- If you want to pull up to the trailhead with a mountain bike that most people in the US haven’t seen in person before, then we have a treat for you. Many of us can’t afford a rare and exotic car like a Bugatti or Ferrari but when it comes to mountain bikes it can be a little more attainable. In this video, Jeff walks us through his experience with the Spanish bike brand Mondraker and their enduro/trail steed the Foxy Carbon 29. If you’ve never heard of Mondraker you aren’t alone. They are well known in Europe but fairly new to the US market. If you are looking for something that’ll turn heads, this mountain bike is for you. Whether it’s the distinctive flat top tube joining the unique looking head tube, or the carbon suspension linkage leading into the offset seat stay/dropouts, it definitely does not look like your average mountain bike. Check it out!

What do you think of the Foxy 29? Would it be your bike of choice? Let us know!
Worldwide Cyclery What’s wrong with bottoming out suspension in your opinion?
You guys rep Mondraker now? Didn’t know. Having a Yeti now, I can’t imagine a better bike, although I’ve always wanted a Mondraker. Is it worth leaving the tribe? (Not this 29 particularly as I rode 27.5”)
A Mondraker or a Pole would be my next frame choice. I am impressed with the Mondraker suspension setup, a demo ride would probably pry my pocket open. I was also considering their Dune model as well, my choice will be an aluminum frame.
I was looking to get a Mondraker. Unfortunately there was no bike dealers around that sold them near me. I ended up getting another bike I really liked, a Yeti SB150. Love it and it is my favorite bike to date. Maybe next time I am in the market I will try the Mondraker if I could get you guys to ship me one:)
Looks sweet! Curious does it pedal good enough for a long time hardtail\ss rider? I finally purchased a fs bike last year, new stumpy st when released, just not getting along with it. Any fs bikes you recommened for a hardtail/ss rider with not such a low bottom bracket height? East cost rider, pedal strike city!
The bike is cool, but I’m more impressed with a young, seemingly successful business owner taking risks to provide customers with exotic options, while still taking time to provide comprehensive test, review, and technical videos to fellow bike nerds for free.
Awesome guys, thanks for the love, awesome video!!
Thank you for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed the video :)
Santa Cruz Megatower next?
That top tube is so thin! Looks sick!!
Logan Mulally Mondraker top tube vs yt tues down tube
Yt tues top tube can a few hits mondraker...1
even if that bike didn't ride good, it would win on looks alone !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've watched this and a few other videos about this exact bike and bought it 1-2 weeks later, changed the carbon bars to race face next and mt7 brakes, and its my favorite bike ever. feels great on big jumps, pure shredder in the bike park, and is really practical for training laps in the woods aswell.
this is the koenigsegg or pagani of the bike world to me xD the carbon is just beautiful made !!
(Y) Great review and amazing bike (Y)
Awesome! I'm glad you like it, it's truly an amazing bike.
I would say apollo IE
I bought a size Medium bike with a 425 mm reach. I hate the on-top-of- the-bike feelness of it. Money wasted there. 470 mm reach on a size Medium sounds like heaven.
goodness the lines on this frame look so clean and nice. definitely one of the most aesthetically pleasing silhouette of a modern bike i've seen in a while.
I own a dune rr, I absolutely love it and I’d buy another mondraker. Glad you’re a dealer. 👍🏻
i rode a mondraker downhill bike recently and boy it felt like a magic carpet that just liked to go fast. Absolutely loved it. And they look awesome. I have yet to find a bike that does not look good of them or that gets a bad review. They really know how to make bikes.
Love it, totally agree Jeff. I love the looks of those mondraker DH rigs, and the foxy 29 is no exception. Totally rad your one of three distributors, def something id consider in the future!
Favorite brand ever..
The podium rr is the most beautiful bike I ever seen..
Nice to see mondraker in your video
Your reviews are always informative and you leave no stone unturned. You know ur stuff and have ur finger on the pulse of what we want to hear..and nice bike
Thank you for the kind words!
Not a lot of people can handle the Mondraker bikes..I've ridden quite a few bikes from unknown Taiwanese brands to a Lapierre Black DH, a GT Sanction, a Giant Trance and Reign, and many others. Now I'm on a custom Mondraker Dune. Hands down, probably the best bike I'm riding now. If you're an experienced mountain biker, you'd like the Forward Geometry Mondraker has on their bikes. The bike just wants to go fast. If you can't handle it, you just might need a bit more experience before going for the brand.
