Great review, Bart! Thanks for sharing. I just bought one and am about to review it as well. I hike with a DSLR and a long lens, so this is perfect for me. I was concerned about the price, but after your 1000 mile report - wow! You really do get what you pay for.

I made a visit to Mount Laguna California, which is along the Pacific Crest Trail, this last April. I was stationed there in the mid 1970’s when the Air Force operated a Radar Site on top of the peak. At that time we use to see maybe one or two hikers a month with gear, and usually a single walking stick. The two days I visited in April I must have seen 60 hikers along the Highway S1 portion of the trail. More than half I saw were equipped with Trekking Poles. Thanks for this post. Interests me in getting a set for myself!

April is the start of the PCT season, so like 3000 people are starting. Farther north in Northern California, I've walked all day and don't see anyone.

I love the control you get with poles. I saw a guy at mt. Rainier jogging with them, he was flying, that’s what sold me.
It doesn’t take long.Good for stability, but holding them out front like two extra legs, less fatigue, up hill behind you. better full body, move faster. Downhill is fun. I’ve the same camera mount pole but don’t care for the mount, I like your lower shaft attachment. I have a few of your recent hike videos still to see, did you use that in the selfie documentary shots ?
