Now this is how the video is done. Slow pace, to the point and covers everything.
Thanks and thanks for watching
sir my dishwasher same company. Every time 2 hours 30 minutes setting time. I want only 30 minutes settings for dishwasher. please sir one video for time setting. thanks
@@TomLeeman I like the summary at the start then the breakdown
This video JUST SAVED ME tonight! Thank you thank you thank you for making this! I did everything step by step, even ordered the replacement drain motor from Amazon. Took out the drain motor, and on the paper towel, I found a shard of glass. The glass was jamming the drain motor and creating a clicking sound. This video was FANTASTIC! I should have a draining dishwasher now thanks to you!
Good job way to go thanks for watching
I love how excited you are at the end!! When you fix your own stuff, it’s always so rewarding. VICTORY!!
Do it yourself save money thanks for watching
Thanks for not burying the lede or rambling for five minutes at the beginning. Excellent in-depth follow on. I wish every repair video followed your example!
Thanks I appreciate the kind words I try to get to the point thanks for watching
I have the same dishwasher and just ordered a drain pump. I was able to diagnose and fix my dryer also watching these type of videos. Thank you for a really informative video!
You’re welcome and thanks for watching
Followed your instructions as I had the same situation. Changed out the drain pump and today I have a working dishwasher. Thanks for the video, saved me a probable expensive house call.
Yeah, I think they want like 300 bucks just to come out and then charge you big money for the part when you can buy it on Amazon cheap
Tom: thanks for your video. My 4 year-old Kenmore stopped draining. Watched your video and had Sears come out, Sears guy looks at it (does not do anything) and tells me I need at new Pump $388 installed. How about the Drain line? Need a new Pump. Said good/bye to Sears. Called out SET Appliance Service and this guy Listened to me (You) and found the Drain Line completely Blocked. Cleaned that out, Good as New!! Thanks to you Tom & "SET".
You are welcome glad you got your dishwasher working and thank you for watching the video
This video was helpful to help me diagnose my slightly different problem. My kids do the dishes and my soon dumped a giant pan of leftover rice into the sink and did NOT run the garbage disposal. So the rice was sitting in the garbage disposal and blocking the intake from the dishwasher. I changed the dishwasher filter and pulled the connecting hose from under the sink. I noticed a tiny bit of water drain out. It was suspicious that it was draining out so slow and long. It made me check and sure enough, filled with rice. All I had to do was reconnect the hose, run the garbage disposal blades for a second and then hit the drain button on the washer .. problem solved.
Glad to hear that you got her fixed and got that rice out of there. Thanks for watching.
Dude I just wanna give credit where credit is due. Your video just helped me solve a clog due to a piece of broken glass that broke a while ago. We must’ve missed a small piece and it was blocking the impeller from spinning. I heard it drop out after turning the motor counter clockwise to get it off. So without your video I wouldn’t have known how to get it off. Thank you sir. Much appreciated
You are welcome glad that you got your dishwasher working and you saved money by doing it yourself. Thanks for watching.
Great video. Clear and easy to understand. Replaced the pump in less than 10 minutes and ol' washy is draining like a champ. 🙏
Great to hear! Always better if you can do it yourself and most stuff pretty easy if you know how to do it saves like 300 bucks from a service call
Great teacher. Step by step and very clear! Thank you Tom!
You’re welcome it’s not too hard and you can do it yourself save some money thanks for watching
Thanks man, it is almost impossible to track anything down these days that we all once took so for granted. Your video was very helpful, gravely appreciated, keep up the VIDEOS
Glad I could help good luck on your install and thanks for watching
Best video I have found to replace the pump without having to pull the dishwasher out. Super easy. Thank you!
Glad to hear it it took me a while to figure out how this thing came off and I knew if I was having a hard time everybody else was going to be having a hard time good to hear you got it fixed thanks for watching
Hello again Sir, just came back here to say that because of your video, I was able to fix my dishwasher. Thank you so very much. Blessings to you and family!!!!
Glad to hear you had a successful fix on your washer and thanks for watching
I hope you are/were in a teaching industry since your instructions are very clear and you undoubtedly have a talent! Thank you very much!!! You saved me tons of time and money!!!!
Wow, thank you!