Just got this bike myself yesterday and i only can say its sick af 😍
got one 3 weeks ago, its amazing, stunning looks, awesome downhill, but what surprised me most was how well it climbs. It climbs so much better than my 130mm travel hardtail (altough a 650B), was really surprised by this TBH
Interesting and good to hear. Thinking of getting one and was wondering about climbing ability
Difficult to understand geo, but riding its bigger brother, the Dune- made me fall in love with mondrakers foward geometry 😁
I demo’ed this bike recently and have to admit... I wanted to hate it and tried to act like I hated it. I loved it and it is still at the forefront of my to buy list for upcoming build out.
Great review of a FANTASTIC bike!!!
Love my Mondraker Foxy 29 R. Totally agree on the value, that was the one gut punch to the whole thing, but the rarity and beauty of the bike won out in the end for me. Already outfitted it with a few upgrades from WorldWide Cyclery - namely RaceFace Next 35mm carbon bars and a 34t AB Oval. Next is a set of i9 Enduro 305 Wheels and Hydra hubs!
Killer looking bike and a great review. Thanks!
Proud owner of a 2019 Carbon Dune R :]
I know a guy who already went through five broken chain stays on his mondraker. Surprisingly he still loves his bike
Saw that bike when I was recently in Barcelona....it’s gorgeous
That 29 hardtail with integrated stem looked sick!👍😍
The bike is absolutely beautiful. I love long reach bikes like the Sentinel so it might be something that would speak to me. But with the cost I don't think I'll get to find out
All what you said is also true w/ the summum, their downhill bike, which is the most fun giving bike i have ever ridden, this beast pedals really well, better than some enduro bikes (im talking about a downhill beast), is super agile but still well planted, and it always pushes you to go faster. This bike is absolutely great, and if you can just jump on it and ride it down your favorite bike park!
I'm a fan of Mondraker for almost 4 years now.
The forward geometry makes total sense and I don't know why no one else thought about it.
I would love to own one...but that would kill my bank account. 😅
Maybe one day......😑💭
I just bought a 5 year old Dune XR - needed a few bits changing over but I got a (UK)£4500 bike for £1000 :) have a look around.
Since November 2019 I have exactly your test bike the Foxy RR but in size L, in this great color. I was away from mountain biking for a few years and was surprised how much safety this bike offers. Of course I had a lot of fun shredding with it from the beginning.
I ride a 2018 27.5 foxy and absolutely love it. Top quality bike and so much fun to ride.
Demoed that exact bike, love it! Out of our 15-ish bike shops here in Boise only 1 gets these. Wish I could buy one.......
Great review Jeff, I love mine ;)
Demoed one in Northstar last summer. Wish I had spent more time on it. I really like the look, paint job, the way it was so planted in the rock gardens and playfull on top of it at the same time. Damn I should have done more then just one lap! Lol.
I have a 2016 mondraker carfty r+ myself (size xl and I live in europe). They are definitely huge! I also really like my bike and while it wouldn’t be smart to compare a 2016 140 mm travel 27,5” plus bike to this new 150mm travel 29” bike I can confirm that mine also needs more volume spacers than come stock. I also really like the looks. Yes the value isn’t the greatest, and resale value is actually surprisingly low (at least here) they do put a lifetime warranty on their frames, which considering the weight is quite nice. Nice Video and you really hit the important points well!
Greetings from Germany!
Thank you for the feedback!
Great review, completely agree with you on sizing. I was in Brevard NC over the holiday last week and demoed a Foxy RR from Squatch Bikes & Brews. They are the only demo distributor in the state. Only had one day on the bike but I was blown away. The bike eats up the gnar and steep downhill stuff, climbs like a goat and was very stable at high speed. Love it, just wish the price point was a little lower. I was on an XT build and that retails for around $6,000
1 of my mates got 1 not long ago n his shredability went way up
Like trails he used to be just holdin on n tryin to survive hes now carvin down with style
We’ve got the Foxy RR SL in medium and absolutely love it, only 26.2lb so super light!
Great vid, I used to run a Crafty R+ 2016 in XL. Purchased second hand for a steal but it was way to big for me, so long. Have a HTLT now in an XL feels great but would not right off the Mondraker for the future, look so good, I would just need to size down. 🤛🏻💥
It's a bike I've been looking at for a long time. super cool bike.
I ride a mondraker here in the uk and can't fault it, just spent a week riding a santa cruz hightower in the alps and can honestly say I'd have the mondraker, I'm 5"8 and a M is perfect for me
I just purchased a s-works enduro, But i'd have to say that Mondraker is one sexy beast :) I'd happily park it in my shed.
