- A Diver's Life teaches what we feel you need to do to prepare for diving in Raja Ampat. Raja Ampat is not for novice divers. We cover mental and physical preparation, safety devices, gear preparation, diving in current, split currents, dive guides, getting separate from the group, negative entries, and more. We show example dives we took including briefings and why the dives were done the way they were. Yes, there is beautiful underwater video as well. Get ready for some fun and we hope you will learn a few things they won't teach you in most standard diver training.

Very helpful advice for diving safety and enjoyment is contained in this video. As usual, Rich draws proper attention to the magnificent corals.
Thank you!

Thanks a ton for all the tips. I am a novice diver with 30 dives going to R4 this month. I am apprehensive that I might have chosen the wrong dive destination for a newbie like me. Well too late to change and trying to gather as much info as possible. Can't thank you enough for the video.
Glad I could help!
how did it go?
@@westindiestravel it was one of the best experiences of my life. The Currents were not bad also viz wasn't the best on half the Dives. Even in blue magic the currents were manageable. Raja Ampat is truly a paradise.
@@cetric26 Thanks for the reply. I am planning on going this summer for a week or so with about 10 dives under my belt. Anything I should worry about or any site in particular I need to hit?
Great video, Rich. As usual, very professional. I'll look into the SMB. The only reservation that I have is that I already have a camera, strobe, video light and a wet macro lens. It seems like more junk to hang off my BC and more equipment to get tangled. On the other hand, I don't want to be unsafe.
Thank you. I have one question: If you get separated from the group what is more important? You or your camera? I carried all that stuff too. Yes it is more junk but you don't want to get in trouble.
Separately, there was some critical information missing on diving in current that I will put in the next video. The IPhone teleprompter user interface had things close together and it scrolled by this critical information. Very frustrating.
Thank you Rich! I'm happy to see your manta image, It's superb. Your safety guidance is also very helpful for me. That inspired me to take a lesson to use the safety sausage. Now I need to find where to lean it. In my gym's pool with 7 feet depth, I think that it's not deep enough to miniplate SMB. Maybe I'll ask a dive master on the Thailand Aggressor during the next trip in April.
Hi Mitsuko. I am glad you liked it. 2 key points about diving in current were left out due to a technical glitch. They will be in the next video along with much more of that Manta and other goodies. I am sure the dive master will show you.
thanks for all the good info!!!
You are most welcome!

What a coincidence... I posted this picture today. Does it look familiar?
Cool! it looks like the same spot on Magic Mountain. How are you?
