Great review! Regarding the pricing, I'm surprised it costs so much in the UK. Here in Canada, a fully specced out G70 with the same 2.0T engine, tuned at 252hp and 260 lb-ft, only costs $55k CAD which roughly translates to under $35k GBP. Not sure why it costs so much more for the European market. Overall in North America, Genesis' G70 is great value for money, since the average European sedan costs at least $5-10k more.

Fantastic review, thank you. I am almost ready to pull the trigger on this car but I have yet to decide whether the shooting brake would be a better option.
Too bad you don't have the 3.3t, because it's a blast to drive and at around 46k US, it's a bargain for what you get. Do you have the Kia Stinger in Britain? If you do, I would recommend you drive that and see if you prefer that or the G70.
We all need to agree we all wish the shooting brake g70 came with the 3.3 for Europe and USA
Theirs a few things this car needs to make it perfect. First pertaining to the ttv6 theirs a 3.3 and 3.5 figure out which ones better and stick with that one. 2. The drive select needs to be moved from the column to the steering wheel and replaced with an infotainment wheel. 3. Speaker grilles should be all aluminum, ambient lighting needs to be a standard thing especially because the gv70 and up gets it. Probably should go back to the pre face-lift gage cluster or go all digital because the digital analog mix they picked isn't the move. And finally the back bumper needs that black section fixed it looks horrendously out of place. The new c class is definitely beautiful inside and out but they're forcing the hybrid shit on people and have utterly destroyed the c43amg wich was a twin turbo v6 in the w205 all it needed was a horse power bump to around 480 or so and launch control added they literally took away everything that made it a c43. Unfortunately they're going to gohead and run the brand into the ground trying to force people into things they don't want.
The g70 is an almost perfect car just a few things are needed to make it perfect for the money and what you're getting plus the looks and tunability and warranty if you want to leave it stock are amazing. I'd like to see a halo model with an r35 motor in it and an 8 speed call it the gr70 or g70R. I'd gladly pay 80k for it. And inevitably these few things being fixed in the face lift means the c class is beaten for cheaper you can have a car almost as good with a bomb warranty for cheaper the c300 basically starts at 60k and the c43 now only has the 4 cylinder from the a45 amg. I'd honestly pick g70 Over Mercedes especially for what you get for the price.
They need to also move that grille sensor behind the grille... I'd also like it if they changed the interior buttons to illuminate white
Also here in the states they're 55k fully loaded
