I totally agree! Multiculturalism is Canada’s strategy to divide and conquer, keeping immigrants within their lanes. As a professional interpreter I see firsthand the disempowerment caused by “multiculturalism”, newcomers don’t need to integrate into our Canadian culture and live here for decades without feeling the need to learn English as they live and work among their compatriots. I grew up in Brazil, where, like the US, immigrants must integrate. Imagine moving to any country and not being able to speak their language after decades, you would always be relegated to menial low paying jobs. Which is todays reality in Canada 😢
I'm getting cheesed off with this myth about the Windrush. These people were never invited and made NO difference to the economy and job vacancies, which didn't help Britain build after the war. Most Caribbean countries begged the British to give these people jobs as their crime rate was spiralling out of control. Because of this uninvited immigration, guess what? Our crime rate is now spiralling out of control. Now, can anyone see why these people bring nothing but trouble to whatever country they immigrate to.

This racist reporting of the Notting Hill Carnival is as regular as clockwork. I can't remember an instance where a news report about the Notting Hill Carnival has not ended with the number of stabbings and arrests made.

There was massive amounts of Crimes at Glastonbury, muggings at knife point was common, then they put they fence up and the diversity gangs from the cities stopped going and things improved dramatically.
I lived in Notting Hill in the eighties. Carnival weekend was terribly noisy, especially when you had to go to work the next day. Black gang violence was terrible, stabbings were rife, theft was profuse, abuse and disrespect abounded. Get rid of it!

The ghetto's of staying within pockets do cause issues. Surely if you live in the UK you should fully intergrate, speak the langage, involve yourself in your community and learn about England. Some people live here for years yet don't speak the language, stay within own ghetto's of same culture and won't attempt to mix with others as we don't fit into there religious or cultural beliefs, therefore frown upon us.

Don't worry, we have the same issues in Australia. There are pockets of ethnicity where in some suburbs, you'd be hard pressed to find a shop sign and menu's in English. The savvy business owners who truly want to integrate have the signs and menu's in both their native language and English. Others just want to cater to their own and perpetuate the divide.

