    I own the SU-V3 myself, passed down from my dad. Great to be able to have a superb vintage piece of kit in the family ownership from day one. I cannot say enough about this amp, it's now permanently "connected" to the SL-1200MK2 turntable at my little listening post in the corner of the lounge. No speakers, just the decent pair of headphones. That's all - a pure heaven.

    Back in 70s-80's, Technics made lots of good quality yet affordable Hi-Fi stereo equipment when I started in this audio maze. My first amp was the SU-V6 with beautiful black finish and I still had it in my closet though collecting dusts in a corner. Love it's sound and those memories behind it.( I had to worked hard after school to save $'s to buy those pieces 1 by 1). The tape deck and tuner died over the years but the amp and turntable still good. Some day I'm going to bring them out again and give them new lease of their lives. That would be my post-retirement project. Too bad Technics seemed to faded out (not dead yet but gone hi-end/niche market) in their audio fame in recent years. I love their focus in audio only while other Japanese brands strayed into video/home electronics etc. If I don't remember wrong, Technics makes nothing else but audio. Wish them well.

    I just found one of these in the dump with one channel not working and the other barely working. I cleaned it out, cleaned all the potentiometers with contact cleaner, and re-soldered a lot of it. It works like new now, sounds great too.

    I have had one of these for over 10 years now. I recently had to open it up and clean all the dust out because there was a loud feedback noise coming from the speakers even with the volume turned down. It still crackles a bit sometimes when adjusting volume, but I still love it.

    Tengo este modelo hace mas de 10 años, suena realmente bien, lo uso con dos technics SB-X500A y un par de jbl N38ii. Un Technics SL-1210 mk7 y un Technics Sh8015 en la cadena, nunca se ha hecho mantenimiento

    I have one just like it. It is excellent. The paint on the power, filters and loudness keys is out of paint. How can I fix that detail? Do you know any video that shows it? Thank you.

    Any idea why this amp get so loud at 3-4 volume level? I have it with magnat monitor 220 (4-8ohm 90w).

    • @dreamdiction
      @dreamdiction Před 4 lety

      Are you using a ceramic cartridge to an input which is for a moving magnet cartridge?

    • @holy0damn
      @holy0damn Před 4 lety

      @@dreamdiction hm are you talking about turntable stuff? What I mean is this amp (even using headphones directly) is super loud at even at 3 on volume knob. I not the expert on electronics, I would assume it needs bigger speakers or with more resistance, but even on headhones it gets really loud.
      I usually use it with presonus audiobox interface coming from my pc. If I lower the volume on interface the technics amp at 4-5 level brings slight noise which I would assume it passes over initial power. I hope I use my words in right way :p

      If your input line level (e.g., 2 V) is much greater than the input sensitivity (i.e., 150 mV) then full volume (before clipping) will be reached well before the volume control is at maximum. In this situation, turning the volume control up too far may significantly increase distortion and potentially damage your speaker's tweeters.

      yes, the V5 has discrete power amps, this one has a stk, I have two SU-V5s, one black and one silver, one with burnt resistors and one healthy but with a channel that saturates after minutes of listening, I'm trying to figure out how to Save them both, they're gorgeous

      @@chicagomen01 Hello friend, the amplifier marks 100 watts peak on the screen, the minimum output according to the manual is 40 watts but it will be true that it reaches 100 watts, what do you think, there are several models of technics amplifiers that bring that same screen for example the su-z45 but it will be true that they will reach 100 watts?
