  • Empowering Students to combat barriers and achieve the dream of graduation
In an effort to empower our students to achieve the dream of graduation and job placement success, Delgado continuously strives to remove barriers to excellence and promote student retention. Domestic violence is a recognized deterrent both to pursuing education and improving life for all in our city, which was the impetus for the panel of key players in Domestic Violence Prevention in the New Orleans Metro area that Delgado hosted on the afternoon of March 29, 2024.
Panelists on Resources to Leave Domestic Violence situations included Federal Judge & panel co-organizer Jay Zainey, Municipal Judge Mark Shea, Municipal Judge Joseph Landry, Exec. Director Trashanda Grayes of New Orleans Family Justice Center, domestic violence prevention-focused social worker, Jo Ballanco, and long-time probation officer, Michael Groetsch - speaking on the processes & resources in place for people to escape.
Over 40 students and community partners attended and Delgado will be sharing the video of the entire presentation with any community members and organizations that request it, so that these important resources to empower growth and hope in our community can be shared and have a multiplier effect far & wide.
