❗️💰 How to Destroy PKO Tournaments ➡️ galfond.link/KO-Everyone
In today’s duo high stakes poker highlight analyzed by Phil Galfond we have two huge all-in pots featuring some legendary high stakes poker players.
In crazy high stakes poker hand #1 we have: Tom Dwan with Aces vs Antonio Esfandiari’s Kings and Daniel Negreanu’s Queens during the Poker After Dark $100k Cash Game.
Also seated at the table were Jean-Robert Bellande, Lauren Roberts, Bill Klein, Doyle Brunson, Andrew Robl, and Matt Kirk!
In huge high stakes poker hand #2 we have Tom Dwan with Queens trapping Jean-Robert Bellande’s (JRB) Ace King and a surprise Lynne-Ji with Queen Ten suited on High Stakes Poker Season 8.
They were joined by Rick Solomon, Brynn Kenney, Brandon Steven, and Nick Petrangelo.
Phil Galfond dives into these very entertaining high stakes hands to answer an important question - should Tom Dwan’s opponents find the fold vs his wild image in these huge preflop poker pots or did his wild image enable the best moments he could hope for?

Huge fan of poker.. If it has been televised or streamed, I've seen it.. I'm 44 year old man!.. I had to go from watching stuff like WSOP & "High stakes" to the likes of Loose cannon & Shark Tank.. Not a bad shows if you want to laugh.. But too sudo-reality tv for me.. Vlogs and livestreams have changed the whole landscape.. I pay attention to very few. Literally The HCL, The Lodge live, and Brad's vlogs.. Because if you don't love that guy, you need serious help! 😅... Point being!.. I'm an asshole, and very particular/snobish about watching content. And also a a huge fan of your playing, content etc!.. Except that one/first time on High Stakes! ;P .. And love how you put you vids together.. Thanks man!👍✌
Hi.
Could you do a review of his 2 million dollar hand vs Wesley on HCL?
Galfond you are an absolute blessing to the community and humanity.

Thank you @Phil Galfond for this magnificent video. Not only the content is great but the video work it self is really nice 👌
Tom Dwan has the face of a guy saying to you "I can be very nice with you but don't bullshit me".
Tom Dwan has the face of a guy who still gets carded at the bar despite being due for his colonoscopy
That’s not nice and not very funny.
Tom Dwan has the face of the guy saying “I don’t pay off my debts”
He is actually a very nice person.
@@Rendolfo1 if he’s such a nice guy why doesn’t he pay people back the money.
That was super fun to watch. Great breakdown Phil
I like the all in makes it look like it could be AK.
lol okay if you say so bud
That's what Daniel thought when he folded lol "You guys both have AK?"
Tremendous content as always! Thanks Phil.
Hey Phil.What a great content man.I really enjoyed 🚀
I'm very happy about the scoop on 3 boards, if I knew I was running it 3 times it makes queens a much easier call because you know you are most likely flipping an
against opponents range which so much AK that also blocks the hands you are dead against (and likely to win one flip)
Great video as always, thanks Phil!
This is my 2nd Phil Galfond video. Just subscribed to his channel. He is really smart and so humble. I always liked his game but I'm all in on this guy now.
Great video as always
Thanks a ton for watching, glad you enjoyed it!
It’s Kings versus Queens versus aces. Even at the top level of play, this is always going to be a cooler.
Ye that argument is like hes getting paid off easier ,but KK vs AA is always gonna be relatively easy pay off unless ur exreme nit and there are not that many being brought to those games anyway.
QQ can definitely get away when they are 600+ bbs deep and the stacks go in pre. KK vs Dwan is tough but best case scenario Tom has AKs, almost certainly not JJ or QQ. Most likely Tom has KK or AA if he is jamming 600bbs in pre. hes crazy, but hes also smart and if he gets out of line its usually because hes sniffed something out. But yea its the classic cooler AA vs KK, sometimes the moneys just gotta get in.
@@smackinmatt I think he should have folded the queens originally like Phil said. I don't think his implied odds were good enough to set mine there, but it was close. KK was tough, but I really think that could have been folded, although I'm not going to fault him for the call. I folded KK once in my life playing no limit holdem, and I happened to be right. The guy showed me the AA. It was pretty similar to this situation from what I can remember.
