    • @HypnOlli
      @HypnOlli Před 4 lety +16

      Audi describes the 5.2-litre V10 as a 'derivative' of the Lamborghini's V10, and in fact the 5.2 shares very few components with the 5-litre Lamborghini unit, the only significant shared parts being the drivetrain for the four camshafts. The reason is that the Audi V10s are built at the same factory as every other Audi engine, which, for economies of scale, has been configured to produce engines with a common 90mm bore spacing. The bore spacing of the Gallardo engine is 88mm. This is how the Audi V10 ends up with a different cylinder block, a new crankshaft, different pistons and new camshafts, while the more restricted engine bay, plus Audi's desire to give the engine its FSI direct injection, result in bespoke induction and exhaust systems and a new sump.

    I wish we had a few unrestricted stretches of road here in the UK. The government should do a big 5 lane autobahn that goes from north of London all the way to Scottland. Make it a (reasonably priced) toll road, so drivers have the choice (and keep vans and lorries well away) I'm sure that plenty of people would be bang up for giving that a go!!!

      @@incognito96 yeah, Germans are the ultimate in efficiency, no doubting that!!! The UK is generally ok, but could definitely improve on their lane discipline (we get lots of drivers that just sit in the middle lane and refuse to move over) Half of the problems we get are down to foreign drivers who (maybe) are used to driving on the right or just shouldn't be driving.

      We have plenty of open space here in the USA, but as was stated previously, more than one somebody would mess it up here, too. Slow drivers are constantly driving in the passing or overtake lane here in the States which is illegal in most states.

    • @davidkennedy1077
      @davidkennedy1077 Před 5 lety +6

      @@rusty3831 yeah, plenty of open space is a big understatement I hear haha!!! Do you not have any stretches Stateside that you can do big speeds??? Surely some of those desert roads, or other secluded roads are not heavily policed??? I've not been to the US so I dont know what the situation is there. In the UK we have well made motorways and ring roads that you can build some big speeds up on, but you are risking at least your licence (if you are doing big speeds you might be going to prison if caught!) I live in a small town in Essex that has a decent bypass/ring road that I used to do 130+mph daily for around 4 or 5 years in the 90s. I was driving my Astra GTE 2.0 ltr 16 valve hot hatchback in those fun/crazy years, and 135mph was absolutely flat out in a little 1989 car that would definitely killed me if I'd crashed haha!!! I never got caught, and even to this very day have never been caught speeding although I have slowed down considerably nowadays (I'm married with 3 kids now, so I have something to lose!) Cars are so much faster now too, with a lot of hot hatchbacks now doing 150+mph and 0-60mph in 5 or 6 seconds (my car used to do 60 in around 7 seconds) The AWD superhot hatches are doing 60 in under 4 seconds and some are doing 170mph at the top end. I think I would have died if I'd driven one of those bad boys!!!

    • @rusty3831
      @rusty3831 Před 5 lety

      David Kennedy - We have many highways that might be suitable for high speeds, but like you say, one risks the proverbial speeding ticket, loss of license, etc. Local police in any given jurisdiction can be nasty to deal with. Most highways have a 75 mph speed limit, and there might be some with an 85 mph, but not too sure of those.

      Not false at all.....

      @sebbekartellen6493 Před 5 lety

      ReflexFusion98 I don’t even know why I said that, I guess I was trying to say that: just because a car got like 460hp doesn’t automatically make it faster than my 300hp car because my car might have better aerodynamics, less weight, better grip etc.
      Imagine a race between a 500hp mustang and a 300hp Kawasaki H2 motorcycle. The motorcycle will win so damn hard even though it got 200hp less than the mustang. Why? Because the motorcycle weighs a lot less than the car.
      and my car got a lighter chassi than the Audi and that’s why it’s faster.
      Also I was lying all the time because my bmw is a touring model and it’s heavier and got a slower acceleration than the Audi. But it does have a higher top speed at 172mph
