GoldenEye 007 is a first-person shooter video game developed by Rare and based on the 1995 James Bond film GoldenEye. It was released for the Nintendo 64 video game console in August 1997. The game features a single-player campaign in which players assume the role of British Secret Intelligence Service agent James Bond as he fights to prevent a criminal syndicate from using a satellite weapon against London to cause a global financial meltdown. The game includes a split-screen multiplayer mode in which up to four players can compete in different types of deathmatch games.
This longplay is done on 00 Agent which is the hardest difficulty that can unlock the Aztec Complex & Egyptian Temple bonus stages. -

This game paved the way for FPS games. It's definitely one of the greatest games of all time. I'll leave it like this... I went through FOUR Nintendo 64s, I was on this game like white on rice 😆

When I played this game 4 player Multiplayer with friends as a kid was the best the amount of laughter we had, the funny deaths, and the best moments. I’ll always treasure those moments wish I could relive it again. 😭

If not for Doom, Duke, and Quake, there would have been no urging to make Goldeneye into a free roam first person shooter. It would have been a side scroller, a 3rd person platformer, or as it was planned to be a light gun-style game.
The boom of the FPS genre starts with Doom, Duke, and Quake. Everything after that is living up to those legends in one way or another. Goldeneye's one claim to fame is that it was hugely successful on consoles, and to pave the way for successes like Halo. That's it.

For those who didn't try it before - there is an Project64 emulator for GoldenEye and Perfect Dark which uses mouse and keyboard for mouse aiming and WASD-controls. Try it, it plays PERFECTLY, as if it was intended for playing on computers.

The control style "1.2 Solitaire" on the N64 version was kind of trying to imitate those controls.

Still playing this on my RGB 60hz N64 in glorious 240p CRT, I genuinely feel sorry for anyone who missed out on it. The closest any console got to it at the time was Medal of Honor on PS1 which despite using dual sticks still felt a generation behind.

One of my all time favourites growing up my family and played it all time including multiplayer mode this game was also way better than the other 007 games
Love the "squish" sound it makes, when you run over the enemy with the tank. That's cool.
One of my top 64 games and one of my top Bond films. Think my favorite aspect of the game is how they work the traditional James Bond theme into the soundtrack during various level music.
You can play the multiplayer part of this game on the PC in Goldeneye: Source. Same maps and gameplay, but with updated graphics.

These long plays are great, but nothing compares to the long play of 8 and 10 year old brothers playing this game trying to figure it out, and then finally getting the book.. and the neighbors coming over to play the quad screen 4 player

Still remains the biggest leap for me, personally, in a graphic jump. Before playing this, I was playing the likes of Super Mario All Stars, Jurassic Park (SNES), Top Gear 2.

Legendary FPS game. Still own it and beaten it 100%. The bonus level Egyptian is always my favorite. I love killing enemies with the infamous Golden Gun (and Gold PP7).

Finally beat this game for the first time today. One of the very few FPS games I’ve played and the first ever FPS game I’ve beaten.
Aside from this guy waiting in spots to get an easy kill on like 1 or 2 guys I enjoyed the playthrough. I could understand that tactic for big groups but he was doing it all the time for like 2 guys like get going lol

I played hours upon hours of this game! I remember buying the GameShark cartridge for N64 to get all the cheats! Me and my friends would do hours of split screen VS each other! Oh the times!

I remember playing multiplayer with my friends for hours. Paintball mode, DK mode, playing as odd job, and jaws. DK mode was funny, playing with big heads and arms like donkey Kong.

Some of the facts of the soldiers (especially the ones on the Train mission) gave me childhood trauma lol. Still a kick ass game

You can actually stand on the second floor during the whole "Protect Natalya" part, as long as you stand as close to Natalya as possible - this makes it much easier to kill the incoming guards on the stairs there.

Granted this game was revolutionary for it's time. Game could of been much better if the artificial intelligence wasn't so dumb. You could predictably expect the computer to completely unload his gun while you take cover and then simply walk up blow them away since they need to reload. Also there are some parts in the game where the enemies literally go on forever until you complete your objective.

Something surreal about the NPCs faces always creeped me out.
They still do to be honest. I think it was the realism of their facial features contrasted by their robotic reactions. Especially those little sidesteps they do to avoid your gunfire.
The Donkey Kong “cheat” however negated all of that.
