- It's always a great time shooting with our friends from Hood Muscle Cars and this time was simply a blast. Their friend Richy brought out his 1964 Chevy El Camino with a 383 ci small block making over 700 hp...plus it has a 350 hp shot of nitrous!!! What makes it even crazier to me is that other than wheels & tires it looks like a stock ElCo. Plus Richy says this car runs in the 8's in the 1/4 mile which is cooking!! Richie nailed it by keeping the original paint color, interior and all the components. True classic looks with the perfect wheel choice, the Weld Aluma stars are my all time favorite especially with the 17” fronts and beadlock rears. Those wheels look good on anything from classic to modern. I love this ride, its beautiful and bad ass!

FINALLY! A 1964 El Camino!!! I have a 1964 (passed down from my late uncle). And I'm so glad to see another person appreciate one.
Love how he did the hood thing….thats a old school trick from back in the day, just like the old timers flipping the air cleaner lids lol

@@dkstudioart - Only at a private track rental. Anything else and he would not be allowed to go faster than 11.50.
It’s a claimed 9 second car but as a retired racer I always have an issue with racers who claim a certain ET or power level without proof. This guy said the car had gone a best of 9.30. Yet he claims it’s an 8 second car? Where’s the slip?

Those 434 small blocks are something else! There’s a gentleman that lives near here that has a Decently known Red C10 pickup with a 434 and on a tube chassis built for autocross.

I like seeing the older el caminos I barely see them at car shows in my area the engine upgrade is awesome
We used to pop the rear of the hood with washers because it lets the heat escape and keeps the engine running cooler. That was 40 years ago. I love that he kept the El original to its look. Gauges look great, he really put a lot of thought into the build. Bravo!!!! Great Video Thank You Shawn!!!

My friend built a 64 Chevelle SS he followed a old Car Craft article on ASA Chevelle s and boxed the trailing arms and gussets the A frames among other things it has a 525 hp 383 w a 150 shot nitrous

I just dropped the Dime and bought a 1967 El Camino with a 383 Stroker with less than a 100 miles on the crate engine.

great video, loved that el camino just as he built it nice color scheme, column shift smooth as butter, wheels and tires , stock suspension, car didn't even seem real loud but the power put you back in the seat. looks like he was driving and closing the nitrous bottle as he drove.

Holy balls is that a nice clean elcy I recently got a 66, it runs has a good rebuilt motor new custom interior but some chrome and one or two body pieces, the piece behind the front bumper and a piece in the driver's window

VERY NICE! My 66 Elco is basically the same "type" of setup and I agree... It works! All stock except the wheels and a ZZ427 Crate engine. Marina Blue too! It can seen on the Schott Wheels website displaying the Mach V Concave Cover-loc wheels, or in the gallery.

Dont care if it runs 8,9,10. Its still a tasteful engineering with immediate brute force without whiney superchargers. Just grunt force of N/A motor muscle. 434 is a nasty hogh revving engine. Big blocks nightmare.. Love the Magnaflows..

I'm in my late 50s and born and raised in Los Angeles(born Inglewood) and my friends and I did some pretty serious street racing building cars in our teens and into our 20s with the help of money that we made giving people stuffy noses. Strictly Chevy, mouse and rat motors, 12 second 67 Camaro, high 9 second 69 Chevelle, and a low 8 second normal aspirated no nos 67 Nova all glass front clip , trunk lid, tubbed, with license plate and tags. My friend who owned the Nova owned a flatbed tow truck with a blown 454 and we'd put the Nova on the flatbed and go to Compton, Long Beach, the Valley and park the flatbed a couple blocks away from where everyone was gathered to do some serious money street racing and drive up in our cars including the Nova and start negotiating bets and the races.
That's what this cat Richie has that El Camino set up for. That is no track car. That is a G slinger street racer looking stock as possible with the stock suspension, column shift, and a 300 shot of NOS hidden behind the seat.
That is a money taker, street racer. Props to him and his clean ass El Cam.
His butt pucker was on level 10 😲😵💫🫨 for the majority of that ride along 🛣️💨💨

scrap those lap belts, get a roll cage, fire extinguisher and 4 point seat harness at least for riders. No need being busted up or crispy corpse in a nice car. I was taught spend the cash in HP and safety if you got it...
