- Rather than paint directly onto a plaster cast you have made, which will cause your paint to absorb into the cast and use a lot more of your expensive paints; it is better to prepare the casting for paint first. Preparing the casting does not take long, it dries quickly and also gives you a much more solid finished result. I show in this video the best way to seal and paint your plaster casts and produce some beautiful results,

I have a trick for you not to get holes on the surface of your cast, before putting in the plaster you spray the mold with a mix of water and liquid dish soap you need only a few drops of it in the water, this helps break the surface tension of the bubbles. I do this all the time and the results are perfect. Love that black paint. Have a great weekend.
Thanks you I love a great tip I will definitely be trying that
Wow i will ret rgis it sounds good thank you
Pls tell the name of liquid dish soap
So just like fairy liquid in a spray bottle on the surface 😊 I'll try it
@littlelarges4807 Yes, but diluted, not straight as it is too strong.
Wow!!!
The paint pallettes were great, then adding the 'crystal' balls...
Wonderful!
I made a succulent pot with the open hands out of cement and 2 gloves in a bowel. Turned out really good
Wow these are spectacular!! Love how you painted them both and the resin piece completes it just right! Can't wait to see the other videos 😍! Thank you Steve 😊!!!
Those look fantastic! I love those crystal balls, too!
Been meaning to pop over and watch these videos for a while now, but haven’t found the time! Loving the hands, need to get these onto my ‘to try’ list 😅 thank you Steve, see you in the group 🤗
Wow I love them absolutely stunning with the crystals Steve 😍❤️
Nice. I just watched the resin video and it linked me here. Great combination. Thanks for the bubble-ridding ideas
Steve, have you ever tried using your Dremel or even some hair clippers (or similar) to vibrate the bubbles out? It's fairly quick and effective to just hold the running 'motor end' against the filled mold, or the board or table the filled mold is sitting on. As long as the motor isn't too powerful, it works really well. Thanks for another fun video!
Absolutely gorgeous!!! Love the fairytale blue... I was thinking what a nice piece to put on a side table, then you added the crystal balls to them and WOW!!!! What a focal point piece!!!!
Now my husband is going to be MAD because I'm ordering those molds even after he said no ordering anything this month....
Stay safe, you do you, and stay creatively crafty👍👍🔔🔔🦋🦋
Beautiful as usual xxx
Oooo those hands are really cool that you made! I love them! I was thinking if I got that mold I could make it out of resin which would be different than you using plaster but I’ll keep you posted on how it turned out. You always have the greatest ideas. Thanks for being such an inspiration
I would love one of those
Love them ❤️ They would be great as a Halloween ornament lol 😆
These r cool 😎 af!!!
Thanks for sharing this man! I do a lot of sculpting and then moldmaking (I use monster clay mostly), but I can never figure out how to get that "finished" look when painting plaster til I saw this video. Cheers! And many thanks. And HELL YEAH: 80 bucks for the black speckled one? That's a BARGAIN! :)
What did you use for the rubber mould? What materials are they?
I casted my mothers hands. Did the glue coat, dried, then painted with acrylic paint. How long would you recommend I let them dry before sealing? Thanks so much!
❤️❤️❤️
Can you put resin with pigment over the hands ?? And then can it go outside
How long do you wait to paint the plaster?
Can i ask you something pls if i may. Why my plaster after it cures its like and leaving on hands poweder feel and white dust? Doi do something wrong? Thank you xx 🇨🇾🦋✅💜👑🌈🌻
Which plaster are you using? It sounds to me as if you are not adding quite enough water and perhaps not mixing it fully. Hope that helps
@@SteveMcDonaldCrafting hi there and thank you. You are right i poured some water then the plaster it had warming and gettin hard then pour second portion etc 🌻🌻🇨🇾🇨🇾🇨🇾🦋
Pva glue coat will spoil when apply acrylic paint mixed with water..
