Love your enthusiasm, care and love of your budgies. One thing I strongly disagree with your feeding regime is the highly excessive amount of fructose that you have your budgies addicted to. I'm Australian by birth and the dry areas that budgies come from have extremely little sweet fruit. Berries appear after the rain for about one week. Main budgie food by volume is the green stems of grass... they love the new sugary new growth near the ground but the older growth is more nutritious. There are plenty of varieties that you can grow such as wheat, oats etc. Baby amaranth is also an option. The second food in volume are a variety of seeds. As you can see this diet is naturally very high in carbohydrates. Some protein is available by eating their own unfertilised eggs and bugs. The problem with getting budgies addicted to sugar (it's like cocaine for the brain and hard to detox), the budgies become diabetic or prediabetic. Signs of this is obesity, itching of the skin, bad absorption of food. The mother eating the feathers indicate diabetes. Steps to help her are reduce fruit to once a fortnight and only offer dark colored berries. Offer a variety of green grasses (organic) twice a day, give a wide variety of seeds, avoid rice in your soft food meal recipe and invite her to fly as much as possible. Do the same for the father. All the best. I love your videos.

Omg THANK YOU for this video... My female Pickle is normally a HUGE B but as a first timemom was an excellent mom.. she had 2 chicks hatch, one 13 days ago and other 11 days ago. She been extremely well with them and very gentle which was surprising to me but I was happy about it, but i came home from work an hour ago today and babys were screaming.. I had to put thick sock over my hand to get mom out of nest box, and check on chicks... I was horrified how badly she was attacking mostly the 13 day old wings, so I have her in separate cage now.. she's absolutely soooo pist and wants to get out and go with babys but I can NOT let her attack them so badly.. we have plenty of food, vegs, egg food, boiled eggs, water, but I think its because we wants to mate again. My son said he saw her and her partner blueberry matting last night.. I absolutely love these little baby parakeets but do not want pickle to hurt or kill them. I'm hoping blueberry will care for them properly as he's been great with them since they hatched. Blueberry is a sweetheart bird but I'm worried he will be overwhelmed now that his partner pickle isn't with him and babys.

The other thing that affects feather and hair growth in humans is excessive exposure to EMFs. Check where your router is located. Definitely turn it off at night. Better still hard wire your installation, place your phone in Faraday bag...

Another reason for eating feathers is that the mother is chronically vitamin D deficient. Ensure the window has a flyscreen or keep the budgies in their cage, open the window for direct sunlight and give the budgies about 20 minutes per day as close to midday as possible.

Make your own cage as big as possible considering door and corridor width and mobility. Have a linking door so that birds can be separated if needed. Better they meet for the first time in neutral ground and not in their cage. Consider quarantine issues

After 2 terrible and horrible experiences owning budgies, I have an absolute disliking to these birds to the utmost. It's very sad that there are times I see these birds in person or videos, they make me so angry. So I purposely come to these videos to try gain some sort love for these birds, maybe rekindle an old love flame but it has yet to work. My mind constantly goes back to the hell these birds put me through. I've always asked for help from these so called "bird experts" on these CZcams accounts (the little secret is, none of them are "experts, fake it till you make it, they're all full of shit), I've asked so many times and no response but I would get hate messages from random people when I used to explain the problems I'm having. I had one weirdo tell me that, Jesus will guide him?
