Paradox’s origin operates off of the same principle as the phrase “give a monkey a typewriter and with enough time he’ll eventually write a complete work of Shakespeare.” It’s my favorite part of his character.
What really amazes me is how bored he must have been to bore himself out of insanity. It’s really simply put from his perspective with words, but in reality I’m sure it was unfathomably maddening and boring outside the space time continuum.
This scene depicts the power of boredom so well. No matter how bad of a trauma you are suffering or how good your life is going. Eventually there will come a time when you will get bored with it and move on. It's just that for some people that duration is shorter and people like those are easily bored with stuff and move to new ones. In other cases it's longer for other people, and they just die before that time comes. But not with Paradox as he was out of the time stream which made him virtually immortal, and he had time to get bored with that insanity. That's why people say time heals everything, but it's just people getting bored by the same emotions.
So many different ways to tell a story, but that's what makes them so interesting, you can never predict how they're going to turn out. (Professor Paradox).

I wonder if Professor Paradox liked his nickname so much that he did a little time altering so that anytime someone wanted to say his name they just refer to him as "Paradox" and kept his real name a mystery forever.

There's a reason, if Ben was stuck inside the debate pocket dimension of Alien X, then how would the future events will play out like how they were meant to be.
within reason is a self referential statement. He can do it, if its reasonable to him, because he understands ALL of spacetime. If it has space, or time passes, he can be there. That dimension might be an "Alternate" space, but it still latches and connects to mainline reality, thus it fundamental properties must be in line and he can jump to it.