What’s the avg 6-bet range ? AA just with different colors
Hey Phil
Hi!
So cute
Loved it, thank you.
We need a part 2 with huge value bets from Tom!
I know that QQ probably can go either way here, where it calls a little more often as we saw with Dwan. What would Dwan do if instead of QQ, he has Suited AK ? Would that also mix up calling and folding, where more often its a fold and a call only sometimes ? (The other way round to QQ), since QQ can be ahead of JJ and has more equity vs AK, whereas Suited AK is behind every hand statiscally that JRB shoves barring AK itself
3 things of importance here:
Bryn Kenny casually scrolling on his phone giving no interest whatsoever in the hand
Petrangelo confirming he's, in fact, not a scientist
And Lyne looking fine
How do you manage to scoop with QQ running it 3 times . That’s some nice variance !
9:52 Hi Phil. I think that the 3bet by JRB was small and I don't think he 3bets that small OOP with aces. Your thoughts? Does JRB raise small and make the comment that he makes "let's sweeten the pot a little bit." with aces? Or kings even? No I don't think so. I think his raise preflop is a give away to Tom that QQ is the best hand preflop like almost always.
I remember watching this hand when the HSP episode came out. JRB's sizing was too small, I don't really understand what he was trying to accomplish (unless he anticipated another player to spaz jam as Lynne did). Obviously, the more standard play here is to squeeze with a much larger sizing so you don't have to play AKcc OOP against several opponents (a couple of whom have less defined ranges than the average player = less visibility on what a "safe board" would be). Phil, would love to hear your opinion on this as well as JRB's "squeeze" is the most interesting part of that hand.
💯
Hi, Phil, do you think there's any value to JRB calling Ji's raise, rather then overshoving? or do you think it leaves him to open to moves by Tom?
I like his shove, but I don't think a call would be crazy.
I think a shove is fine here too, but the speed at which he did it I suspect is why Dwan may have made the call. 90%+ of players are gonna at least briefly tank with AA or KK.
Another awesome video, Phil. Your delivery is so stellar.
Phili your one of the best at what you do and thank you for your help !
*you're
Phil love your videos brother ❤
That was interesting to see how Dwan maximizes his hands!
interesting timing on this vid. thoughts on dwan owing bunch of people money?
In Daniel's spot can you ever flat with aces to balance your calls?
Hey guys this is Phil Galfond for bluefire poker ;)
Mr Nick Patrengelo trying to be hillarious to be invited again playing w the fish :))
All the tournament pros are so nerdy and cringe 😂
I wish I could relive the release of High Stakes Poker season 5
I wondered what the heck you were gonna say about Tom's original flat pre. When you said you're not sure I was like "ok.... ok I'm not as dumb as I feel anymore" haha
I made a 600 BB call with pocket Queens a couple days ago and they guy had JJ. Situation was a little different though. There was a 10$ straddle and Villain A, an action player, Opened to $50, he was 2k effective, and I just flat called so I guess the strength of my hand was disguised. Villain B goes all in for around $380. It gets back to Villain A and he seems to think about just calling (what I wanted) and then decided to shove for $2000. I didn't like this but felt like it could have been a squeeze play to isolate. I was still obviously very concerned he may have AA or KK. so I begrudgingly made the call after a little deliberation. Villain A shows JJ, Villain B shows KK, putting me a pretty good spot to lose $400 but win a $1600 side pot. I flopped three of a kind and rivered a boat.
Dwan looks like he could not be more bored during all that lol. Legend.
Great video dude.
Missed the straddle in hand 1 I believe? You mention we are 600bb deep but unless the graphic is wrong it says 800 to call for Daniel making 300k about 375bbs. Still quite deep and I don't think it changes the analysis much, that is probably still over the threshold where Dwan could jam KK for value.
those boards are crazy
You're a pleasure to watch my man
1:13 LOL @ AA vs KK vs KK.
Had a similar scenario like this occur for me in a tournament. I had the pocket queens. Had both the AA and KK covered. Made the call. Flop quads. A hit the turn, 9 on the River. Crazy hand.
Phil - do you miss playing 1/2 live poker?
Pretty sure that first hand had little to do with his "image", and a lot to do with AA vs KK vs QQ...
JRB shoved super fast. If he had a really strong hand like aces or kings he would have taken more time to try to bring Dwan in, and i think Dwan def noticed that.
