Great documentary! As a craft beer fan for many years, I loved seeing how it's evolving in Japan. I'll even be looking to get my hands on some Japanese craft beer now. Can't wait to try it.

Thanks for watching! In my experience, the Kiuchi brewery (see 5 minutes in the film) exports its craft beer outside of Japan. Other brands not so much. But this may have changed in the mean time. Kanpai!!

Excellent documentary. I wonder how things changed since this was filmed in 2016... I guess I'll have to do a craft beer tour in Japan. 😀

It's interesting that when it comes to beer, it's common that people want to make their own version of beer or of different styles of beer, and make it into a selling point. Fe "we want to make japanese beer" or even "japanese saison". While when it comes to food, the goal is normally to mimic the original, and if it doesn't mimic the original, that isn't something that is often marketed as something intended.

Great video. You just gotta improve the audio game. There's always too much noise and you can't really focus on what people are saying.

It’s a shame that Japan hasn’t yet seen fit to liberalize their homebrewing laws.

You must be referring to the interviews in bars and the like. Well, those are real bars, not studios. the soundscape in a busy bar where people are having a good time is challenging to say the least!
