  • Join me as I rockhound in a dry creek bed looking for agates, unakite, jasper, and quartz gemstones! My adventure took an unexpected turn after following a culvert into some burning nettle, then finding my best finds in an unassuming place! At the end of the video, I take you through cleaning the rocks and their beautiful results! Thanks for watching! :)

    Yes EVERYONE do not neglect the gravel roads. Last Friday I found a 4oz. clear green agate on/in my favorite gravel road. The first one in 19 years of off and on agate hunting. Nice finds Ariel.

      I found a shitton of beautiful green serpentine at my last job in the gravel. We had full gravel pathways around the nursery, and whenever it rained you could easily see the beautiful green 🤩🤩🤩

    I am delighted to see your enthusiasm for this hobby!
    The "join date" of your channel nearly coincides with my entrance to rockhounding and tumbling. For Christmas 2020 I received a tumbler from my wife - and I was hooked from the start. I now have seven barrels going, each grit-dedicated, and I hope to get more.
    I live in the Rio Grande Valley which happens to be one of the best places on the planet (not an exaggeration) for rockhounding. The RGV is the opposite of "a Place You'd Least Expect" because I've come to expect that a rockhounding moment can and will occur anywhere, at anytime! Agates and petrified wood litter the ground - really. I have no special place, no secret location, nowhere off the beaten path, for finding outstanding material for tumbling. The pieces of petrified wood that are too big for tumbling now line some of our landscaping. When I need smaller tumbling media I just walk over to the roads next to the shopping plaza/theatre and scoop up a hand full of small agates while staying on the sidewalk. It's everywhere here in the valley.

    Yeees! Dirt roads for the win!!!😂 never know what you might turn up! Looove working with unakite, such pretty stuff with a polish😁 we dont have much unakite in montana so its always a good day when i spot some; agates all over but hardly any unakite😂 awesome video! Keep em coming!😁

    • @AgateAriel
      @AgateAriel  Před 2 lety +1

      Right! It is so crazy what awesome stuff you can find on dirt roads! Unakite is definitely becoming quite the favorite of mine-especially when it’s polished! So jealous of agates all over Montana! That sounds awesome! 😊

  • @CityRockhounding

    Yes, this is awesome. So excited some of my best finds so far are from gravel roads, and my biggest too. Geode pieces, some agates, jasper, quartz chalcedony and a ton of black obsidian all found on gravel roads or off gravel road in the ditches. I even go on Google maps, zoom way in 3D or road side views on gravel roads and ditches. What a cool video, super inspired now!