This video is great. I had our pump replaced in less then a day. Actual work of replacing it was a few minutes after picking up a new one at a local parts
store. Thanks much!!!
Nice work! Do it yourself and save money thank you for watching
I followed your demonstration which is spot on. What I found was a piece of broken glass in the pump fins.
Yep, that’s what usually is some type of broken glass gets caught in there
Thank you thank you! I thought my pump was out. I cleaned filter and no luck, but someone had put an extension unnecessarily on the DW drain hose years ago and it was completely clogged. I didn't need it anyway so now I'm hooked up directly and it works fine. You saved me hundreds of dollars!!
Glad I could help do it yourself save money
Dude!!!!! You are awesome!!!. I took the motor out and found something stuck in the fins. The fins are kind of chewed up, but i put it back in and it works. Its such an easy repair that im just going to wait for it to fail instead of replacing it. Thank you!!
You are welcome do it yourself save money
Tom, thank you for the excellent video. Pump on my dishwasher yesterday stopped draining water and it was not even attempting to pump, I could not hear any sound when it was supposed to engage. When I tried to remove power connector on the pump I realized that it was lose - not plugged in. Once I securely plugged connector in and reconnected power, dishwasher was able to drain water!
Great to hear! Glad you got everything working. Do it yourself save money thanks for watching.
Hey Tom I just wanted to say thanks. Your video was the right one for my amana dishwasher. I cleaned out food from the filter then I detached the hose from the dishwasher leading to the garbage disposal and stuck a metal hanger in it and that loosed the food and then I ran hot water down the pipe until it was clear. Connected everything back and ran the dishwasher without any problems thanks so much. No puddle at the bottom of the inside of washer. Nor on the ground afterwards. Cyas.
Excellent job do it yourself save money
I just wanted to say thank you so much. My Mom's dishwasher had this exact problem. I ordered the part and changed it out with no problem at all. Thank you again.
Excellent glad to hear it I know your mom’s appreciate you fixing that for and thanks for watching
This video helped me out on this Christmas Day 2022
I found that by cleaning out the hose and getting all the crap out of there It fixed the problem I didn't have to buy a new drain pump the old one worked just fine. Once I cleaned the hose out I put hot water in the bottom of the filter area and turned on the machine and let it drain out into a pot. I think you failed to follow through on the step to check out the pump motor before you replaced it if you did you probably have saved money. But never the less it was a great video and saved me time and money ..Thank you so much for showing us how to repair stuff
Glad you enjoyed it and fix your machine
Thank you, just sent to my husband. I hate my kenmore 🤦🏼♀️ I miss the old dishwashers I didn’t have to clean. 😩 Never had so many problems with a dishwasher in my life.
Good luck on Fixing your dishwasher thanks for watching
Thank you so much for your video. The tube connecting the disposal to the dishwasher was totally clogged. I just cleaned it out and the dishwasher was up and running in under 30 minutes. Thanks!
Excellent job do it yourself and save money thanks for watching
Yes it worked !!! I pulled the impeller to pop in a new one and out fell a piece of glass ! I had the new impeller now ($60) and with a 10 year old washer figured it might as well put the new impeller in - THAnK YOU !!!
I know it’s not too hard once you see how to do it and you just saved yourself probably 500 bucks or some people might’ve bought a brand new dishwasher cost more and then you get install it Congratulations and thanks for watching
I rarely use the dishwasher. A few months ago, my Garbage Disposal stopped working, so I bought a new one and replaced it. No problem. Two days ago, we used our dishwasher and found the water was not drained at the end. Tried a couple of times, same results. Then I found this video instruction. As demonstrated, step by step, I took out the filter and cleaned it. Then took out the tube connecting to the disposal, with no obvious debris plugging the tube. I remember that in the video, Tom inserts the screwdriver into the dispenser from the connecting side, and you can see it from the top of the sink. I tried to stick my finger to the connecting side and was blocked. Well, I thought it was a special design of this new disposal that prevents backflow to the dishwasher, so I took the disposal out, set the connecting tube side upward, filled it with water, and found no flow!!! Then I drill it through that plastic part that blocked the flow from the dishwasher to the garbage disposal. After putting everything back, my dishwasher works again! Thanks Tom. The one disposal I bought is Badger 500-3 Standard Series.
