- This is Windows XP build 2542 (2542.xpclient.010811-1534) in VMware Workstation Pro. This is a pre-RTM build that was compiled on 2001-08-11 and expires 180 days after the original installation date. This build is known for having an activation period being increased from 14 days to 30 days and being the first build (as of the uploading of this video) to accept retail keys.
How I got this to run:
VMware Workstation Pro 16.2.3
Backwards compatibility set to VMware 6.5-7.0
OS set to Windows XP Professional
1 GB RAM
1 CPU Core
40 GB IDE HDD
VMware 6.5 display and VMCI drivers were used

Finally the first ever build that actually resembles RTM Windows XP So Nostalgic
Nah 248x range is when it started to resemble RTM. This is just the last build that is known to exist before RTM and it basically is RTM except the numbering is off as everything appears final and it uses XP RTM product keys.

This is real because the first windows server 2003 build we can see it's using win 2000 startup menu and more

Heck yes, this is when Windows XP was getting closer and closer to looking like its final release! Nice demonstration!
And, get this, it was compiled 6 days earlier than build 2600. Build 2600 was compiled on August 17th, then it was distributed to oems on August 24th. (That’s for everyone who thinks build 2600 was compiled on the same day it was released.)
This is a whole summary from Betawiki on this exact build so you don't have to. Activation grace period was increased from 14 to 30 days. Retail keys are now also accepted as valid product keys. This was all, pretty minor but it's for testers

It's about as close as you can get to an RTM without actually being the RTM, even though Windows Server 2003 jumped their build number to the 3500 range once XP went to the 2500 range. Server 2003 didn't get RTMed however until March 2003 before they hit general availability that April.
It's actually the last build before RTM and after the RTM, it's just new additions and service pack builds. Like I said in my comment, those are the only changes. And another fact:Windows XP build 2600.5512 is the last ever Windows XP SP3 build compiled on April 2008 and of course I did my research on betawiki.
@@MrRiceTech13 The dxdiag MIDI music was still the original even when XP became RTMed - later builds of XP especially Service Pack 2 and 3 would use flourish.mid for DirectX music.

I was impressed when my favorite Minecraft-themed shooter Pixel Gun 3D paid homage to this mythical OS and its precursor Win2K when it wanted to imitate Mac OS X Cheetah with the Candy theme being a copy of Aqua.
Is this build have a timebomb? I'm asking tho'
I always state it in the description. It's 180 days after installation. Doesn't matter what date you install it on, it will work but it's going to expire 180 days later. So if you install it today like I did, the timebomb would activate on 4 January 2025.
