    My D1 is now 27 years old which I had since new. I have ridden most bikes in my 30 years of motorcycling on and off the track. My ZZR has never broken down after 200,000 kms and wouldn't trade it for anything. strong comfy bike.

    I purchased my 2004 ZZR 600 new and I've ridden hundreds of motorcycle since. I have yet to find a motorcycle that does a better job. The wind protection is great, it consistently gets over 50MPG, it's quick, and it will run with the best of them all day long without wearing out the rider. What's not to love? Yes it is a bit heavier than newer sport bikes, but it comes with a center stand, a soft seat, full set of analog gauges including a gas gauge, dual exhaust, and handy clips to strap items to your seat. The brakes are not great but they aren't bad either. Just not cutting edge and those are up-gradable... The seating position is also comfortable and low enough that you won't have to tippy toe at stop lights or wear-out your wrists... I love my ZZR 600... .

      Very late to the party, but what about a 6' tall rider (long legs!)? I am tempted to buy one but it's miles away.

    • @501jonesw
      @501jonesw Před 4 lety +2

      Best that you try one on for size before buying. I am 5' 9" and the ZZR fits me perfectly. Flat footed at stop lights, easy on, easy off, and I do not feel cramped even riding two up or when tucked behind the windshield.. But if you are 6' or over you might want to try one before buying... I know there are people out there over 6' tall who own ZZR's so it's all going to be personal preference on how you feel in the saddle. I've owned mine since new in 2004 with about 36k miles on the clock now. Never an issue other than consumables like batteries and tires. BTW, I installed Michelin Pilot Road tires and I can't wait to get them off the bike... The rear tire is fine but I'm on the second front tire. Both front tires have a vibration I've not experienced on any other brand. The first Michelin front tire developed visible bumps at 2K miles. I removed it thinking it was a fluke and replaced it with another Michelin Pilot Road 4 for consistency between front and rear tires.. Same vibration issue.. I'll never purchase another Michelin tire..

    Just bought one two days ago as my first vehicle and it's an amazing bike!
    I took it on a road trip already to get it home and I just fell in love!
    I'm a sucker for it's 90's styling and I can't wait for all the adventures I'll have with it!

    I have to shoot some holes in the reviewers review of my favourite motrbike which is sitting in my garage. First Y are they comapring a sports tourer to todays all out 600 racers - not eveyone want to roll around on plank of wood seat which is bolted to a rocket ship. The way they is talking you would think this motorbike is only fit for the shit heap - the only person in the video who seems to be making any sort of sense is the lady. Yes the suspension isnt that great - but it isnt hard to make it a lot better. The best thing about it is ability to eat miles comfortably all day with performance to burn if you know how to use it. Has excellent road holding due to the extra weight - it will never win any races on a tight road. What it loses in handling and brakes - it makes up for in comfort, coolness and fuel economy. So reviewers turn your 66% upside down stick up ur asses and its 99% for the classic Kawasaki ZZR600

    @limpet7r63 Před 6 lety +10

    Some of the negative comments are fair. The brakes are crap (as much through age as design), and the standard suspension is too soft, but both are easily sorted and you're left with a brilliant all round sports tourer. I put a Hagon shock on mine, and slightly heavier fork oil, which both improved the handling and the ride. The bloke saying it lacks midrange power is talking out of his arse. One of the most tractable, useable 600s out there.

    I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a misinformed review. I’ve had around 10 bikes over the last 10 years and when I first road a ZZR 600 last year it blew me away. What a fantastic underrated machine which does a bit of everything. They are going for little money and if you come across a clean one snap it up. Great to put a smile on the face.

      I'm looking to upgrade from my Ninja 500. I want something with more power for long distance trips, better highway gearing, and more weight for a solid and stable feel on long roads. Comfort is extremely important to me, but I don't know how much better the riding position, handlebars, and wind protection is on this bike compared to the 500. Am I looking at the right kind of bike for sport-touring? Cheers.

  • @Mr.ATGATT
    @Mr.ATGATT Před 8 lety +11

    I love my ZX6E.
    Firstly, it's got a great look that doesn't try unbelievably hard (like today's bikes) to look "cool". It's done commuting, all day trips on highway and ripped through canyons faster than it's comfortable suspension would make you think. It's bested newer 600s at the track with it's power (and my 135 lb body) and the full Muzzy pipe sounds awesome. It starts the absolute moment I hit the starter button. The wind protection is excellent and its mirrors show the entire world behind you with clarity. All these positives outweigh the negatives, which have mostly been addressed with Galfer brake disks, steel braided brake lines, thicker fork fluid, modern tires, a little more pre-load in the rear, gearing, jet kit and full Muzzy single sided exhaust. More can be done to better handling without breaking the bank, but my Flying Couch is great how it is. They all are. Haters gonna hate, especially when a good rider embarrasses them with a TWENTY year old bike (10 years in video). Yeah, I'm bragging... about a sports tour.

