We note that Specialized adopts a new naming strategy for the Epic models, introducing a number, in this case 8, to indicate the generation.
This move is somewhat reminiscent of the marketing techniques used by the iPhone and GoPro.
The Epic 8 S-Works is the most versatile XC MTB to date from the Californian brand, but unfortunately, this only applies to the premium model, the most expensive at €14500, because this model uses the brand new Flight Attendant suspension,
while the more affordable models, despite their more progressive geometry and SWAT storage compartment, have clearly suffered a setback because the Brain system introduced back in 2002 is completely removed at the expense of a 3-position remote control.
The S-Works Epic 8 model mounts the most advanced fork currently on the market from RockShox, namely the SID ULTIMATE Flight Attendant with 120mm of travel. An intelligent fork that houses the new Charger Race Day 2 cartridge with three compression positions (Open, Pedal and Lockout).
The Adaptive Ride Dynamics system learns the rider's riding style and adapts the suspension's response in a customised manner. If you want to learn more, you will find a link to a dedicated video in the description.
The Pro model is equipped with the RockShox SID ULTIMATE fork with 120mm travel, a very high-quality fork, the difference being that it is not electronic but can be locked via a manual remote control.
The Expert model mounts a SID Select+ with 35mm stanchions and Charger 2 RL cartridge. While the COMP mounts SID Select with Charger RL cartridge.
The top model has a SRAM XX Eagle SL Transmission electronic gearbox with built-in power meter, the Pro model also has an electronic gearbox, but this time X0, again with power meter, the Expert model has SRAM GX, again electronic gearbox but without power meter, and finally the COMP model has a GX Eagle manual gearbox.
The Specialized Epic 8 is a versatile XC MTB, capable of performing both on and off the track. Thanks to the storage compartment in the down tube and the RockShox Flight Attendant suspension fitted, however, only on the top model S-Works.
The Epic 8 S-Works is a great choice but incredibly expensive.
A good €14,500. Too bad the more affordable Epic models have lost some of their clever features, having to do without both the old Brain and the new (and better) Flight Attendant, and now relying on a remote control to open and lock the suspension. So if the top model is the most advanced on the market, for the Pro, Expert and Comp models in my opinion there has been a slight step backwards.
If I had to choose one, I would opt for the 9,500 Euro Pro model with SID ultimate fork and SIDLuxe ultimate suspension + electronic X0 drivetrain with power meter, an accessory that I consider fundamental for both training and racing.

Magari i modelli costosi costassero solo 4500k 🤣🤣 è quello che dovrebbero costare le bici di punta ....
Prezzi fuori ogni logica
le ruote top le monta solo la s-works..che ha il mozzo dt swiss 180 con cuscinetti ceramici....che pesano 1250gr.....
La PRO monta sempre ruote in carbonio Roval sl ma con mozzo dt swiss 350 con cuscinetti in acciaio e pesano 1500gr...
Ce anche Santa Cruz 120mm
Bici abbastanza performante, ma non il massimo, sempre diffetti si trovano, mtb completamente fisica, sempre serve salute e forma

Costo reale della bici 2.400 euro resto marketing e marchio , come iPhone, tempi di oggi bici completamente fisica non può costare così assolutamente, dipende da fisico pilota, bici ultima cosa, più divertente quando hai un stipendio di 1450 euro al mese di qui deve spendere 1300, quanti mesi serviranno per comprare una Epic?😂😂😂😂, quando finisci pagare già troppo vecchia, finita e svalutata, come successo con la mia Epic 2014
Io penso che più cose hanno e più si scassano e cmq una bici buona ci vogliono dalle 6 o 7000mila euro tutto il resto so chiacchiere basta far propaganda di tutti sti soldi per una bici .....
