Calon Lan
Nid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus
Aur y byd na'i berlau mân
Gofyn rwyf am calon hapus
Calon onest, calon lân.
Calon lân yn llawn daioni
Tecach yw na'r lili dlos
Does ond calon lân all ganu
Canu'r dydd a chanu'r nos.
Pe dymunwn olud bydol
Chwim adenydd iddo sydd
Golud calon lân rinweddol
Yn dwyn bythol elw fydd.
Hwyr a bore fy nymuniad
Esgyn ar adenydd cân
Ar i Dduw, er mwyn fy Ngheidwad
Roddi imi galon lân.

You can see the passion shown by the conductor on BGT and all of the members of the choir, beautiful song and beautiful rendition of it. You can see they are all proud of their heritage. Excellent.
Have listened to this so many times, and it still makes me shiver and cry with musical pleasure❤️. I’m not Welsh, but a 70 y/o Cornishman ,and the voices of these lads are just magical. Thank you lads and Tim
.,
there are a lot of bad things going on in this world............but these boys bring joy, happiness and are the epitome of togetherness, thank you TIM AND ALL!
I love these guys! Watched them perform Calon Lan on BGT and I can't get enough of them! Love the Don't Stop Believin! I hope they come to America because I would LOVE to see them perform!

I love the conductor's energy!
Me too 😁!!!! He's on of a kind and such an inspiration to everybody around him 👍
Absolutely joyful to listen to.These lads can be justifiably proud of themselves.Their enjoyment is obvious to see and it definitely is reflected in their vocals.I'd happily pay good money to go see them in concert.
these boys are indeed good...i dont understand what they are singing but i do enjoy listening to them...the melody is really good...greetings from the philippines!
I agree ... really do love Calon Lan. I can't help it.... Yo! Just a lovely song in word and spiirit ...A Pure Heart!
My heart goes out to this choir and it's amazing leader from Denmark 💗🇩🇰
What a voices, amazing choir! Guys, you're fantastic! This have to give some hope in your region and in all the same difficult places in this world!
no matter the language...
they're amazing!!
Guys I am Cornish,I have visited Wales on many occasions and there is one thing that sticks in my mind more than anything else, how you are all proud of your Language and Heritage,I only wish in Cornish Schools they would teach the Cornish Language as they teach Welsh in Wales.
Not only are you a Credit to this Country of ours, you are all a Credit to WALES,but most of all and above all else,YOU ARE A CREDIT TO YOURSELVES.Brilliant Guys.OUTSTANDING.
ONAN HAG OL,ONE AND ALL.
- what the Welsh are world famous for - We need them, as the older fella's are getting on a bit. GREAT - Wales is on the comeback... with their massive spiritual music.... I have an olde Welsh hymn book, small, 1830 and has 1,000 Welsh hymns in it ! and they're long one's too ! We need this Welsh music today more than ever...
Loved to hear some of the other singers. What great voices. Congrats to this fantastic group of singers.!!!!!
They made me cry. It was the most beautiful song and they were Amazing!!!!
Be proud of your heritage boys! :) Awesome!
I had never heard this song till sung on BGT, but I love it, and can't get it out of my head! Sure wish I could sing it in welsh!? Good Luck and God Bless!
I've been watching and listening to this video a lot lately. Absolutely brilliant sound on both songs. I love the way the harmonies are layered.
Well done everyone 👏 👍
OMG this is so beautiful, gives me peace in my heart... love it!! i hope this boys will win BGT!!
wow.. I heard this song for the first time now but simply love it. Those boys can sing !!!
Beautiful voices
New swedish fan. I just hope they'll make an album soon. I'd love to listen to more music of this kind.
This must be a reason for young boys to join a choir.
What is more beautiful than experience this kind of music.
Calon Lan gets me every time. Fantastic!
What I like about these guys is that they are singing because they want to and not because they have to.
Brilliant!!
I was pretty hooked to Jonathon and Charlotte until I saw this. Now, I'm rooting for these boys. They could not have picked a better song to perform...massive fan here in the US.
