Great vid Chigz, love the content! A small note, you CAN actually reply to text/ sms messages with a quick "reply" feature when you want to decline an incoming call or reply to a text. In essence you send a pre-written text message, like "in a meeting" or "call you later. All of these can be edited on the phone app. This is official from garmin. There was some talk that you could be able to use google assistant or Bixby ( or Alexa ) to even dictate a reply to a text, though not really sure about this one. All of this ONLY applies to Android phones. You might want to edit that part of the vid ;)
It is not possible to make text response when connected to an iphone. This is because of iphone. But it is possible for any android device. Garmin is far from becoming a smartwatch. But it is slowly introducing smartwatch features. Also garmin is a sport and fitness watch first that is why it has limited swipe gestures to avoid accidental stop of an activity. That is also the reason why other more expensive garmin watches just recently adopted the use of touch screen. For fitness you can use garmin's own activity profiles which many believe is the best in the industry. It will also show in the garmin connect app. It is not like other smartwatches that provides 100's activity profile but just measure heart rate and duration. Garmin does activity profiles in a different level. Ex. Strength activity counts reps, sets, and automatically determines the type of exercise and muscle group involve.
It is very nice to see Garmin have finally (like Fitbit now too) are making their smart watches actually more "smart" rather than just being a glorified fitnesses band. Being able to take calls and access your voice assistant is very handy. I think there are few things that left to be desired on both Fitbit and Garmin such as Google Pay as the UK market for Fitbit Pay and Garmin Pay sucks. Still some things missing on the Garmin side like replying to texts with your voice but I suppose at the end of the day it is still supposed to be a fitness tracker foremost but having amazing battery life and health tracking with some smart features is great but it still seems there is no smart watch out there than can do say 5 day battery life at least with full health tracking and full smart features. I currently own this VENU 2 plus... BEST everyday smartwatch in my opinion. the ability take a ph call from your wrist is extremely handy. Its also very stylish and lightweight

Very nice review. I have purchased it yesterday. Very light, with good features alebit i miss LTE coming from Apple. Battery life seems to be really good. Health features are well tracked and accurate as proven by you. Adding music from the phone was difficult. Overall software needs more polish. Thanks for a good video... Good luck for the next one.

Upgrading from a T Rex pro, which I noticed was in your top 10; had issues with HR monitor, Amazon refunded my money and let me keep the T Rex even after 7 months 😮. Have watched many reviews prior to purchase, mainly American, German, Canadian and they don't have issues with sleep tracking or Garmin pay, hope this has been resolved in the 2x years or so. One issue they do point out with HR accuracy, although agreeing it is usually really good, in real time workouts it can vary slightly due to stopping starting, vibration on bicycles etc, when compared with a medical grade tracker. But great review, liked, saved and followed 💪.
Hello, great video, I just left a suggestion, for the HR test, it also should be done during some intense workout, because while resting there are many smartwatches giving very good results, but most of them fail during workouts (GPS or heart rate accuracy).
Looks like a decent option. Only thing extra I'd really appreciate is the messaging, even if only the ability to read. I'd gladly sacrifice an extra 2mm of thickness for even longer battery life too, but that's expecting too much 😉.
I've had so many issues with this watch (Venu 2 plus) with the screen freezing when trying to pick up the GPS signal for exercising. So I'm not a fan. I've reverted back to the previous Venu 2. Much better with non of the above screen freezing issues. Also I prefer the slightly wider band. And as for the sake of using the Venu 2 plus for calls as you are normally carrying your phone that feature becomes superfluous.
Oh man, I thought I was settling in on the venu 2 plus now have second thoughts. I want to try on wrist, too, wasn't sure if venu would look gigantic on wrist. But I'd prob get used to that.
@@Thomas-fk3cw the normal Venu 2 is not that much bigger looking on my wrist. It's just more reliable than the Venu 2 plus and I definitely prefer the 22mm band more than the 20mm. Yes I know it's only 2mm but like a backpack the slightly wider strap definitely seems more comfortable. And I'll keep saying the constant screen freezing issues on the Venu 2 plus were so frustrating that it wasn't worth wearing and the ability to take calls became superfluous.

So on the Plus "hydration" is phone dependent, but on the Venu 2 it's not, and this can't be modified in the settings? I'm considering the Plus, however I want to be able to turn off the phone dependency at certain times, so it's like an normal Venu 2. Can you do a workout using internally saved music and not have my phone with me using bluetooth headphones. Possible?
Very good review, the best so far. But this Venu replay messages, but only on Android. Compare this watch with apple watch e galaxy watch, will be great.
Awesome review! Good watch but Garmin missed a huge segment of the market(like me) who want an AMOLED display training smartwatch without maps. Basically like a Garmin FR945 with AMOLED and no maps.

Good afternoon. I recently bought a Garmin Venu 2 Plus model. I love it and they have everything I need. There is one problem, can you tell me what the essence is. It's about paying with Garmin Pay. I watched earlier reviews in which bloggers claimed that after the watch is put on the hand and the code is entered before payment, then in subsequent times if the watch was not removed, the code does not need to be entered. After entering the code, I still have the opportunity to pay without entering the code for 10 minutes, and then the watch asks for the code again. I deleted and relinked the card but it did not help. I tightened the belt tightly so that the watch always touched the hand, but it did not help. Is it a marriage or raw firmware? It seems that the sensor periodically does not see the watch on the hand? What do you think about this? I really hope you can give me some advice. Reply

Really liking what I see with this watch. I have only had the IPhone and Iwatch so this is new to me. I am looking into getting another watch other than the iwatch but noticed it’s not easy to find a watch comparable with my iPhone. I use email at work on my phone all day so it is imperative that I can find a watch that will pair with my iPhone and mail. I am hoping this watch is the one. I thought you could reply to texts with prearranged messages. The EGC app has been FDA approved about 4 weeks ago. The hardware to do it is already built into the watch.

My watch had auto brightness problem, so I returned it. Even I keep brightness high it somehow turned in auto brightness mode. Is that same issue with you or this has been resolved with an update.
Thanks for the review, very well done! I wanted to point out that you can reply to messages using customizable quick replies when connected to an Android phone. IOS has a limitation there so it will currently only ever be possible on Apple Watches. Also, there's Strava integration in the Garmin app. However, I haven't tested this on my Garmin fenix 6S Pro, so I'm not sure if this is what you were looking for.
I bought the smaller version of this, still too thick, painful like hell. Because my wrist is way too thin, imagine that of a 7year old child. I am wearing Garmin Forrunner 45s for running. And I am looking for a small watch with eSim, so I can go out without my phone. Any recommendations except Apple Watch? I am an iPhone user but I’m not a big fan of AW. Thanks.
I mean their is a way around this technically you have access to voice assistance just tell Siri to reply to who ever your messaging and do it that way
You can not make contactless payments…. I need to see if that’s still the case. As I have an Apple Watch and fancy a change. But contactless payments, I’m so used to that - I don’t fancy giving that up

I would go for Venu 2 Plus. GT2 Pro is a nice watch but in comparison lacks the sheer features you get on the Venu.

Honestly, the Garmin Venu 2 plus watch counts steps while I'm driving a car. Why does the sensor provide steps while I'm driving? Is there a solution?
