel like 1.5 years should be more than enough for that since I myself got B1 in 4 months after moving here in middle school.
Is there anything else we need to pay attention to so we can marry and live together? They won't kick him out if the process takes a while longer right?

I have a series of questions and I hope you can help me with it ... I am an Iranian residing in Italy. A few months ago, my Italian fiancé started working in Berlin and changed his residence to Germany. We are going to get married soon and we wanted to change my residence to Germany with him. I have a series of questions regarding these explanations:
How long does it take to receive this visa?
How many documents are required for this visa?
When can I move to Berlin as a spouse with this visa?
Do I also need a German Language Proficiency document even if my partner is an EU citizen?
After receiving this visa, can I immediately enter the job market? Or can I start working while the visa process is in progress? thank you for guiding me in advance and helping us with solving this confusion.

I assume the requirement or criteria is different from people to people depending on the type of Residency one has in Germany.
eg.1. The Criteria for Blue Card holder maybe different from
    2. A person granted
    Asylum or a recognised
Refugee according to the Geneva convention doesn't need a invitation letter or
    3. Person having Permanent Residence .

Sorry, but you are mixing up visa with residence permit. A visa is required in order to enter Germany for certain nationalities; it must be obtained from the German Consulate of your home country.. A residence permit is required for all who want to stay for longer than 90 days, unless they are EU citizens. It must be obtained from the German immigration office (Ausländerbehörde) which covers your place of proposed residence in Germany.

    • @thephoebeway
      @thephoebeway  Před 3 lety

I am not mixing it up, Gerd.
If your type of entry permit doesn’t allow you to stay for 90 days, you’ll have to show why you need to stay in Germany for more than those 90 days. (Aufenthalt) so an American can visit for up to 90 days but once he is in his home country and plans to relocate Germany he needs a visa that will enable the residence at the Ausländerbehörde.
If he plans to stay for longer than 90 days he’d have to go back and prepare for it and come back.
Same way you can’t reside in Germany for longer than 90 days with a Schengen visa.
      I hope you understand now?
The reason why you’ll stay for longer period is either because of school, family or work.

I don't know if you're still taking questions but I'll throw it out there anyway.
"British citizens require a visa and/or residence permit for any stay beyond 90 days within any 180-day period. British citizens may apply to the local immigration office (“Ausländerbehörde”) for their residence permits after arrival in Germany and do not need to have obtained a visa prior to travelling to Germany" is the information I've found online. Is this true for joining your partner? I'm moving in August and want to apply for residency there but don't know what to prepare/take from this video.

It depends on your legal status in the country you’re living in.

Application has to start right away. The longer you wait, the more it’s assumed he can take care of himself.
You’ve to show why he needs to be in your care in Germany