What a great performance guys...Greetings from California!
Thank you for Translating it to English it makes it more enjoyable to know now what is being sung, again Thank you.
Pure Heart ❤️ love it
I can never understand a bloody word these boys sing, and what worries me is that it still gives me goosebumps! HOW?
Gives you goosebumps because of the musical cord... each human being has a sense of sound... music combines the sound into cords and creates notes.. and with a choir you are listening to many notes and layers... and with layers creates power and sound.. the goosebumps you feel are from you could say the musical layers and resonance in the voices and the layers in the music... its a lot for the mind to take in at once.. and are brains are sensitive... hence why words and music mean so much.
Tejas Datta The Welsh love to sing. I mean they really love to sing; it shows.
+Tejas Datta Music is the international language. It crosses all cultural lines.
Too True!
@@tejasdatta Welsh has been called the language of heaven and lends itself to song. It's not just the music it's the language. I listen to some Welsh folk songs and the mystery and shivers it brings me, it's like something magical and mysterious and impossibly beautiful all rolled into one language ...
So far, they are my favorited in the 2012 BGT competition.
Thanks for sharing with us.
Lorraine
Just amazing! 👏🏼👏🏼
i love the welsh version!
This isn't just Only Boys Aloud, the Only Men Aloud guys are there as well helping them out as well. Love them both, adore this song so much it stirs the soul. Only Men Aloud was the last concert I went to before I left Wales in 2010, I took my mam as a treat at Christmas. Keep up the good work boys and pob lwc with BGT.
They make it cool to be in a choir!
they are an inspiration, listening to them, thinking about the youth in Wales (as per their interview on BGT) my heart fills with hope for their futures!!! simply outstanding!!!
Absolutely beautiful...
Wow! I watched this in awe & wonder, tears rolling down my cheeks. Their families and friends must be very proud as this is just fantastic!! Da Iawn!!
From the southern lands downunder our southern lights will once again align with the northern lights and together they will illuminate in each one of you all that is bloody awesome about being honest, passionate and pure - Only great things come from those who only seek to fulfill there destiny - Yours will be night to remember! All the best from New Zealand.

I can see why. I dont understand a word of it and it makes me emotional every time I hear them. Although I bet I could translate Don't Stop Believing. :)

I love listening to Only Boys Aloud but I much prefer their song choices to be Welsh hymns rather than American Rock. I'm from the U.S. and it isn't so much that I don't appreciate their efforts, it's just that I so love to hear them sing the hymns. These young men are incredible!!!
You do yourselves and your country proud - great to listen to such a great bunch of voices - keep it coming!
I don't ask for a luxurious life,
the world's gold or its fine pearls,
I ask for a happy heart,
an honest heart, a pure heart.
A pure heart full of goodnessIs fairer than the pretty lily,None but a pure heart can sing,Sing in the day and sing in the night.
If I wished for worldly wealth,
It would swiftly go to seed;
The riches of a virtuous, pure heart
Will bear eternal profit.
(Chorus) Evening and morning, my wish
Rising to heaven on the wing of song
For God, for the sake of my Saviour,
To give me a pure heart.
Is that the translation? The words are as beautiful as the music
I absolutely love this choir!! Does anyone know if they've ever sung "Hallelujah"? I bet they'd do a KILLER job of it!!
I have said it before, and I mean it even more. This organization should be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. The leadership has made such an impact on each of these young mens' lives and those who experience their singing.
AMAZING!!!!! I love it and I want to hear more 💗. The leader of the choir is such an inspirational human being!!!
These guys are fabulous. I hope the camaraderie and good times last them a life time!
Just saw these guys on Britain's Got Talent and they were awesome xx
Thanks!! :) I was so impressed with the first time I heard them, I have listened to them over and over and OVER again!! Calon Lan was new to me the first time they did it and I had goosebumps and the hair on my arms was standing straight up. Tim is to be congratulated on the work he continues to do for these young men.
Okay. All of us English speakers out there. We see there young men (Not boys despite their group name) singing a song we all know..in Welsh...How many of us heard every word still in English? The transcendence of music.
