    Love this song! Jones on bass was crazy good, Plant's voice is incomparable. Few can emote with their voice quite like he can.
    Other songs have major tempo changes, "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" being an example, as well as what Page would describe as the use of "light and shade". It's a folk rock song, and another of my favorites. You likely noticed something else in this song that Zeppelin often did, which was the use of call and response. When they used it, it was usually between Plant and Page, but not always.
    It's really difficult to pigeon hole Zeppelin's music. Rock for sure, but with many aspects of blues, folk, some proto-punk and metal, even a bit of reggae, classical, raga, jazz, gospel and progressive rock, as well as other genres thrown in the mix. One really never knew what to expect from Zeppelin because they took their music anywhere they wanted to go with it, and it was all fabulous.
    If you'd like to experience their musical exploration, progression and evolution as a band as they moved through their years together, I do recommend starting from the beginning and going in chronological order. You'll also get a better mix of all the genres they pulled in. For example, album 1 has a mix of hard, folk, blues, proto-punk rock, album 2 is similar, then they took a turn with album 3 and incorporated some funk, bluegrass, even skiffle, and it was heavy on acoustics. Album 4 gave us more hard, blues, folk, and progressive rock. And so forth.
    Why Zeppelin's music is still listened to by millions of people, as well as covered and sampled, 43 years after they disbanded, why it "worked", might be best described by what John Paul Jones once said in an interview, which was, "I’ve always maintained that Zeppelin was the spaces between us. Bonzo [John Bonham] was into soul music and R&B ballads. I was into jazz and classical music. Jimmy was into blues, rockabilly, and folk, and Robert was into blues and Elvis Presley. None of us had the same record collection. Nobody on the outside of the band could understand this. But it was clear to me why it worked. We all loved music and learning new things .” And they were clearly gifted musicians so they were able to do what they did extremely well.
    Enjoyed your reaction and looking forward to the next.
    Edit: Oh, and yeah. That was definitely use of a euphemism. ;)

      Thanks J✌️. That actually makes a lot of sense now i'm listening to them. The fact they were all into different music shows in their songs. I'd imagine if they were all into the same kind of stuff they would have eventually pigeon holed themselves into one genre, where as from what i've heard so far, they have taken classic elements from different genres, mixed them together and made their own sound.
      Good stuff✌️🎸👍🎵

    Willie Dixon wrote I Can’t Quit You Baby, while Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters (as well as others) wrote music, Willie Dixon wrote many tunes that were sung by Howlin Wolf and Muddy Waters. I have videos of Willie Dixon playing bass for Howlin Wolf, I was also very fortunate to see Willie Dixon live way back when he played on my college campus.

    Led Zeppelin also recorded I Can't Quit You Baby which is another of their classics. But they don't just do blues songs. You have just been very good at picking them!

    Not to make it about me, but I do have a personal story about this album. One night when I was 16 years old, I was at my neighbors' house directly across the street. They were four daughters and their Sunday school mom. Lately a handful of Marines had been hanging around there (I wonder why), and one of them had left Zep II with one of the girls. We were listening to it while decorating the family's Christmas tree. Evidently I was the only one listening to lyrics (Not the first or last time that happened). I laughed about a particular passage of 'The Lemon Song' which prompted the mother to start the track over. All at once she took it off the turntable, put it in its jacket and handed it to me saying, "Take this with you when you go." As the girls howled in protest I accepted both the gift and the apparent invitation to leave. I apologized to all, went home and enjoyed my new record. 😎

    Andy, I love Zeppelin so this is great! But I'd like to introduce a new band to your channel: *The Electric Light Orchestra.* Or, *ELO,* for short. They were one of the biggest bands of the '70s, cranking out 47 Top 40 Hits in the US and UK combined--more than any other rock/pop band during their 15-year career (1972-1986). What made ELO unique and special was that they combined the standard array of electric rock instruments with the classical strings of a "light orchestra" (violin and cellos). To start, I suggest you react to their iconic 1975 hit, *"Evil Woman",* you'll love it! (Use the studio version from the original album called, Face The Music, which features a photo of an electric chair on the cover.)

    • @Andy_Tunereviews84
      @Andy_Tunereviews84  Před rokem

      Hi, Thanks for the suggestion 👍. I've heard of ELO. The only song I can think of off the top of my head is Mr. Blue Sky, but I may have heard some others🎶👍🎸✌️

    • @Cosmo-Kramer
      @Cosmo-Kramer Před rokem +1

      @@Andy_Tunereviews84 Cool. Yeah, that's why I didn't suggest, "Mr. Blue Sky", because so many youngsters like yourself have heard it in movies like, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and whatnot. Try the one I recommended, *"Evil Woman".* Even if you've heard the hook/chorus before, it would still be a legit 1st-time reaction because I doubt you've ever heard the song all the way through. And it is a total banger! Will ya give it a shot?

      @@Andy_Tunereviews84 Now THAT"S what I call service! lol Okay, cool. Don't forget to take it from the original album on which it appeared: ELO's 1975 album, Face The Music. I say that because the song appears on multiple "ELO's Greatest Hits" albums put out later, where they used a shortened version of the song. You want the full-length original song. It's only 16 seconds longer, but it's an important 16 seconds. Looking for to it. You just got my Subscription.