      @@cesartapia610 You will be moving from a 2 cylinder to a 4 cylinder bike so yes it will be a bit more expensive but not as much as you may think, it may take a bit more oil, the larger air filter may cost a bit more but the oil filter is possibly the same, you will need 4 plugs not 2 and there's more shims to check, But you will have a much better bike , capable of over 150mph, It has the same engine as the ZX6R had so there's plenty of second hand parts if you cant afford new, not that I have ever had to change parts on my ZZR’s or my ZX6R’s I have had over the years, Tyres are bigger than your GPZ so may cost more and as for chain, Use RK Chain and sprockets, heavy duty is best and it will last you a life time. Maintenance on the ZZR is easy, I would recommend getting an Oil filter spanner to make life easier.

      +racefaceec90 I'm not sure if these guys rode the bike at all or just repeat what the other says. I have a GSXF600, which is older than this ZZR, and it is still a nice little sports tourer. There is no such a thing as "the bike used to be good in the past, now it isn't". I won't compare my equipment to today's GSXF650, of course. If you find a ZZR in good shape, it will be cheap to buy and maintain, these engines are generally bulletproof because they come from sports bikes, retuned for mid range, thus they last a VERY long time. You like the bike? Go try it, you won't regret.

    Some of these reviewers come from the same school as film critics where they are taught to speak in bollickanese. What a load of shite; it's like comparing an airliner to a fighter jet - they both do an excellent job but in totally different fields. I have been riding bikes for over 45 years from BSA to Blackbirds to Harleys and I still love my faithful ZZR 600. Comfortable tourer, never let me down. Love it.

      @@cesartapia610 Hi Cesar, sorry for the delay replying. Touring - we have a house in Wales and a house in Brittany (both small and cheap I hasten to add!!) The bike is now with us in France and will be back in the UK later this year. It's not as comfy as the Road King we had for long distance riding, but then again only 33% of the weight and more mpg, so easier to handle at my age (I was riding in the 60's). I'm not %0 anymore and the years haven't been kind - too many visits to the patisserie but we can still easily do 120 - 140 before a refill and around 200 before a "toilet and cuppa stop" becomes essential. Hope that helps. Opps, just had to edit as I saw your question re the bars. They are much higher than they look, you are not leaning forward at anything like a sports bike type angle and really are comfy. Go for a test ride if you get chance. Have a look at the 1993 Kawasaki ZZR600 review by men and motors video by Paul Johnson on CZcams. Stay safe, regards

    I love the looks of 90's sport bikes, and I love how comfortable, smooth, and quick this bike is. A+ in my book. Here's where they made a mistake. This bike is a sports-tour, not a super-sport. If Kawasaki was only interested in making race bikes, they would have dropped the ZZR600 in 1993-95 when they Came Out with the ZX6R that just so happened to replace the ZZR600 in that category after only 5 or so years. Th ZZR was continued, but as a sports-tour to satisfy a different market. They're comparing garlic to grapes, and for that, they get an (E-).

    Then a nice cheap ZZR-600 makes plenty of sense. I've owned one and it could do it all and it could handle. The only thing I didn't like were the brakes but braided stainless brake lines and a brake service took care of that. If you look after the bike, it will last for ages.

    Englishmen always need to criticize something good to make it to look bad.. This bike is bulletproof and very capable bike in good hands. This is sport tourer and not a supersport bike. So, it doesn't need better brakes or harder suspension , because then it will not be as comfortable as it is. If you want supersport then go for 636r , or if you need better brakes just upgrade them.. I had zzr 600 from '91 , 27 years old , never left me on the road. Especially last models who can get , will have one reliable machine for many years.

    This bike is made for the real world where you're not doing 10 laps on a racetrack but you may be out for a couple hours just enjoying a ride and thrilling yourself with that power and speed I would like to get the opinion of somebody on a track bike with a hard seat and low set handlebars after going out for a ride on the twisties for a couple of hours then trying a zz r600 on those same roads, If you are riding on the street this is the bike for you if you want to make it into a track bike you can put stiffer Springs you can lower the handlebars but you can't use a track bike on the street and expect Comfort. I know this from experience and I recommend this bike, why are people comparing good track bikes against a bike good for the street does that make any sense to you? These are different categories why not for the sake of more stupidity compare this to a motocross bike . I would hesitate to look at another review from men and motors

Yes brakes are crap,but put a nissin pair off a RVF400/CBR900/VTR1000 or some CBR600 models- then it's improved.Front forks are ok for sports touring, its rear shock that is rubbish.The seat height isnt to bad,so that shorter riders can get on. Standard downpipes need replacing for stainless,which lasts alot longer.
    For those on a tight budget looking for a bike that can carry them around UK it's worth considering.

      Weight is good for touring! That's what these people forget. They're complaining that the bike isn't up to state of the art race bike standards, but that's not the purpose of this motorcycle. It's designed to be a sports-tourer, for crying out loud!

    From these guys comments, I wouldn't trust them to run a bath, let alone run a bike everyday, total twats.
    I've seen plenty of well ridden 1k zzr600's around Snetterton embarrassing 16k R1's, and the zeds were ridden to the track in a lot of cases, not ran down the ramp of a hired tranny van.

    These reviewers are divvies. Handles like a sofa? You can get your knee down if you don't mind losing your licence/doing time in the Iron-Bar Hotel.