Most of you think of people with brown and black skin when you hear the word multiculturalism. Very few, if any of you stop to wonder why you think this. Britain has always been a multicultural country - the only difference being those multicultures had white skin. How many white Brits can trace their ancestors back to Anglo-Saxon ancestors? Not many, I would guess. This country has been invaded and run through by multiple cultures, Normans, Huns, Scandanavians, Romans etc. It's not culture that is the main problem - it's visible difference of skin color. As for using inflammatory language like "invasion," the majority of non-white Brits are there legally. The last two successful invasions of GB were in 1066, the Battle of Hastings., and in 1797, the invasion of Fishguard, a small Pembrokeshire town. Let's not forget, the British Empire existed because a small western hemisphere island used advanced military force, weaponry, terrorism, aggression and might to invade and occupy much bigger countries around the world - forcing their culture, language, laws and values down the indigenous people's throats. It was called British colonialism. Not only did your ancestors invade other countries, they hijacked and stole their resources, and often enslaved and brutalized the people. They then forced British Subject status on them to destabilize and erase their cultural identities and also used divide-and-conquer political and social tactics to exploit ethnic and religious tensions. That my friends, is what I call an invasion. INVITING British subjects to the"Mother Country" to rebuild it after Germany and its allies knocked the ish out of it during WW 1 and 2 is not an invasion by any stretch of the imagination. Forgetting that these British subjects shed the blood of generations of their finest young men on foreign battlefields to PROTECT said Mother Country - only to experience abuse, and exclusion - from Brits toward them, their children, and their children's children too, is rank ingratitude. Too many black and brown British Subjects were denied the right to thrive, grow, and be a part of Britain's institutions. Everyone just wants to belong, but black and brown British Subjects were not welcomed and appreciated for their contributions. They were forced to live in communities together for safety reasons. At best, being rejected by a people you helped save and support was impolite and cruel, at worse, treacherous and deadly. Today, the hypocrisy of likening the migrant crisis to an invasion - when Britain has invaded 90% of the countries on earth - is astounding. Britain is also the root cause of the majority of today's conflict on this earth, with the redrawing of borders and territories, exploiting ethnic divisions, and exploiting overseas resources. It took a long time for the chickens to come home to roost. Many of these people are fleeing their homes due to the seeds Britain likely planted decades, and sometimes centuries ago. If you break it, you buy it. Now these people's troubles are Britain's troubles. Stop making excuses for your petty, small-minded racial biases. Stop wingeing about a made-up "invasion." Stop wheeling out beards like Akua - paid shills -desperate for acceptance - who say anything to make you like her -- even though you never will. You don't see her as British no matter how much she changes herself to integrate. You like what comes out of her mouth because it absolves you from the responsibility of learning about your country's role in creating the majority of issues in the world - including the Middle East. When someone like Akua tells you that you are right to think and feel what you do, without challenging you to think critically or encouraging you to understand the history behind what is happening now, you can continue to blame black and brown people for showing you England's little man behind the curtain. Britain once was the mighty Wizard of Oz - larger than life - frightening, arrogant, all-powerful -- but it has always been a little island that got lucky with its military technology (learned through multi-culturalism) and because of this, it became overly ambitious and greedy, and aggressive and cruel and grew so large that it imploded - imperialism is never sustainable. What you want is less black and brown faces in your communities. The answer is simple. Stop undermining their countries. Lobby for fair trade. Invest in countries you have previously exploited to help build stable economies in their countries. Stop secretly selling arms to insurgencies and stop instigating coups in their countries because you are not comfortable with the leaders they elect. Most people would prefer to live and thrive in their own lands. And most importantly, if you want an all-white country, British descent whites must be prepared to leave black and brown countries to repatriate to the UK. I doubt you will be happy if this happened. When black and brown people are not around for you to focus all your negativity on us, you turn your negativity on each other. Stop thinking about what you have lost, which is not much when all is said and done. Think about what you have gained and how much more interesting British culture and life is because of the presence of black and brown people. I am sure most immigrants would love to integrate if they felt safe, welcomed and included. Ghettos exist for a reason. In fact, I reject the word ghetto, because it is racialized and weaponized when applied to black and brown people. Are all white communities ghettos? Looking at many of the comments in this thread, makes me think that cultural enclaves are necessary for safety and well-being.

Totally are with Nana and the gentlemen says. When i was growing up my father insisted that i spoke the Queens English. My parents are from Jamaica and we were born here. Well done Nana for re-interpreting the Windrush story. I worked alongside these people and their children and there was no mention of animosity toward them by our country . They all fitted in and in fact as youngsters we were enchanted by their ska and bluebeat music and clothes and their unique foods. I really wish people like Joanna would stop trying to be experts about something that happened a long time before they were born.

I live in Leicester constantly told its a brilliant example of how Multiculturalism working. Last year we had large groups of Muslim and Hindus fighting on the streets. Hindus live in one area Muslims in another area and Eastern Europeans living in yet another area. The whites have moved to the County.

I worked in a nursery and after school care and we were told to stop celebrating Easter Halloween and Christmas for our kids but we had to celebrate Diwali Chinese New Year and every other culture under the sun apart from our own British culture and traditions as we couldn’t offend the foreign population when is this all gonna end

Never use the NHS as an example. They have for decades been a top heavy, elitist organisation. Multi layers of managers and no WORKERS. The elephant in the room…. Record waiting times in A&E, thousands of patients waiting cancer treatment, record numbers of patients waiting 24 hrs or more to be transferred from A&E to hospital beds and all these numbers rising. Is it a coincidence that all this coincides with mass immigration!

I have to agree, the Notting Hill carnival was a perfect example of multiculturalism. An example that should show the world how multiculturalism is a curse on any country. If multiculturalism worked, how come every empire that has existed……has failed.