Excellent glad to hear you had a good install. All garbage disposals have that outflow blocked. It comes from the dishwasher just in case you don’t have a dishwasher so you have to remove that so that the water will flow through. Sounds like you got everything working good thanks for watching.
Ooohh thanks , now to fix my own dishwasher. Fingers crossed
Good luck on your install. Thank you for watching.
Thank you SO very much for this easy to follow video!! This just saved us from having to buy a new dishwasher.
You're welcome! Yep do it yourself and save money. Thanks for watching.
Great video on troubleshooting! Ran into this same exact issue but I would add one more step to check to ensure the pump is the issue: After removing the pump, go ahead and plug the power cable back in and press the Cancel/Drain button on the dishwasher. It so happened that the pump was indeed running fine, I just had a frozen water line as it ran against an exterior wall in my house and it can get quite cold behind your casework.
I saw that you guys were getting a polar vortex up there I think in Chicago it was a -10°. Stay warm. Glad to hear that you got your machine working and thanks for watching.
This video was so informative and helpful as my dishwasher was not draining. Thank you.
I’m glad I could help now you could have clean dishes. Thanks for watching.
Thanks, exactly what I needed! Took my motor off and found a huge piece of glass in there. Cleaned it up, worked like a charm. Really appreciate it.
Glad to hear it thanks for watching
Thanks for making this video. My kenmore elite would stop halfway through the cycle with the oversudsing alert. I hadn't put any extra detergent or the wrong detergent in. Then after the suds dissipated, there was a few inches of water remaining. So I followed your instructions. My filter wasn't clogged, the outflow wasn't blocked. So therefore I'm hoping it's number 3: replacement of the pump motor. Just ordered a new pump motor. Keeping fingers crossed. Thanks, because you've put me the closest to actually solving this issue :)
Good luck and thanks for watching
Thanks.!!!!!!!!!!.. (removed motor) and got it fixed. now drains and no more front leaks. (overfill).👍👍👍👍
Excellent do it yourself save your money and fix it the right way enjoy your new fixed dishwasher thanks for watching
Great video found a piece of glass.Never would have so simply removed the pump motor. Thanks for keeping it simple
I try to keep it as simple as possible thank you for the comments and thanks for watching
This by far the best video to help me trouble shoot the drain pump! It is dirty job, still need to figure out the leak in the front door.
Thanks and thanks for watching glad it helped
Your video is AMAZING and helped us fix our dishwasher without making a service call. Well done and easy instructions to follow. We found a small piece of plastic was stuck in the area where the drain is for the motor. Thank you!
Glad that I could help now you can have clean dishes
Saved me hundreds of dollars!!!! I changed the drain pump without issue . Thanks so much
U R welcome and thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for this video! I was able to fix our dishwasher by installing a new pump as you instructed, and it is working great now!
Excellent! Do it yourself save money and make sure it’s done right thank you for watching. Happy Holiday.
I am not even gonna wait to see if my problem is resolved. Your instructions for trouble shooting and pump installation were awesome! Thanks so muck for making and posting this video!
Thanks appreciate the kind words and thanks for watching
I agree with the poster, however there is another means of fixing. If you go to "cancel drain" and all you hear is a very short run of the motor. The fix is easy and could save you a lot of money.
First remove the lower covers of the unit in order to access the working parts
Next, unplug the unit from power.
Next, look at the underneath side of the enclosure where you will find a small (2" diameter) sensor with two push-on leads and a rubber tube that delivers pressure. This unit is attached to the underside of the cleaning enclosure by a square-block receiver.
Remove by rotating it approx 90 degrees.
Next, rotate the sensor to where it is released from the square receiver hole in which it was installed. Remove rubber tube and the two electrical connectors. Take the small unit in hand and proceed to the next step.
Next, get out your volt/ohmmeter and attach to the two terminals. It should read zero
Next, BLOW on the extruding tube that was attached to the rubber tube that was connected to the pump area. It should read below 10 ohms. It will probably read 70-250 ohms as it is worn out and the microswitch inside has crystalized or arced. No worries...proceed to the next step
Next, Clear out the red sealing glue from the LOWER hole and using a small screwdriver, adjust to where you have minimum ohms resistance. No more than a 1/2 turn in most cases.
