Oh the bitter winds are coming in
And I'm already missing the summer
Stockholm's cold but I've been told
I was born to endure this kind of weather
When it's you I find like a ghost in my mind
I am defeated and I gladly wear the crown
I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June
If you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too
No, I'm not asking much of you
Just sing little darling, sing with me
Now so much I know that things just don't grow
If you don't bless them with your patience
And I've been there before, I held up the door
For every stranger with a promise
But I'm holding back, that's the strength that I lack
Every morning keeps returning at my window
And it brings me to you and I won't just pass through
But I'm not asking for a storm
I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June
If you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too
No, I'm not asking much of you
Just sing little darling, sing with me
And yes I might have lied to you
You wouldn't benefit from knowing of the truth
I was frightened but I held fast
I need you now at long last
I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June
If you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too
No, I'm not asking much of you
Just sing little darling, sing with me
I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June
If you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too

I just discovered these girls thanks to the CZcams algorithm, and for once, I'd like to thank CZcams for that. These girls are half my age. One of them, in fact, was born the same year as my daughter (1993). But their talent!! It's way more than their beautiful, otherworldly vocals. Their song crafting and lyricism puts them in the once-in-a-generation category, with the likes of Simon and Garfunkel, Lennon and McCartney, and so on. Like them, their song lyrics live on their own, away from the music. I don't describe myself as a fan because "fan" is the root word for fanatic, and fanatics are rarely sane. But I'm definitely an admirer of their rare talent and look forward to more of their musical output.

What a great tribute, to Emmylou and her love for Gram. So nice to see the younger generation, influenced by the true greatness...that all four of those icons are. Emmylou, June, Gram, and Johnny. Gram and Emmylou were a match made in heaven. When they sang together it was not of this world. But, the devil interfered. It was as if she lost half of herself. Yet the other half was still the greatest female vocalist of all time. I hope that I live a long life and when I die I will go to heaven and find Gram and Emmylou singing together there.