The short answer is that most foreigners do not wish to integrate, hence they are put into areas with like minded and racially similar ethnicities. My husband had to leave his job due to a long term illness ( well forced out ) after being there 10 years . He has applied for jobs but hardly ever gets a reply . One of these jobs was next door to our house as a cleaner in a pub , super market work , garden center ,. He's a skilled mill worker but due to not being sble to drive and living in a village with sporadic bus service it's hard to get to some places. He even asked for a loan to get a bike from the beneifits office and they told him no .
I can't work because I have a illness that forced me to give up work .We also have an 18 year old autistic son .
But it's not for lack of trying on my husbands part to find work and he is now getting depressed as he loves providing and feels like a failure.
So not every person on beneifits does not want to work all though many don't it's always the case .
Employers want young school leavers or foriengers so they csn pay lower wages and they don't really know their rights .
I keep seeing videos of immigrant care workers advising foreigners how to make more money for less work, 3 grand a month and how to get a council house in 6 months. Care homes sponsor immigrants, pay for their plane ticket and visa. The Nigerian woman doing one video said she was swimming in money. My daughter gets minimum wage and works bloody hard.

A small amount of violence/ criminal activity at Notting Hill Carnival?? What?!!! There was a boat load of it for god's sake. 75 Police officers injured. This woman tried to chip in and say that it happens at other festivals. Really? How many officers were injured at the last Glastonbury? How many knife point robberies were there? Not to mention the state of the streets after the Carnival. Machete wielding gangs, sexual harrasment, muggings, assaults, pick-pockets. Most of which go unreported at the behest of the mayor and his cronies. It's an absolute disaster.
Ah but she will say reported crime numbers were comparatively low in regard to attendance, no doubt she argues that reported numbers are just the tip of the iceberg as so much crime goes unreported when she is attacking the police for something. 😉
You're being disingenuous, of course. Carnival doesn't CAUSE crime, it's a victim of crime. That said, I've been going to NHC for 37 years and have never experienced any trouble at all - but then I don't go looking for it. There's an average of 35 stabbings in London (pop 9 million) every day. Notting Hill Carnival (attendance 2 million) had 7 stabbings - terrible, I agree, but a reflection of a city in which violence is a daily occurrence. There's a far higher reporting rate for crime at Notting Hill because of the sheer amount of surveillance. When did you last see a police officer on foot in your neighbourhood? I haven't seen one in my part of London all year. Yet there were 15,000 police shifts over the three days of NHC, aided by CCTV, helicopters and about a million people (at least) carrying some kind of camera. If you want to get caught quickly, then commit a crime at NHC!
Yeah! Look at the 2023 Glyndebourne Festival and the carnage that went down there.

The UK is such a welcoming place, and the vast majority of immigrants are grateful.
It's wonderful that people are bringing in their food and music, of course. But their social norms must be compatible with a free society and with gender equality. Their children should feel British. Ethnic and religious extremists should have their residence permit revoked, the same way you ask a rude guest to leave your house.

A mix of cultures that have nothing in common will always lead to ghettos and parallel societies that are in mutual disputes over their territories. They are small states within a large state and incredibly difficult to govern. This is what the truly multicultural world looks like - unfortunately. Not exactly a dream community.

There was study out of California on diversity recently that showed it was a failure.
A racially homogenous town has very little crime. Everyone knows each other, people donate to charity, they get involved in local clubs and schemes. People are more likely to take care of their homes, gardens, streets and local parks. More importantly there is trust.
The moment you introduce families from other ethnicities the whole thing breaks down, leading to lots of crime, nothing gets looked after, the previous home owners leave, the local shops shut, etc...
There was also leaked documents from Amazon that showed Bezos loves Diversity in the work place for the same reasons. The racial groups tribalise in the work place and it prevents your workers from coming together as a whole and forming unions. Its pretty damning stuff.

Who do you think the other 2 million people were then? Answer: ordinary, decent people with good jobs, homes, families, who've worked hard to have their two days of fun. The people I was with included, doctors, a top professor, students, nurses, a bus driver, a journalist, an estate agent, a property manager, an accountant, a lawyer etc. What's so scary or depraved about that? Whatever their skin colour, religion, ancestry etc, I can tell you that every one of them firmly - and I think proudly - considered themselves British. So, yes, most people at Notting Hill Carnival go there just to have a nice time with friends. As with the rest of society, it's a tiny, vicious criminal minority who "run around like savages, stabbing people". Sadly, you're as likly to find those thugs in your local shopping centre or high street or park as you are at Notting Hill. It's a London problem, not a Carnival problem.
