I know, there are, of course, some exceptions like PrinceWhatever. Not saying I don't like metal, I actually really do. It's just all the deathcore, black metal stuff that I don't understand. I grew up with pun rock music all over me, as well as really bad pop music. But hey, that is just my opinion.

Anger ventilation for me is listening to stuff like Three Days Grace, Simple Plan, dark sounding music, punk rock, reading/listening to grim-dark fics, etc.
My problem with metal as a genre is that it all sounds the same. The tuning is so low, the drummer sounds he's having a seizure, the vocalist sounds like he/she either has a lot of saliva in their throat or that they swallowed helium tanks (wait that's Justin Beiber, never mind), and the bassit is the bassit.
I prefer rock, classic rock, punk rock, orchestral, electronic pop, EDM, some techno, a little metal, etc.
I'd much rather listen to grindcore than a single bad pop song, but don't expect me to be happy at the end of it.
