Oh yes, I grew up having strawberry shortcake for supper and sometimes it would just be sliced tomatoes and corn on the cob. That's how it is when your father is a farmer. I can't get over how all of your children resemble their dad.
My favorite was a bowl of fresh wild raspberries we'd picked (or wild blueberries) with milk/sugar, and slice of bread/butter. Sometimes it was too hot for mom to cook in house and it was a light meal. I remember meals you mention above as well. Brings back memories of living in the country. Thanks for sharing those memories

Yes! We ate strawberry shortcake like that growing up! My mom would also serve bologna and cheese with it for something salty. My husband thought I was nuts when he first saw how we ate it! Anyway, nice to know we’re not the only ones who ate it that way. I also love milk on chocolate cake! So good!

Used to live in Montpelier Idaho just over the border from Jackson Hole Wy. Idaho is beautiful top to bottom, love WY too but it is more plains. Lots of water activities around, hot pools, rafting, etc. you should try to see Bear Lake just out of Montpelier toward Utah, it is known for it's aqua blue water. Yellowstone is great but don't see too much wildlife maybe a moose but they don't like humans so stay in the car.
Oaklynn is really adorable, I'm thinking a day of her would be great, and your boys are so cute, and funny, love well behaved children with a good sense of humor!!

Me too ........milk on strawberry shortcake. I grew up in PA . Lancaster county.....Amish and Mennonite area. I also watch Megan Fox love watch background as she drive since I’m from that area. So enjoyed your trip to Ohio reminds me of PA. My husband and I moved to near Charleston SC . He had enough with snow as he worked in maintenance for a school district. He had enough time to retire from that job. He now works maintenance for a park and playground in Charleston. And our one daughter and family live in this area. The oldest daughter and family followed us soon after our move and we have another daughter and husband in TN. Only have my father back in PA.
That striped dress (with belt) is lovely on you and I like that you can either roll up the sleeves or keep them longer. Would be nice paired with a cardigan too for colder days. Perfect length!

I live 90 miles from Jackson and West Yellowstone. My grandparents built a cabin in macks inn 90 years ago. It is still in the family. You will love the area. My mother always called it God's country! Have fun!

You'll be in my neck of the woods - sort of anyway. Missoula, MT is quite a ways from Yellowstone, but still very hot. We're in the high 80's to low 90's - just very little humidity. Hopefully not too much of temperature shock.

definitely you can fix the hole in the sleeve, when I worked in a sewing factory we took a little skinny dart where the hole was, that was standard practice for little holes

I haven't had strawberry shortcake in several years. Instead of making shortcake, I like following the "Cherry Yum Yum" recipe except I use strawberry pie filling instead of cherry pie filling so I guess I make "Strawberry Yum Yum". By the way, that's a sort of strange name but it is really scrumptious! Don't know how hot it is down there where you live, Lynette, but I live in Nashville and it is 98 degrees here at mid-day. I took my trash to the curb recently and I took it at 4 o'clock in the morning because that is the only time I could stand to be outside long enough to push the can to the curb. I think at 4 a.m. it was around 73 or so and I can handle that but at 98 I just keep my happy self in the house next to the air conditioner! And yes, I would love to see a day of Oaklynn.

Once you know how to multiply them, looks like plants get addictive! They look great! Enjoy your vacation! The boys will love seeing the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone! Think that may be dinosaur remains territory. Seems like it is just smart to eat what you want and to forgo extra food just to please a standard of what is a proper meal. I think a lot of families have made a meal of corn on the cob or strawberry shortcake or an appetizer! I can't believe Oaklyn is 6 months old!!!! Those pictures of her and the boys are adorable!!! Hope you print them out so they don't get lost to some technology glitch or lost device. The boys were great helpers cleaning up their room! Since you will have your phone, you could maybe share some vlogging from the trip, but ask the family and let them decide. They may want you all to themselves for a week!

All of my outdoor potted plants are doing great and thriving as well; I have 3 Pothos on my screened porch th are growing as if they have magic beans in them and my succulents are awesome as well. I have to say you should just enjoy your vacation with your family. You’re a hard worker and deserve the time to yourself with them. We’ll all be here when you get back and maybe you can just show us pics and tell a couple of stories as if we were sitting around the table with you having coffee 😎😁. Really enjoyed the video, little O is growing so fast my baby is 7 months and he still is not trying to crawl , I have a dyson vacuum and I love it it’s so easy to tidy up with it so light, I never went back to my bulky vacuum after that it was worth the investment I use it everyday all over the house and car, I heard you said your little boy was sad there was no dessert after dinner and that made me think I make desserts on rare ocassions not everyday I plan my meals but not dessert and maybe I should try to make them more often. Laundry is never ending right! I got mine done too, have a safe fun trip .
We would always take fresh, homemade biscuits and put the sweetened strawberries over that and then put milk over it. I've never seen anyone else do that with the milk.
I have a Dyson cordless similar to this one you have. If I didn't I would purchase this one! I also purchased the OCedar mop and bucket on your recommendation, simply love it! Happy 6Mos little Oaklynn! She's such a cutie Lynette.

Bisquick has a great recipe on their box! And I form balls and flatten and put 2 on top of each other, I never thought to bake it in one pan and cut it after!

As a child in the fifties, we ate our strawberries and shortcake covered with cold Pet milk. Not any other brand, it had to be Pet. Delicious.

Really enjoyed the video, little O is growing so fast my baby is 7 months and he still is not trying to crawl , I have a dyson vacuum and I love it it’s so easy to tidy up with it so light, I never went back to my bulky vacuum after that it was worth the investment I use it everyday all over the house and car, I heard you said your little boy was sad there was no dessert after dinner and that made me think I make desserts on rare ocassions not everyday I plan my meals but not dessert and maybe I should try to make them more often. Laundry is never ending right! I got mine done too, have a safe fun trip .

We would always take fresh, homemade biscuits and put the sweetened strawberries over that and then put milk over it. I've never seen anyone else do that with the milk.

Bisquick has a great recipe on their box! And I form balls and flatten and put 2 on top of each other, I never thought to bake it in one pan and cut it after!
