    Basically the song says "I didn't mean to kill Bafana, her boyfriend, she was defending herself as he was beating her up! So she is apologizing to his mother.

    The entire song is in IsiZulu (Zulu language). Basically the song is a song of remorse for having killed her abusive boyfriend called Bafana. She apologizing to Bafana's mother, telling her that she was defending herself from him.
    She says she loved Bafana and it was a mistake to have killed him as she was defending herself from his beatings.
    She says there was nothing that she could have done but defend herself.
    She acknowledges that it was her mistake.
    "Heth no fury like a woman scorned"

      Well said. Having been in a situation where I almost stabbed a man, I understand how such situations can happen.
      I think that the problem is that women empowerment is such a huge project but no equivalent programs for men. Are they supposed to just know instinctively that the men they've grown up around who abuse women are wrong? Let's tell them, just to make sure that they know. Desensitization to abuse is the elephant in the room that we are trying so hard to pretend not to see.

    • @clantis
      @clantis Před 3 lety +4

      @@thefabulousmeujwara I once wrote an essay back in high school where I predicted that if the girl child was to put the number one priority in terms of empowerment (which I totally agreed with in my essay), but if the boy child isn't kept busy with something, the boy child will turn into a monster to women in the future.
      However, in our current situation in South Africa, we all know that both men and women aren't getting opportunities to empower neither, instead, only the politically connected gets to enjoy that.
      Now, where is the abuse, femicide and neglect coming from? Clearly, it's lack of home training l, lack of government implementing their own policies aimed at empowering its citizens. I mean, why should they when they can pocket the money aimed at empowering people, right?
      Therefore, there's absolutely no reason in all this horrible things happening to women in South Africa. I say, CHOP IT OFF if he rapes, hang him if he murders her, period.
      I'm happy that you survived the man who abused you. I hope he's rotting.

    It seems the lady is headed for jail. She now either writes a letter or speaks to the parent of the man, the boyfriend, whom she killed in self defence as a result of his repeated physical abuse of her. Mama ka Bafana , refers to Bafana's(the boyfriend) mom. It's a shame that the victim of abuse incarcerated after enacting self defence. Police couldn't contain her situation in time.

    With African vocab, the vowels and consonants do not change, eg. u remains "u" and never changes to "a", "ph" never changes to "f" but pronounced "p(h-silent)". You almost got it right.