I love the Foxy the frame reminds me of a DJ frame for some reason plus I like how the rear triangle meshes perfectly with the front. If I was allowed to purchase one I would My biggest problem with it being carbon and being a big guy that top tube scares me I would be scared if I fell on that top tube after crashing it. But besides that I love how the reach is too that is awesome it would make you feel like you are more "In" the bike. Good review!!
I was considering 5his bike but like mentioned demoing one is really hard. The bike looks beautiful!
I’m watching the video and I’m going that looks like my neighborhood 🤔 Had no idea you had a shop around me 😂😂😂😂
Just saw one of these for the first time yesterday in UCSC
7:49 predicted the future
................ just installed my new Renthal Carbon Stealth bars that I got from you... Badass!! Oh yea, good video lol
Great review as always! I would like to hear a little more dial down on the components. What's the drivetrain? Front sprocket size? I liked the comment on bike frame sizes. I too am 5'-8", and I normally ride a Medium with 29ers. But Ive noticed, if the frame is a large and paired with 27.5" wheels with a beefy 2.4-3.0 tire, I can sit nicely on a large frame. It's just that 1"-1.5" difference.
Lovely looking bike, though as you say not particularly competitively priced. But tbf its not too far out of line with some other brands, cause there are definitely pricier bikes out there 😂.
They're more common here in the UK as you'd expect. Also, the paintjob on that one looks great
A Pole mention! I'll be ordering a Machine from them soon
I get a special feeling when I look at this bike
Good review. I'd love to hear your thoughts on a La Sal Peak.
Not a fan of the color but the lines of that frame are gorgeous, yes that would be on my radar for a future bike.
I've had ma 2018 Mondraker Dune for 18months now and absolutely love it. It's a 27.5 with 170/160 travel.
So if ya think the Foxy is good going down hill, try a Dune ;)
Also, it's great to see a Mondraker state side ;)
The Dune is still somewhat more beautiful than the Foxy, because it has the slight bend at the top of the top tube.
Can you review IBIS RIPMO please:)
Sick Bike! I love my Lapierre because its a great bike and in the USA most don't even know about it! Lapierre 2019 Zesty and Spicy are pretty sweet if you don't know about them? That foxy is Sick!
Dune or Foxy Carbon is what I dream about! 😍
Can y’all try and do a review on the Nukeproof Mega 275 factory?
Would love to see a Scott Ransom 900 Tuned Review! SB150 vs Ransom vs Foxy
Would love to see some reviews of the 2021 model foxy and superfoxy
I love mondraker i think they look fantastic. Can you make a video about mondraker dune r
Really sick bike love the color my favorite .. must be nice smh
soon to be owning one 🙂
Please also do a review about the Mondraker Superfoxy
Loving the look of this, great review! Wondering if I should size down to an M? I'm 6 feet tall but the reach of an M is longer than any large I've ever ridden!! I tend to ride a lot of tight and steep stuff rather than fast and open. Hmm.
My local trails, Bike popularity (Melbourne Australia) Giant, Specialized, Yeti, Mondraker, trek
Well the bike looks cool
the mondraker Foxy RR was on my list of 29ers, but read it was not a very good climber for midwest trails bcs of its lenght, so I bought a sb5.5 through you guys...lol
Thank you for your support! How are you liking the 5.5?
That bike reminds me of that one song... oh yeah... HOT HOT HOT
Heres a thing of note* Anyone whos ever built up a bike knows that the frame size is much less important than the geometry #'s. All of it is kind of just a starting point. All of those #'s are affected by the saddle position, stem length, crank arm length, bar width, saddle height, tire size, stem stack height, even the tiny stuff like tire psi and sag settings can affect all of that. So when I hear people going on for ever about comparing this bike to that bike and how this manufacturer feels, etc, etc. It gets reaal riduculous, because just about any bike can be set up any # of possible ways. Folks understand that frames are just that. Like mentioned above, find out what works for you, pay attention to what feels good, then look at the corresponding #'s
I usually ride a medium and 27.5, and I ended up demoing a size large foxy with a dropper that was too long at a local trails anniversary party. You can imagine how massive it felt. Which is a shame cause I could tell it was a great bike. It was set up with a coil in the back and it felt soooo plush. Hopefully I can demo my actual size some day.
Looks amazing jeff, they are fairly rare in the uk but becoming looked at a lot now !! & being noticed
Question to ask you !
Re; Yeti SB 150 as you know it comes with a 170 grip 2 fork upfront, i'm thinking of dropping to a 160 grip 2 as i'm thinking of doing a custom build would this make the bike a little more poppy ! & would it climb a little better ? As it would make the head Angle a little steaper & lower the bottom bracket a little !
