Like a Prayer 80’s, Ray of Light 90’s and Confessions 00’s. The holy trinity of pop or as some critics has said (with COADF) the bible of pop! They dont call that for nothing…
@@francescodoria6060 I agree if you listen to the Erotica album after all the deststracion s it is a really strong album great music and lyrics. It was the first album where she hadn't worked with Stephen Bray and/or Patrick Leonard so it was less pop music and more club music. It's a shame that because of the sexual content to lot of the tracks MTV and radio largely ignored. If you go back and listen to it, it really holds up as a great album. ❤️❤️🌈🌈🎹🎹🎶🎶🤘🤘🙌📏🏳️🌈🏳️🌈❤️❤️
This album by Madonna (and I havent' liked any of hers before or since)....Is Beatles level. Incredible sounds an meshing of genres to bring something new to pop. The production is out of this world. William Orbit was her George Martin for this one...
One of my fave ever dance tracks, also Madonna tracks. I think you put your finger on the image thematic … something like… life goes by too fast. Stop and be. Go outside. Feel the sunlight in your skin. Feel how you are a microcosm of the universe, how you are home. Let yourself fly. Stuff like that.
This is one of her most well achieved videos from the album, including the remixes versions. Now, the song was so well developed and release. In fact ,Will Orbit did a great job as a producer. Plus, using parts of the lyrics of Curtiss Maldoon, modifying them and adapted them to a whole new sound , makes this song something more than a reversion, it makes a really amazing composition not only on the sound from the song itself, but also on the image created by Jonas Akerlund for the video. There always will be a before and after "Ray of Light" on Madonna's music career. It's been an incredible journey even till this day. You made a great video, thanks for sharing it.
i was in an hmv store back in 98 and this amazing record came on - i asked the staff who it was and could not believe it was madonna- up to that point she had recorded pretty traditional pop records but did not expect a techno classic like this
I just said to my husband, after I STOPPED what I was doing to go tell him, "do you realize next year we'll celebrate TEN YEARS since we met?!?!" It seems like just a few scant years went by.
Great reaction! This was the track that made me a Madonna fan. Didn't much care for her music before this album. This album came out when I was in my early 20s and living my best life overseas at my first f/t job. I remember thinking at the time that the experience would one day be a memory, so I should try to be in the present and enjoy every moment as it's happening. Watching this video now reminds me to listen to my 20-something wisdom and keep trying to experience my life like I did at that time. Cuz now I'm in my late 40s and the past 25 years went by way too fast... Quicker than a ray of light...
It is. Her vocals on the "Ray of Light" album are some of the best of her career due to the fact that she was just coming off "Evita," for which she'd worked intensely with a vocal trainer. I can't say she maintained that level of vocal prowess, but "Ray of Light" was the perfect vehicle for it.
"Ray of Light" will forever be my favourite Madonna song and video. It is virtually impossible to sit still when hearing and/or watching it. I recommend actually sitting down and studying the unbelievable number of layers and elements William Orbit wove into the instrumentation. Though the lyrics were taken from a much older song, it is one of Madonna's true masterpieces.
I loved your reaction man. I think I'm about 20 years older than you, and had the same reaction when it first came out in -98. I be like "WTF am I a Madonna fan now??" And all the sound textures and rhythms AND the lyrics kinda create an overload of information and you have two choices, either turn it off or just go with the flow. I've listened to probably hundreds of times and still find new little nuances. Hat off to Madonna AND ... Willian Orbit.
The album that started Madonna’s downfall of her mental health…. This album was LEGENDARY IMO ALMOST A PERFECT POP ALBUM…. But she went crazy making this album… if you don’t believe me… go chk out her Instagram…. She ain’t been right in the head for some time now … imo I thought it started around the making of this album in 1997
20 years into an already stellar career, Madonna records her best song. Maybe best album.
Agree 100%
Def her best album. Like a Prayer is a very close second. And Confessions pretty much rounds out Madonna when she's in her best.
Like a Prayer 80’s, Ray of Light 90’s and Confessions 00’s. The holy trinity of pop or as some critics has said (with COADF) the bible of pop! They dont call that for nothing…
And Erotica too. That album is so underrated.

She calls this music " drug music without drugs". The beats, electro sounds, and drums are AMAZING. OVAH.
My favorite song of all time!!!!!! An absolute batshit insane kick to the nuts in the best way possible.
Mine too ❤⚡️
It’s the only song that motivates me to go to work on Monday morning
Always makes me wanna dance, or even workout, which is not a bad thing.
Ray of Light is about finding your home place of peace
I also understand it that way, which is why I always listen to it when I think everything is lost.
This song turns better any bad day!!
LOL! "Cold, naked, and afraid!" This album is a masterpiece.
This is my favorite Madonna song.
Madonna is the GOAT. Queen of Pop for a reason. React to Like A Virgin from Blond Ambition!
Madonna iconic queen
Madonna is 100% The Queen of music. I LOOOOOOOOVE her.
By the way, life really did move that fast in the 90's
This album by Madonna (and I havent' liked any of hers before or since)....Is Beatles level. Incredible sounds an meshing of genres to bring something new to pop. The production is out of this world. William Orbit was her George Martin for this one...
….and he proved his genius not only on the strange cargo series, but when he did the Katie Melua album
That’s it man . She’s gat you. After I watch that video back then I become a huge Madonna fan🔥🔥🔥
Right on bro....you been madonnatized!!! glad you see the magic of M

This song is awesome 👍🏻
Madonna too 😍❤️🌹✌🏻
She just kicked ass LIVE INTO OPRAH SHOW singing this one...💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
ABSOLUTELY you're more than correct!
Not sure if you've reacted to it, but "Beautiful Stranger" is another awesome song from the Austin Powers soundtrack.
The Ray of Light album had critics finally accept that Madonna was here to stay. In retrospect it should’ve won album of the year at the Grammys.
However, it did win Best Pop Album of the Year at the Grammys. The album lost to Lauren Hill's for Album of the Year.
That album was considered one of the 100 best ones of all times of the music history by the Rolling stone magazine.
William Orbit is the reason this song exists like this.
This song is so fresh as if it had been released yesterday...
Lol love it. These song construtions is just ABSURD. Grammy Awards my dear
Welcome back to M....your fun was so there. Expect the unexpected.
23YRS AGO...STILL ROCKING...:)
Such a pleasure to see your appreciation for Madonna’s extraordinary discography! I was totally vibing with you!
Orbit and Madonna are out of this Earth

She is a star 🌹

Brilliantly stated.
Ray of Light is ART ⚡️

I think this was when she had her baby? It makes sense in that context.
Two years after......
I just said to my husband, after I STOPPED what I was doing to go tell him, "do you realize next year we'll celebrate TEN YEARS since we met?!?!" It seems like just a few scant years went by.
Even if this was released today it wouldn’t be out of date!

Madonna ia the greatest for a reason. Nobody does it like her.
Please react to Ray of Light's live performance on OPRAH! It's her best live vocal ever!!!
It is. Her vocals on the "Ray of Light" album are some of the best of her career due to the fact that she was just coming off "Evita," for which she'd worked intensely with a vocal trainer. I can't say she maintained that level of vocal prowess, but "Ray of Light" was the perfect vehicle for it.
I loved this reaction! Thank you so much!
Glad you enjoyed!