Daniel Baca I* should have said Singing in Cymric
Daniel Baca Cymraeg* but I know what you mean :) Language is funny like that, of course I heard this first in Welsh, but I'm not a Welsh speaker so when I first read the lyrics it was in a dual-language format. So when I hear it I kinda hear it simultaneously in both languages. It helps that it's a stunning song :)
Daniel Baca
being a Bevan I know that my grandparents must have been Welsh but they did not ever speak Welsh but when I married a fellow born in England whose folks all spoke welsh I asked why they didn teach the children to speak Welsh
they said we didnt always want the children to know what we are talking about !!!
+talboters44 That is quite silly. Grandparents were punished in school for speaking Welsh and Welsh speakers got the impression it was a low class language perhaps akin to swearing actually it is a beautiful and very expressive language suitable for poetic expression. I only wish I spoke it better.
Donald when my mother in law came back on hols from the USA we took her to nth Wales to see her old home whilst there we ate in a local cafe and all folks were speaking in Welsh she got up from the table and tore a strip off some locals for making apparently rude remarks about us they got quite a shock
believe you me.When needing visitors to spend cash in ones area you do not insult them.I have been in the hotel business and learnt to speak a few words of each language
to make people feel welcome when they came.
very well done boys..
Ireland wishes you all well..
keep up the good work..
Love the boys and the song. Cannot stop listening to it!
Absolutely beautiful song and the choir gives me chills!
These guys rock!!!! Good luck on BGT!
i'm glad ppl love journey even in wales makes me so happy
wow they keep on going higher with their performances ,well done Wales.
I hope they sing don't stop believing in the semi finals!! they are awesome!!
Beautiful voices. :)
Very Good Loved every second! talk about goosebumps! and a tear in the eye! love all of these boys! xoxo
Que lindo.... DEUS os abençoe grandemente.........
Beautiful.
though I don't understand the lyrics yet I really like the melody. The boys are fantastic. Their voices are angelic....
Amazing!!!! I am in love with all of them!
i love how energetic the conductor... :D
Holy god!!!!!!! I gotta stop watching things like this, me body goes all tingly.......
Loves eeing these boys. Myndin favourite singers.
Wonderful, an absolute credit to Wales. I will vote for them on BGT! ;-)
Awesome! Makes me wanna sing with them!
This is how amazing they are at Calon Lan, to my mind: they make Don't Stop Believing seem like the LESS awesome song xD
This is what heaven sounds like. I love, love, love them and want to listen to them all the time. Where can I buy the CDs....
Love to hear joyful young male voices lifted in song, the Welsh is entrancing ...
Keep up the good work enjoy all of you with so many look lile you are having so much fun love to hear you
No matter what language they are great
So why are you even saying something like that? I don't care about your sexuality anymore than I care about theirs. It is rude and hurtful among many other things. Tim and the young men he teaches to sing both melody and harmony are so talented and if I were from Wales, I would be so incredibly proud to have them represent my country. They are awesome singers!!
How could there be a question of how good Wales is when boys like this come from there. This is only a small segments of the kids. Maybe not all singers but surely all worthy of the title Welsh and proud of it.
bois bach Wales and beyond are all proud of you......Its cool for all men to sing (boys too) You cant beat a male voice choir, and when its also welsh then my friend you have the alignment of the musical planets....Its in the blood and dont let anyone persuade you otherwise. Respect.
I can't understand Welsh, but this is beautiful!!!
Well done boys. Saw you in Cardiff - BRILLIANT.
A lyrical flowing language of magical poetry.
ok guys, stop making this 40 year old alabama man cry from all this amazing singing!!!
These boys all deserve a fantastic future can someone please give Wales some industry never mind hs2 go to Wales instead
Excellent music. Really talented boys. I always have an interesting reaction to hearing "pop" songs in languages other than English--Welsh, particularly. The language intensifies the experience for me--and I like the Don't Stop Believing song anyway. :)
They can and do sing in English since they are all bilingual but Calon Lan is a Welsh song one of the many from the vast collection of Welsh poems and songs that of which some people are not aware. This language is derived from the language spoken in Britain 2000 years ago much changed of course (and like those in the rest of Europe) when the Romans and later when the Angles and Saxons arrived on those shores. Not everybody knows this. Thought you might like to though.
