I always thought it was so interesting how close the Fall of Constantinople was to Columbus' arrival in the new world. It was like the book of Rome had met it's end and immediately after the book of the Americas on the world stage was opened. That's a cool bit of insight that they were in fact connected, and the closing of the Silk Road was the missing piece. Thanks for that knowledge!

The Silk Roads is a very good and informative book on all sorts of products that were traded, and the impacts from those products on a global scale. Highly recommend that book!

Justinian is in my humble opinion one of the greatest Byzantine rulers ever.
Silk increased the wealth of the Byzantine Empire (or the western roman empire if you prefer) to it's pinnacle.
But of course his vision of rebuilding the Roman empire to it's former glory was exorbitant in many ways, and of course he didn't have the man power to sustain it for long.
    Thanks for the video!

Fascinating connection closing the Silk Road and the European Age of Exploitation. Any current plans on reopening the Silk Road? 🤔

Columbus was finding the road to "India" hence the name "Red Indians" was given to the natives of America which Columbus mistook for India.

Great info, Thanks, by the way did you already know? That on a later stage to your story the tea and Horse caravan path was established which became connected with the Silk Road! From Kunnming, Lijiang up to Dunhuang and Urumqi from there further to Europe the first tea in the world was transported, I had visited the museum in Lijiang/ ShuHe suburb, incredible
