Kyle: Platt is a Calvinist. He is 18 on the list of influential Calvinists in the SBC. The church he was hand-picked by his predecessor to lead was *not* Calvinist, although it is obvious that his predecessor is a secret Calvinist and orchestrated the appointment in a multi-year process that included this church joining the SBC without much explanation. So, his predecessor was apparently a secret Calvinist and Platt was appointed with no reference to the Calvinist issue. The SBC is now in a quite Christianese "nicey-nice" knife fight about the direction of the group. I'm opposed to Calvinism and I oppose Platt's accession to that pulpit and I oppose J D Greear as the new SBC president for the same reason. I hope it leads to a split -- Calvinists and anti-Calvinists don't belong in the same denomination.
Up: I'm delighted you asked. Because *if* Calvinism is true, God is incomprehensibly unjust, unloving, unforgiving and cruel (and Jesus is also a Hypocrite besides.)

I love David! He was the first pastor to really speak some hard truths in my life and light a fire in me... through the leading of the holy spirit.
