I hate when people try to say Tom isn't the most "talented" QB. Physical talent isn't the only type of talent. Reading defenses, commanding the line of scrimmage, pre-snap adjustments, leadership, accuracy, decision making in high pressure situations, turning film study into game plans, keeping your body in peak condition... those are all talents. And yes he is the most talented, because at QB those are all more important than pure physical ability.

      @larrydunn4626 Před 3 lety +6

Well, no, he doesn't have it ALL. That's sort of the point of this discussion.... he has the most important things, but does not have the physicality -- not the best arm strength, not the best strength to shake off a sack, incredibly poor speed, and very poor jumping ability. But you don't need it ALL, you don't need the physicality.

Exactly. Very well said. If I know 100 people say one thing whose opinions I respect, but all of the great QBs say another, those opinions are all that end up mattering to me. I've found a good rule in life is to trust the experts. They won't always be right, but they'll be right FAR more often than the smartest people we know. And to clear anything up, ESPN analysts, by and large, are not the experts I'm talking about. One of Bradys most under appreciated Skills/Talent is SELF DISCIPLINE.
Being Disciplined Enough to throw the ball away, then take a sack or try to force it and get an INT.
Peyton lacked that Discipline and often threw INTs as a result.
Rodgers is so concerned about his stats, he will take a sack rather then throw an incompletion.

Right. I've been saying the same for years. He's the most patient QB I've ever seen. He's only ever had a long game one time in his career, and that was with Randy Moss. The rest of the time he picks apart the best defenses with short, precise throws that he waits patiently in the pocket to let develop. That year he took apart Seattle's defense, he never threw a pass more than 30 yards. And then his comeback game against Atlanta, unbelievable how ridiculously sharp he was.

I still remember the first time I saw Brady with the Patriots, after watching Eason and Bledsoe. My first thought was.....My God, this guy is so calm and quiet in the pocket. I couldnt believe it, he had no panic and no fear. To this day that quality is everything, all else emanates from this. Think about it....he will go for broke anytime, any situation, no fear. And then you just listen to the commentators....."OMG, I cant believe what just happened"!!!!!! Football is not for the faint of heart.

    • @redcarrot1148

Absolutely agreed. I recall in a pre-season game of his second year (before he played a single down in reg season game), his play action motion, quick read, accuracy, timing, command of the offense all stood out at an elite level. Those qualities were all the more remarkable in contrast to Bledsoe. I knew then it was just a matter of (short) time before he will replace Drew, whom I am a big fan of as well. The truth is TB12 built the Patriots offense and he was the system, not the other way around. If the Patriots system was all that, they would have been able to turn Bledsoe into a HOF and other QBs they have drafted since into pro-bowlers. And all their departed OCs would have at least been good OCs elsewhere (they haven't). Brady makes the entire system run. I am a life-long Pats fan and I am happy for Brady. I am a lesser Pats fan today than 15 months ago because of what they did to him after all he has done for us.

Considering Brett Favre played at a high level when he was in his 40s, I consider him a great choice to speak on this matter. His opinion carries a lot of weight. The points he made were spot on. I remember when people were talking smack about Tom Brady when they were 7-5. I was like as long as they make the Playoffs, and he has about 30 something TDs he's going to have a very successful season. They went 11-5, winning 4 next reg season games, and he got to 40 touchdowns, and minimal interceptions total. In another year, that's the MVP, especially seeing that they won the next 4 games and the Superbowl. If Rodgers and Mahomes didn't ball out this year, Brady is the MVP. And he might take that personally next year, recognizing his teams strengths and really ball out, ala 2007 all over again, next year, seeking his 4th MVP. I CAN'T WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR!

Tom Brady is a complete person. He is a leader and lives that role on and off the football field. He brings way more than talent to any team. He makes the team be their best

I'm a giants fan but I have to take my hat off and say he's the greatest to ever do it. After that win. Nothing to say but congrats and feel inspired. That's so amazing

"He's not the player he was." Right. He's better now. If you could transfer the wisdom he has today to the Tom Brady of 10 or 15 years ago, his barren stretch between Super Bowls 39 and 49 (rings 3 and 4) would look better (lost two Super Bowls to the Giants during those nine years). First decade in the NFL: 4 Super Bowl appearances, 3 rings. Second decade: 5 trips, 3 rings. Third decade: so far it's 1 and 1.

There is some great comments and rightly so. You know for 10 years every time Brady was featured I was like a magnet
gravitating to that game on TV. Same as Manning, Bret, Montana but their gone. Only Brady left. Thank goodness.
Look Brady attracts super players because they want to win the big one i.e. AB, Gronk and Fournette. I am going to drop this one on you.
and that is Odell Beck who wants to play with the great. And of course you have Edelman at beckon call . Great players gravitate to great players.
Did you ever miss a game with Mickey Mantle or Micheal J or Larry Bird all goats in their time. I did not

Yeah, GOATS in their time. It is a historical version of Hallowed ground. I still re-watch the Atlanta Super Bowl and Tom Brady and Edelman became legends that night. I wish Edelman was with him now. Edelman’s mental toughness rivals Tom’s. Nobody on the offense of Tampa has that right now other than Tom. He made Tom a better player just by being his best friend.

@@wishingb5859 Exactly the fact and you will never witness a better one two punch than the 13 to 3 win over the Rams for #6 in which Edelman received MVP and 162 yards
when the poor defensive backs whether cover 1 or 2 could not stop this guy. The "B" and "E" combination were on fire. Re Atlanta, yes when Patriots kick the field goal to go to 12 pts I told the gang in Laughlin at the Super Bowl party look out they are going to beat Atlanta. You could just feel the momentum and Edelman was again the man as was Amendola. If Godwin moves on AB will take his place and Miller will take the other wideout. OR Brady will make the phone call because I believe Edelman's contract expires and you know Belichick rather than franchise him he'll deal him out.

@@terrypaulson5945 You just made me shiver. Those games are the stuff legends are made of. Edelman would come and seriously transform that locker room almost as much as Tom has. Maybe more because those two men together take it up about 10 notches. It is almost like a chemical reaction. You could visibly see the mental moment the Atlanta game changed when those two men's minds connected.
