The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea.
It costs £447,000 a day, that’s £163.5 Million in 2018, to operate the charities lifesaving service. As a charity we are reliant on voluntary donations to power our lifesaving work which we provide through an army of volunteers.
On Saturday 8th June 2019, the ashes of Dan Thomas were scattered in Weston Bay by the volunteers of RNLI Weston-super-Mare, following his battle with cancer in September 2018.
Dan, from Dudley, West Midlands, was known for vlogging under the username ‘PeeWeeToms’ where his channel has more than 150,000 subscribers.
He began the account to provide "inspiration, motivation or some get up".
His mission was also to encourage people to go to the doctor if they were concerned about their health to nip serious illness in the bud.
He died of a rare terminal cancer called sarcomatoid carcinoma after first being diagnosed in July 2015 and had numerous surgeries and therapies. It was his own condition that he reported on in his clips.
His loyal followers would be told “don’t give up, don’t give in”.
One of Dan's favourite places to visit was Weston-super-Mare, especially around the Birnbeck Island and pier area.
In memory of Dan, his family asked for a video recording to be made of the ashes scattering ceremony by the Weston RNLI crew, to share with his followers on his page. They also asked for donations to the Weston volunteers who are in desperate need of vital life-saving equipment and a new lifeboat station. This is because the old lifeboat station on Birnbeck Island became inaccessible due to the old pier being unsafe to walk on.
The RNLI volunteers have operated out of shipping containers on the seafront since 2014.

It's such a strange idea to see those ashes and to think that's all that's left of an entire person... What makes it even scarier is that anyone of us could be such a pile of ashes a year, month or week from now. I never really think about it until I come across videos like this one.

My mother was cremated as well. It's absolutely heart breaking knowing such beautiful human beings are eventually just reduced to ash and memories. At least has also been somewhat immortalized by the internet.

Thank you for allowing us to watch this ...it has nearly been a year since Dan passed I've thought about him a few times over the last few months and about the family wondering how they were all coming to terms with not having this wonderful young man around ....he can never be forgotten because he was such an inspiration to so many people he suffered greatly but now he is at peace polishing his wings as I speak and being very proud of them because he truly earned then

I am also an atheist and I have the utmost respect for everyone else’s beliefs and points of view. I rather suspect Dan did too. Why not keep your rather crass and unkind comments for a different time and place? I think we should all thin, is it true? Is it helpful? Is it kind? Before we post, particularly on videos such as these. Sometimes it is more important to be kind than right. This comment is not aimed at Emma none of yours but rather the person who pointed out that at one point Dan was an atheist. I am afraid I am not great with technology and do not know how to reply directly to a comment! In fact I am rather chuffed I managed to comment at all!

I take medication for severe anxiety, panic disorder and agoraphobia, which makes it near impossible for me to produce tears. I get choked up, but rarely tears. On the day of Dan's passing, however, my eyes welled up for some reason, and I'd only known him six months. What a genuine and charismatic human being. I wish his family all the best. ✌️
The only thing I can't relate on is the agoraphobia and I'm also sociopathic so it's hard to feel things but I felt something from this.

This is always a difficult ceremony to watch. Heaven knows what it is like for Dan’s family and close friends. Hopefully the family can derive some comfort knowing that their Dan will never be forgot, and that he had such a profound and absolute good impact on the lives of so many. 28th September is almost here again. 5 years now. I just found Dan. I have watched some of his journey, and it gives me great peace knowing he is in a better place. Sometimes it is hard to understand why God gives some of us battles we can't overcome, but if I've learned one thing it is we come to understand in due time. I think we all know why Dan was chosen. For one, he had the strength to face the battle head on. Two, he changed a lot of lives in the process and for the better. He now has his wings in the Kingdom of Heaven, for we all know he was an angel here on Earth and will continue that roll for our Creator.

Had to have a good cry after watching this...remembering all that he was and all the lessons he taught us. We all wanted him to live forever 😭😭 There will never be another just like him 😭

I can imagine some people being wired differently than others and disliking it because it's sad
I don't think they hit dislike meaning that they don't like Dan. Maybe they didn't like that Dan passed away. Maybe they did not like the way the ashes were scattered and would have liked a more family-centered ceremony. We don't know why they hit dislike but we must not assume it was with a bad intention.

My grandfather died yesterday night from Liver Cancer, and that gave me the motivation to come back to this channel and see if there was anything new from his family. I'm really glad to see they are still doing well and keeping Dan's memory alive... I miss both Dan and my Grandfather terribly, and these videos give me the strength to keep going