Next, reinstall and hopefully enjoy the unit working properly.
I think you must be an engineer because that was a lot of information. Thanks for all the good tips and thanks for watching.
Took the water pump off as you instructed and found a piece of rubber. Thank you for great video!
Glad it helped! thanks for watching!
Great video with instructions, clarity, and excellent visuals and close ups. Thank you for the time in putting this together.

You are the man, thank you so much. I wish you lived in Bismarck ND

Thanks for the awesome video you really explained yourself really well about taking the pump off I found a piece of glass in the pump I hope that will be the problem. Thanks again....
You're welcome!
Very thorough explanations! Thank you.
Glad it was helpful! Good luck on your install and fixing your dishwasher and thanks for watching
You saved me 1200 bucks w this video. Thanks!
Glad I could help! DIY
Thanks so much for showing the tab on the motor and how it worked. I could not figure out how to remove it! (I had a broken blade and a piece of glass in mine.)
Yeah it’s tough because you can’t really see what you’re doing underneath the dishwasher and there’s that little tab that you’ve got to push but once you see it you got it all right thank you for watching
Tom you are a money saver! Excellent video! I thought I was going to need to change drain pump motor only to find a metal decal that fell off a cutting board jammed between motor and drain line. Inspected motor and looked in great condition, put it back on and bingo it worked like a champ again! You are the BEST!
Thank you for the kind words I appreciate it I’m glad I could help when I check on the price to have it fixed it was hundreds of dollars so I figured hey let’s just do it ourselves and see if we can figure it out and Bam done thanks for watching
Thank you very much. Saved me an unnecessary purchase of a new dishwasher
You are welcome! Do it yourself save money?
Thank you. We are in the middle of repairing our dishwasher. I’m hoping that cleaning by the pump will be enough but may need to replace.
Good luck! thanks for watching
Thanks for that. Plugged connection to drain! Sorted! Why didn't I check this out sooner!!! : )
Glad it could help. Glad you got your dishwasher working thanks for watching.
Thank you, you save me time and money. Thanks so much!
You are welcome! Do it yourself and save money thanks for watching
Just cleaned a couple hoses but only one was dirty but didn't look dirty enough to stop the drain. Reassembling. Hope it works. Our old pump looks ok like your new one looks. It seem ok. Hmmm. Praying it works.
good luck!
Thanks, I am sure the video was a pain to get. You did a good job! Also, I believe there is a thermal switch in the motor that trips that keeps water from draining if the motor gets too hot.
Thanks for the tips and thanks for watching
I very rarely leave comments, but came to say that this worked for me. Thank you so much for this video!
You're welcome!
Wonderful tutorial. This video really helped me out. Thank you for your step by step 'how to'.
Glad I could help do it yourself save money thanks for watching
Thank you so much for this video. You just saved me a ton of money. I followed your suggestions step by step and I was able to fix it 😅
Good job do it yourself and save money for sure if you have somebody come out they charge like 300 bucks
Thank you Tom! Nice video, this helped me tremendously. Ordered new pump on Amazon OEM as Kenmore/Sears doesn't make this pump anymore.
You're welcome!
Great video. Better man. You should have been a teacher. Impressive. Thank you.
Glad I could help. Enjoy your Kenmore dishwasher.
Great video. Easy to follow. But...one more thing to check before ordering a new pump. I found a chip of china keeping the impeller from spinning. Wished I'd look first because now I have to return a pump. Thanks for the clear video and instruction, though. Good job
Great tip!
Found the broken tip of a knife in mine. True American hero, thank you. Saved me some duckets
Thanks I always say do it yourself if you can and save money
Thank you for showing how to change the drain pump motor. Very helpful.
You are welcome good luck on your fix and thanks for watching
Nice video. Waiting on my new pump now. Thanks.
You can do it! Thanks for watching
Thank you helping me narrow it down...other videos were a dragged blah!
Thanks I appreciate it good luck and thanks for watching
great video, helped me a lot! really impressed you didn't move the diswasher. thanks a lot
Glad it helped!
Great advice. The model I have has a section where mold was causing the obstruction.
