Murmur and Reckoning are a great pair of albums. Jangly guitars and great harmonies. Chronic Town that came out in 82 is excellent also. Just 5 tunes but all would slot well on either of the first tow LP's.

Not bad. A lot of variety. Similar to today except "Pop music" isn't really a thing anymore. You can't just turn on a radio and hear good music typically (unless you live in Seattle and can tune into KEXP 😅) You've gotta really do some leg work to find the good stuff typically. Although, I will say you probably wouldn't have heard of REM I'm 1984 unless you went to college at the time or knew someone who did.
The Smiths were stealing their style...but i rather hear the real original REM! THEY WERE GREAT! Michael Stipe was writing very cool songs/lyrics? My first album was a double album called AUTOPILOT! Already addicted...til the end of their career. Well. Who can dislike these Byrds like guitars? 😂😊🎉❤

The 5 IRS albums belong in any decent record collection. What a rich vein of form. Made me a lifelong fan.

A great second album for ANY band…
Such a greatly underappreciated band. Great album...
They were the biggest band in the word at their height 🤷♂️
In the 90's, they were massively popular.
REM and U2 were THE bands during my college years...
For a good laugh, follow the transcripts.
Cool