Someone try to explain Lynne Ji's logic to shove Q10?
She assumes Tom has nothing and Bellande has 99?
Her logic is “I am a spazzy button clicker.” Good thing she is attractive
🍻 for durrrr Tom Dwan still doing his masterful work, after some didn’t think he would be after all these years!
Does anyone know what Tom says at 16:45? "I don't think I've ever [something] in my life..."
“lost a pot”
“Paid off debts”
Alternative Title: How Tom Dwan's WILD Play has him down 8 figures to the poker community
Tom is a real gentleman on the table and always he is very calm and nice and never angry or violent with other players and of course he is genius in poker in both side mentally and theory i really love Tom the great Tom Dwan
He owes a lot of money ..
@@ReallyDavid01 Still them cuck mafia theories? Grow up
Love your vids.. algorithm
All in with Q 10 suited = wtf ?
Scoops some big boy pots and still can't find the money to pay back his debts!
In the first hand it looked like Tom 3bet Daniel, not 4bet, despite what the graphics say
Did Antonio angle when he pump faked the call? 🤔
Always a pleasure for us fans when you analyze Tom "Durrrr" Dwan hands
Great.. 🎉
There's 4 players i enjoy watching because of their cool hand Luke attitude, Tom Dwan , Phil Ivey , Patrick Mahomes , and the late Doyle Brunson .
couple of things i don't think were mentioned :
1. on the first hand, it starts out with Negreanu '3-betting' to $3,500...did we miss who opened first ? if QQ wasn't the first raise, it makes a huge difference vs it being the first raise on the button, but regardless, it's something worth clarifying
2. on the second hand, after it goes raise to 4k and the rest call, JRB only squeezes to 11k...that's definitely 'non-standard' and simply acts as a 'pot sweetener' as he even said out loud when he did it...that's never getting anybody to fold and almost surely played into the dynamics of Lynne shoving with Q10 and possibly Tom calling JRB's allin as well...just an important detail that wasn't talked about that i think probably played a part in the decision making processes for this hand
Beer bottle opener for sure haha
Is this a cash game or tournament?
Cash game
I’m pretty sure he’s giving the girl with q10 suited WAYYYYY too much credit and trying to be nice with his analysis here lol
I thought it was a really bad play. I probably would have also folded QQ if I was Tom in the last hand.
Lynn plays well.. 😂
At least she’s cute!
I dont know the other players, but i would say queens is a fold for sure in the last hand.
So i started watching your videos i also watch a lot of crushlivepoker but the guy half the time I don't understand what he is talking about. He just doesnt make any sense to me, as if either im not understanding really deep technical poker talk or if he's just naturally hard to follow and comprehend. You are easier to understand and very clear to follow even though your analysis is just as deep.
I think you can discount at least some combos of AA from JRB due to the SNAP re-jam. Does he really turbo re-jam w AA? Idk, I’ve only played with him for like an hour in my entire life and it was years ago, so no real reads, but in general I think it’s fair to at least discount a couple combos. I believe that makes it a call especially with Tom’s image and how he played it, her overflat, etc. I think JRB has JJ+ AK+ minus a cpl AA combos, and I think she’s way more likely to have a hand like TT or JJ than better.
You can discount all combos of AA from JRB based on his sizing preflop of 11k after a 4k open and several callers. And his comment about "sweetening the pot". That's a comment made from a speculative hand.
@@richcheckmaker9789 His small 3-bet doesn't insinuate AK any more so than having AA or KK. 11k is ridiculously small regardless of his actual holding. The only logical explanation is that he was trying to induce a 4-bet bluff so that there was room to 5-bet shove with fold equity.
I think AA isn't on Bellande range given the way he called. No one calls with AA immediately with a player behind
That and his tiny sizing preflop.
forgot about nicky p's "i'm not a scientist but those 2 boards are pretty good for you" hehe.
this is the least annoying poker run down show on the tube, subscribes
Not saying it's intentional but Petrangelos needles is next level 😀
I really don't think tom plays as aggro as he use to
Agreed he’s also gotten a lot skater since then so tactics change
not at all. same with ivey. they have adjusted to the modern game, which is a lot more aggressive. they were innovators in the mid to late 2000s and so everyone started replicating their style.
