EP32: Kakadu or Kakadont? That is the Question! | Kakadu National Park | Lap of Australia 2021

  • So is it a Kakadu or Kakadont? We certainly weren’t going to miss the adventure in Kakadu National Park, but what’s our verdict? After dropping Archie off in Darwin we stop by the Adelaide River to do the jumping crocodile boat tour, which gave us our first croc sighting on the trip, then onto Kakadu.
On our first day we take the long and corrugated road to reach Jim Jim Falls, and although there’s no waterfall this time of year, the gorge was absolutely breathtaking. We trek back to the car in the soaring heat and humidity then onto another stunning waterhole Maguk Falls where we couldn’t resist a swim.
We stop by Yellow Water to do see the large array of wildlife then stop at a couple of different areas within Kakadu, known for the rock art. One of those in particular, Ubirr really blew us away, then the views across the Kakadu wetlands were a complete surprise. We also had to stop by Cahills Crossing and watch the tides changes direction and spot crocodiles catching fish.
What an experience Kakadu is. Missing Archie, we rush back to Darwin to pick him up and discuss if it’s a Kakadu or Kakadont for us.

Poor Archie - losing you for 3 days. He really is a very tolerant and flexible boy. Australia seems to have a surprising number of watery highlights, (taking into account its largely desert landscape) but you seem to manage to find them all. A nice new top Hannah and liked the headgear. Hope you had the Factor 50 on as well. !!!

Hahaha yea we wished we did it now! Travelling so far means we have to pick and choose some things, maybe we should have done this and skipped something else haha! Thanks for watching!

$40 pp! Yeah it all needs to be open for sure. Sad to hear what’s happening in Kakadu. My wife and I visited back in 1988 and it was amazing. No photo restrictions I could remember. Thanks for sharing.

Yea it was so expensive, happy to pay a fee, but maybe $40 per vehicle is a better price, especially if some parts of the park are closed on occasion!

$40 per person for all those amazing sites sounds like a pretty good deal.

It’s probably fair when they are all open, but if 2 or 3 of them start to close it’s a little exy.

@@StaycationOz Maybe, it’s a pretty special place, regardless. Loved the video, by the way, and it’s nice to see our little Delica has a cameo at the caravan park!
