    My CFI had me do these in instrument training, which i'm still in, except he would make me do turns, climbs and descents and try to keep it at the standard 500fpm and standard rate turn. That was interesting to say the least.

    Great illustration of the spiral. I took one of those "learn to fly" lessons. The pilot let me do some turns and gain elevation. I should ask him about it. Maybe he could do a spiral (eyes open, of course) and me with my eyes closed to see if I can notice any changes.

      I would stay 10kts below Vfe with the flaps fully extended

    How far does the banking turn need to be before it becomes an unrecoverable?

      Everything is recoverable with enough hight
