This is so accurate and exactly what I dealt with. It took me several years to quit blaming myself because he told me I was the problem and other really bad things it almost took my life. Im glad you're there for your son and understood this early on.
I tried to take the high road, but they twist reality to look like I'm doing things to them. This has caused me to lose friends, support, etc and then in defending myself, it looks like I am the problem. nightmare. It's all about "winning" for this person, and for me it is about peace, safety, respect. that people can't see the difference is disturbing.
I tried showing her the path. I gave resources and endless advice with no expectation of reimbursement. And yet, here we are, she acted out of ego and proved her disloyalty. Yes! This person is my narcissist with psychotic tendencies ex-husband. He has this ongoing competition with me that he will not let go of. I don’t even want to say what he wants to do to me. He squeezed a bottle of water in my face the other day while he was arguing with me... he said "f- you" as he squeezed it really hard and then when i didnt go crazy on him and i just stood there... he said "oh come on now it was just water! I was only lightening the mood." All of this is because when we argue i stand my ground and he doesnt like it at all.
