i feel truly sorry for the generations of people that will never have their heart touched by this beautiful classic country /bluegrass music,, i know of no one who sings with such feeling... todays nashville sound,,,, well, they are just fresh out of their diapers.....
Great old song from when there wasn't any real distinction between "folk" and "country" - they were thesame thing. They were songs that ordinary people could, and did, sing at home. I grew up with my dad singing and playing this, though he stopped after his own mother passed. It's still the kind of song we sing when we all get together.
this old song takes me back many years to a real life story of something that really happened to me. thank you very much to the person that posted this
I first heard this song by "Genial Gene Hooper" when he was on the WWVA Jamboree in Wheeling West Va. when I was a kid in Toronto. I never forgot it. Ken, Toronto
What a great singer and song...and...i think i know that steel guitar player from Johnny Burke and the East Wind Band, from the caribou club, in Toronto,in the seventies.am i right? would love to find out if thats who it is..

@docsavage98 I always thought of Mac Wiseman as the Burl Ives of Bluegrass.