Cheers jeff.
You are spot on. Dropping the fork 10mm on that bike would be no issue and just do exactly what you are thinking. Climb better, lower bb and slightly steeper head angle. Not a bad idea at all.
I like the foxy29
Would you be open to making a video on comparing different suspension systems?
Review the rock shox pike I know it’s sort of old but it’s still good
I think seat tubes are going to start coming back 75 seems about right. some of these bikes are going 78 thats getting a little silly. I like the longer reach on many of the new bikes. I just bought a Canyon Lux and really would have liked an xl for reach im 6 foot but the seat tube ends up being to long. Sizing is more confusing than it used to be.
I got 1 month ago a model like that in L size, the thing is simply amazing, butt I'll agree with u, it need couple more spacers in the rear suspension, as i already also bottom it out couple times
@12:45 i was just waiting on the paperboy music to kick in
Which bikes do you consider as the best superbikes? And why do you think it is on toe with them, isn't it one of them?
Thanks in advance for your answer!
Im getting alu version soon and im really looking forward to it. I just hope that 160 mm fork wont be too long for daily xcish driving,of course i ride lots and lots of techinal trails but also easier too 🤷
foxy is kinda cool!...but.......Fezzari La sal Peak please. ; )
I would totally ride the foxy carbon 29 but can’t find the prices anywhere
and here I am scratching my helmet and wondering if should I get a Foxy AL, Foxy Carbon or a Dune AL. I am trying to come back to FR/AM after 10 years and I am mostly lost. I am looking to use it to go work, go on a trail, and some occasionally big jumps. I am not looking to shave of another sec. on every round but I am looking to have some fun, so I will most likely jump left and right on every bump. Anyone got any ideas? Thank you .
Hi Jeff, I am also 5’8 I am looking at buying evil insurgent lb.. I am in two minds weather to get a M or L frame... The geo on the large looks like it will fit me pretty well... what size do you ride?
Well I think you can go either way depending on the feel you are looking for. The L will be longer so a little more stable at speed but a touch less agile than a M. Both are obviously very close though and either size will ride awesome. Do consider the seatube length though and what length dropper you want to use. We do sell Evil's and are very familiar with them so don't hesitate to get in touch :)
Review on Polygon bikes? (Collosus N9 XX1, SquareOne, Siskiu)
Please review a Rocky Mountain slayer
Well if i cannot get stock in the canyon strive 29 in XL until November i will go to a Mondraker Foxy R 29 i just needed to know if the Mondraker frame supports a 36T Oval or 38T Chainring
I have a brand new in the box (that has never been opened) Mondraker Foxy Carbon XR (27.5), which comes with a superior rear coil over shock that I'm trying to sell. Too bad I can't list it in here.
Do Pole Machine next or after next
I’m 5’9 that is fit right in the middle between Medium and Large and I riding Large Santa Cruz Nomad V3 that fit good. Do you think Large Foxy RR will fit me?
Rocky mountain altitude powerplay!!!!!!!!
Make a review of the new weapon of santa cruz. The Megatower..
What length stem do you run on such a crazy long bike?
Great looking bike love the look but i think it would look better in a matte black and orange paint im not a big fan of yellow.
It gives me butterflies in my stomach...😂
Love from Nepal. 🇳🇵💕
Nope, don’t like riding 29’er. But i have to take a look at What they have in 27.5 😜
Ian Holmquist First Of All, i own both sizes, and both are with moderne Geo, IE Long, Low and slack. The 27,5 is more nimble and playfull, easyer to corner with, at least for me. And the playfullnes and quicker handling are What i want most from my Bike, i simply dont Care that the 29’er rolls easy over stuff. I dont ride my Bike for it to be easy, but fun 😉
Project farm made a you tube video about an amazing friction reducer called motor kote that you add into oil. I think it would be great for a sus fork but I was wonder if you could try it because you have so many forks from sponsors and I only have one. I truly believe that if would make forks feel so much smoother but I don’t know if it will have any side affect like ruin the seals or anything else. Please watch project farms video then try experimenting.
I am also always buying lots of stuff from your online store.
About the topic of sizing.... you're saying size doesn't matter?
Uumm no. I think it is very important but it just needs to be looked at through a different lens dependent on personal preference rather than solely the height of your body. A long time ago I made a video explaining this a lot check it out - czcams.com/video/E3Qb97HHj1Q/video.html
if i ride xl on polygon, what size i use in mondraker foxy
