I will be buying Elitech manifold gauge along with a set of vacuum pump, scale, leak detector, and micron gauge. Thank you for your video. Best wishes to you and your family ! Cheers from Houston, Texas! It’s been hot here that ain’t fun. Hope one day to tour your beautiful state and the iconic Big Apple ! Take care .

    I always say try to fix it first if it’s a fixable thing if it’s beyond fixable and it’s just going to feel completely then replace it but always give it the option to repair it first you also can get a customer in the future for being honest and let them know that when they had one little part that was broken they weren’t sold a new unit just because that makes it for a good customer in the future you might keep that in mind as well keep up the good work with the videos like what you’re doing.

    Hi Mikey, love your way way of explaining. Very entertaining and straight to the point. I am a homeowner, went to school for Computer Science and Engineering so I know some concepts and can understand things, but I am no HVAC guy or have the time to learn. I had a BOSCH 1.0 installed a few years back, and I am afraid it is overcharged. So I was thinking of buying some digital gauges and measure SH and SC to figure it out. Yes the previous HVAC guy will come out and try to diagnose but I don't trust he was doing a good job, his hoses and gauges weren't working and i do remember at the time that the SH and SC were not to what the manual was saying, but we did charge by way of weigh in, and accounted for line length. Calling the original guy probably won't cost me much, but a new guy will charge me over 1200 just to take a look at it ! because they say they have to diagnose everything, redo the charge and so on.. Anyway I am looking for some gauges that don't break the bank but are also good enough to give an accurate reading. Again I am not a pro, and I won't use the gauges maybe but a handful of times, so what would you recommend for someone in my case? so far I was looking at Elitech EMG-10 ($189) or the Testo 550i ($247) or Elitech PT-500&PT-800 ($145) Plus I will have to by some $80 hoses to make sure i get a tight seal.

      @SpaceCadet327 Před rokem

      If you didn’t spend any money yet then my advice would be don’t waste money on digital gauges. Spend $70 for an analog manifold. They come with hoses as well. There’s apps you can download where you type the high side and low side and it does the math. On the outside unit there should be a graph that tells you what the pressures should be for the temperature. Unless you plan on getting into the trade or have money to waste , do it as cheaply as possible. Legally speaking you also need a tank to collect the refrigerant you take out as well. If it’s only over charged you shouldn’t have to pay over $250 imo

    those square D "disconnects" are just that, a simple disconnect in a breaker style case, they are not a current limiting device. there's a tab to prevent a regular breaker being installed into them.
    those disconnect housings are not meant for a current limiting breaker, because the physical housing size is too small and the breakers thermal output is too high, so it would overheat.
    that said, those are known to be junk and they rarely work once turned off and and back on, bets bet is replace every one of them you have to service!

    • @throttlebottle5906
      @throttlebottle5906 Před 2 lety

      big yellow sticker on the side tells you, "no overcurrent protection". they rust/corrode inside from moisture and water and once flipped off, game over.

      exactly and they're known to be junk and once turned off game is over, replace the whole disconnect.
      in fact, as soon as you see one of them automatically assume it's bad and price replacing it, ALSO assume it's had one or both legs bypassed and test for power across Line-1/2 and both to neutral/ground!.
      out in the field you'll find gobs of hackwork with one or maybe both disconnect legs bypassed and you assume it's powered off jumping in hand first can land you multiple feet away or DEAD.