Glad to hear that you figured out that problem and thank you for watching
I also found a piece of glass in the pump out sump the hard way. Wasn't a piece of glass at all but a piece of Corell ware. Sharp as hell and multiple finger lacerations. Pump impeller vanes were ground down to noting.
Wow I guess that stuff can do damage good luck thanks for watching
Thank you! This was easy to follow. My propeller had a cup seal wrapped around it
All kinds of stuff can get caught in there ours had a chuck a glass thanks for watching
Good video, good lighting, clear visual instuctions thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful! good luck on your install on your dishwasher. Have a happy Christmas and merry new year. Thank you for watching.
l never think wash the filter ,was terrible 😞 but now l know what check for keep clean thanks so much for the information ☺️
You are so welcome
Tom, you and your wife is just like my wife and I. I have to promote my good projects. She gets concerned when I work on a project and sarcastically critiques when it fails. She does not know how many things that could go wrong and cost a lot of money to have someone else do it. But she loves you anyway. Your video is SPOT ON! great job with everything and great quality video. Keep up the great work
Thanks and thanks for watching
Great video. After reviewing my filter (different from yours) didn't appear to be clogged, I found the "Cancel" button also functions as a "Drain". I closed the door and pressed it. The remaining water was pumped out without issue so there aren't any clogs and the pump was fine. Just sure why it didn't drain as it usually does. Nonetheless, I think (and hope) I'm good for now.... Thank you.
Thanks for the info! Glad to hear you got it working and thank you for watching
Thanks! Can’t wait to try this. Already know the drain line isn’t plugged up.
Do it yourself and save money yay thanks for watching
@@TomLeeman So I just took the pump motor out (exact same as yours) and everything looks fine just like yours did. So I’m kind of encouraged that in spite of everything appearing to ok, the new pump solved the problem for you.
That’s how to do it. Awesome video. Thank you so very much. 🎉
You're welcome! Glad I could help. Enjoy your dishwasher.
Hey man. Well, my clog was in the hose from the dishwasher to the drain. I removed it, filled it with warm soapy water, shook it around. Then I had to use my fiberglass "fish rods" to push out a big blockage. Rinsed it out & I was up & running, no parts needed!
Great job you saved yourself a lot of money I always say try to do it yourself. Thank you for watching. And thanks for the tip.
Great video! Very easy to follow
Thank you and good luck on your install. Thank you for watching.
you saved me some serious money
Glad to hear it thanks for watching
Very informative and easy directions and with Video in a tight spot, awesome 👏 😎 Job..Thanks
Thanks I appreciate your comments and thank you for watching
That's a pretty wholesome dishwahser repair video sir, thanks for the help, it appears this is exactly what is wrong with my washer!
Glad to hear you fix your dishwasher and thanks for watching
Thanks good luck on your install
Great job!!! I am having the same problem. I think our pumps are exactly the same. Hope this fixes mine.
Fingers crossed!
@@TomLeeman well, it didn’t work. I gave it try but nope. Got new dishwasher yesterday. Finished hooking it up, running first test run now.
@@dougtennant5442 sorry to hear about that but good luck with the new dishwasher. Let us know how it works.
@@TomLeeman the new dishwasher is amazing. It has all the bells and whistles and is whisper quiet. The only bad thing about the new dishwasher is it takes forever to run a load of dishes. Like 2.5 hours to do them.
@@dougtennant5442 I know isn’t that crazy I think we have a whirlpool and it takes like three hours to wash the dishes but they’re supposed to save your water. I don’t know if that’s true or not.
Thank you Tom. I removed some hair wrapped around the impeller shaft but the motor still is not draining the dishwasher.
May have to get a new motor they’re not too expensive and you can buy them on Amazon good luck thanks for watching
Thank you! Saved us - hose was clogged!!
You're welcome!
Another dishwasher fixed with your help! Thanks so much!
You are so welcome!
Run 30% vinegar through several wash cycles. One cup in basin and another upright on bottom tray.
Great tip!
Awesome video, I'm getting into fixing my whirlpool, hopefully it's just a clog
You can do it!
Great job with the camera!
Thanks it was hard getting under there
Blockage of mine was in both the hose attachment at the disposal and in the vacuum breaker.
Thanks very detail and good video really help me to troubleshoot.