@@leeumhopkinscouldn’t of said it better. Different eras
Is not about how the game changed. Just everyone they play against, especially amateurs are expecting them to play so aggressively that they're getting called very lightly. So the best way to play for them is? Play like fkn nits.
It's not nearly as effective as it was back in the beginning of the High Stakes Poker Show. People know his style now
Hey Phil, this is just a supporting/algo boosting comment really, but I also want to say, you and I are very similar in so many ways, I hope we get to meet one day, we're probably lost brothers from a previous life. Until then, I wish you all the best!
Thank you, Harald! Appreciate you!
Jenny Li made a bad move because Bellande is a tight player and usually often raise preflop in value
I enjoyed your insight into Tom's way of thinking, and I think you're right- he seems to have a brain that goes 3-4 levels further than other players at times and it's fascinating to watch.
so why does he owe millions of $ in debt. He is a losing player that doesnt pay up
If I had the AA I would've lost
The playing style and dinamics make me think that durrrr has a great chance of finishing the career in the way like Isildur1 did.
i used to think lynne was just going nuts here but I actually think it makes a ton of sense, not the best hand to do it with, but it's live poker, sometimes you gotta go with your read.
It’s def FPS but yeah I agree, probably less terrible than it looks at first blush (or cabernet, whatever she's drinking)
That's the only reason she did it. She had some kind of read. I don't like it in general though.
Bad time to mention tom phil
Raise to 54 not too big at all , need to narrow palyers down , less and nearly every one will call with an ok hand , woukd of liked him to go a bit more if anything
Second hand, durrrr got three of the best possible boards. Shows how much luck is involved.
The Peter Jetton dodge seems to win Tom about $226k.
Good God, Lynne is so cringe
Thanks for the vid. Personally really hate the music.
weird video, i was expecting more wilder calls/wilder hands especially with the title then that.
GALFOND 4 PREZ!
Durr is the exact same as isildur1 they we're both maniacs now both are the tightest Nits living of there past reputations
Phil you are too nice. Her play is not good
I don't like the shove. I really don't think it was a reasonable play for her, it just makes very little sense.
Can we agree that jrb's squeeze sizing is horrible in the 2nd hand?
lol, my age is hitting me every time I see a poker after dark or high stakes poker old vid. Classic bluffing greenstein and eastgate 😂. Durr was so nervous when he said “I had it” his voiced cracked hard lmfao.’ The others knew 💀.
I never liked greenstein, especially when he was in another hand versus durr and they went all in, greenstein didn’t want to run it twice but tried to ask to take some money back out of the pot.
Love ya Phil, but I think the videos run a bit long for the average viewer.
Gg buddy
You said: " he's( negreanu) kinda getting a right price to flop a set" but you and all of us know that you need x12 of the amount in your stack to profitably call to set mine. So, Daniel needs $41Kx12 or $492K in his stack to profitably call, given there's nobody behind him but we know there's Tom with Aces. So, after Esfandiari's 4-bet, it's an easy fold
If DNegs had AA in that spot he is 100% reraising jus like the rest of us would. How can you flat AA there and what hope they jus bluff off to you? And how does he suggest they both have AK there like really?
In that first hand When someone is 6bet ripping 500+ bb or whatever it is pre into multiple people you should definately be folding kings. Daniel doesn’t have to be capped here either he can flat his entire continuing range or atleast have some traps with aces so when tom shoves in this spot he’s just always gonna have the goods
i agree, the times you are wrong are so infrequent and it’s so many bb
Hey Phil, I know it makes for a good video & I think it is a well selected hand. However, I do think that Tom owing to Haralabos and Jetten isn’t highlighted enough compared to all the praise by content just like this & therefore risks to mislead new players. If not Doug or you will mention it to preserve the legendary status of Dwan, who will?
😮
Thanks Phil. Amazing hands. It normally takes me a month to loose $300K. They are amazing.
Hi Phil, do you think Tom not paying his debts works for his WILD image that Wins Him the MAX, or against it?
If only someone had jj
How do you manage to make such an interesting hand so boring? Also not mentioning how horrendous bellandes squeeze sizing was is a must mention
Is Lynne a overall winning player? Based on the clips shown on yt, she doesn't win much if at all
You wanna try playing that ripped off zynga poker even 4 of a kind not good enough 😮
