Is there a more heartbreaking lyric that’s ever been written? I’m singing one of my favorite songs of all time in my studio today. Nico’s version of Jackson Browne’s “These Days” is as perfect as you could ever want a song to be. While my version pales in comparison, I wanted to share it with you in case perhaps you’d never heard the song. (Perhaps you remember it from the Royal Tennenbaums?) The lyrics perfectly encapsulate the feeling of awareness of one’s own mortality and one’s limitations. But the song overflows with a lush, sweet sadness that expresses itself ecstatically in my mind