This was a message to Andri Lindjarv (sorry about the spelling) who complained that the boys were not singing in English.
Good try ,however, the Welsh language is known to be the oldest European language. You are limiting the date to AD while it is well documented that the Welsh were speaking before the Roman occupation. So try again Donald.
Ian Carey Of course. The Celtic tribes that met the Romans in (when was it) 54 BC did not speak the Welsh that we speak today but spoke an antecedent langage from which the Welsh language (Cymraeg) was developed and that is why we Welsh often think speak proudly of our language as Yr Hen Iaith ( the Old Language). The language was influenced by Latin and there are many words that were borrowed from latin for example Ysgol (school), llyfr (book) and many that owe their origin to its Indo-European roots for example plentyn (children) mynydd (mountain). Of course there are many words of Anglo-Saxon origin or Norman French. I find it strange that the Romano-Celtic language of Great Britiain influenced the language of the Anglo Saxons so little and apart from place names in Scotland, Wales and Cornwall have left little trace. As you know before the Roman occupation of Europe the numerous Celtic tribes were spread from the Atlantic Ocean to east to Turkey and from the Rhine River south to the Mediterranean. The invaded Italy at one point and sacked Rome and were believed by the more sophisticated Greeks to be barbarians. I am not a expert philologist but I do find languges fascinating.
Donald Edward that is fascinating
The Welsh language is the oldest known European language. Many scholars are still dumb founded by the writings found upon some of the old Celtic crosses.
This is amazing!! I feel very privileged to know at least 4 people who are part of this amazing choir!! Da Iawn PAWB!!! XD xx
i don't understand the first song... but whenever i listen to it.. can't help my tears falling from my eyes.... so heartwarming and enchanting.....
you say this like the second song wasn't welsh either :P lol
I know what the second song means.... it was translated only....
Calon Lan in English:
I don't ask for a luxurious life,
the world's gold or its fine pearls:
I ask for a happy heart,
an honest heart, a pure heart.
A pure heart is full of goodness,
More lovely than the pretty lily:
Only a pure heart can sing -
Sing day and night.
If I wished worldly wealth,
He has a swift seed;
The riches of a virtuous, pure heart,
Will be a perpetual profit.
Late and early, my wish
Rise to heavan on the wing of song,
To God, for the sake of my Saviour,
Give me a pure heart.
Karen Battenbough Thank you so much for the translation. I was a19 yr old foreign student nurse @ the Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Oswestry on the border of England & Wales, when this elderly frail lady who had not spoken for a while gently started to sing Calon Lan this song. Made me cry then, 39 years ago and again today. I was homesick for Dominica. Somehow it soothed me. It was a turning point for me. I now know why. WOW Thanks again Karen. Cymru Ambyth!
you're welcome. it's quite a lovely song. it makes me burst with pride at the fact i'm welsh every time i hear it hahah.
IK ben ook nederlands, maar gelukkig wel begrijpen wat Welsh, Engelse en Nederlandse zelf woon ik in wales, briljant koor
Thank you so much!
I am so proud to be Welsh
Fantastic Thank you you boys.Stockholm.
really lovely choir and lovely song... marvellous..well done
now THAT's pretty much the only reason i watched bgt this year..and i dont understand a word of it :) shows how amazing it is, cos you dont need to know the language to be moved.
The Welsh Dragon, roars! "Don't stop believing" - if Only Boys Aloud needed a motto, then surely that's it. God bless you, guys!
You have a really good point!
I'm watching your videos from France and I hope I will have the chance to see you live one day !!
I love it.. But don't people in the UK (audience) stand on their feet for such great performers?! I would stand on my feet clapping for them for ten minutes at least..
Only Boys Aloud and Only Men Aloud in one stage!!!
Im welsh and even if i wasnt id still vote for you, we're all proud of you all.
