    I am really getting into this project. I like the way you worked around the cut down fork covers, nice solution. Why anybody would do what a previous owner did to that front end by cutting those covers, because they got their hands on a wind screen with XVS 650 Custom brackets is just a puzzlement. It would have cost a lot of coin to replace those covers, around $138 USD & $141 USD respectively. My Classic came with the proper mounts & windscreen and saddle bags. I took them off too. Just looks better without them. Great project, glad you did this one!

    Looking good there! I just had to laugh, you pushed the fork through the triple tree the same way that I did :) I took the shrouds off as well and I be putting some gaiters on as well - which will be fun on an upside down fork - but heck I need to replace the fork seals anyway :)

    This was an awesome idea! The bike looks so much better, going to look into doing this on mine. Just a heads up, you need to change the speedo hub in the wheel, they have different gear ratios :)

      @iRidetas  Před 4 lety

      Thanks mate! Appreciate the kind words, when the weather calms down a bit ill take it out with gps and see what the error is and see if i can live with it or will try and source a custom speedo drive!

      @gregoryblair9810 Před 3 měsíci +1

      Bit late at this date but first thing off my Classic was the fork shrouds. Never cared for the fatboy look. But I am not running gaiters. Question: how far off is the speedo going from 16 to 19 with same drive gears? And how did the brake caliper fit? Did you switch the rotor, too?

    • @iRidetas
      @iRidetas  Před 3 měsíci

      I took the gaiters off recently for a different look. Brake caliper/rotor the 19 inch stock, gear ratio is different about 20km/hr from memory but the aftermarket speedo i have is not super accurate either! Cheers

  • @davidpalmano2262
    @davidpalmano2262 Před 4 lety +1

    I think you may need the speedo drive from the custom to make you speedo accurate. Looking good

    • @frankysworld
      @frankysworld Před 4 lety +2

      @@iRidetas I think David may have a point here as the circumference of the larger wheel means more distance covered per rotation I think the drive would need a certain ratio to reflect that.

    • @iRidetas
      @iRidetas  Před 4 lety +1

      I really like it. I prefer a skinny front tyre. There is plenty of meat under the guard bolt holes you could ream them out and elongate them too.

    Do you happen to have a link to the specfic gaiters you used? I'm gonna order some to do this exact swap for. I'll be doing the 19" front as well next season when I get my new white walls.
