I'm here going into week 9 after a major shoulder surgery. Thank you for the great information!
Thank you for this video. I am almost 2 years from RTSR and this helps immensely.
Great video ! Thanks for tips.
Amazing video
Thank you. I'm facing shoulder replacement surgery and even though I'm 65 this year, hope to return to weight training after a 5 year hiatus. This video gives me a little better idea of what to expect. My surgeon is saying I should restrict myself to 25 pounds, but I'm having difficulty accepting that. I've always trained heavy because my natural state is a small body, but the size I was able to acheive in my 40's was amazing. I don't expect to get back up to a 375 pound bench--a bit more on deadlift and squat, but I do hope to get back to the upper 200's again. Possible? At my age I just don't know. More important is certain activities not common to most folks. Expert with bullwhip, archery, knife throwing, etc. Hoping I can resume that.
I’m 5 weeks post op and the pain has been immense ….. I felt like I haven’t slept in a month.
Really well explained . My shoulder blade is still not 100% stable 6 months post op. I started weightlifting with small weights regardless and I m very careful. I had a frozen shoulder that delayed my progress. Thanks for this video 👊🏻
Rotator cuff exercises make it stable
@Moen i m now almost 10 months post OP and my grip is not as strong . My shoulder position is not perfectly stable and I m definitely not as strong . It s still progressing but it s clear that It will never be to the strength and control it was before. Concerning Deadlifts, I will never deadlift again. I don’t feel the need to test my shoulder that hard. I m not doing pull ups either and not sure I ll be able to do some again. At least not in the next year. My surgeon told me in the beginning that it was a very long process to get full strength back and not everyone gets it. He told me I d have to be careful for at least 18 months after surgery. Athletes who go back too soon end up back in the surgeon s office.
@@asselinpower What kind of surgery did you have?
@@Superman-xr1oh rotator cuff repair
@@asselinpower I had the same surgery. It's been post 7 months now. Inner rotation is still somewhat uncomfortable. My shoulder is still rather weak. My physical therapist told me that the last 10% will take a while to get back.
I had shoulder labrum repair 2 months ago. Physical therapy has been slow because my bicep and chest muscle tense up during exercises but I’m gradually improving. Last week I fell down the stairs and I heard a crack in my shoulder and it did hurt for couple minutes then it calmed down after icing. It’s been couple days now but my bicep, chest, anterior deltoid muscle and very tense post that incident. I reached out to the surgeon asking if could have torn my labrum stitches. He said to wait a week and see if I gain back my motion to where it was before me falling and thinks the likelihood of me injuring the surgery site is very unlikely. What do you think ?
I undergone 4parts proximal humerus fracture surgery with philos plate and screw now I'm in 10th week doing excerices but my shoulder moment not rotating fully still struggling still hw many more weeks will take me to rotate fully and straight up
I wish i could see their faces
after yr or two after rotator cuff tear surgery why cant we do all those exercises w lite weight
i must say this very nice knee there don't warry about the shoulder
Is it okay to do bicep curls with weights?
Hi. I’ve had total replacement of both shoulders 6 months apart and 6 months later after my last operation I’m back at the gym and I can do bicep curls with 30 pounds but I don’t push it. I’m 66 by the way and replacement was the best thing I did to get back into a normal life without pain.
What would you suggest for 59-yr old man, had rotator cuff tear for nine months but effect so mild (and no working out, sadly) I didn't know I had one, though something seemed off.
Finally had it checked out; dx with MRI as 30% partial tear of left supraspinatus. Therapy last two weeks at small town PT place. I have concerns. They have me doing cable lateral raises (thumbs up). I like movement but wonder if such movements help or hurt.
movement is best.. I;m 66....very physical job ..I had both shoulders operated on for tears... if you have any pain dont do that excercise...google a post op shpulder strengthening program even tho you didnt have surgery...go to phase 3 or 4 bc you didnt have surgery....a lot of you tube vids out there such as this......for stiffness , strength etc an excercise plan is key.. icing after,,,heat before if stiff...stretch before also....dont be afraid...take it slow...but take it!! If you dont use it you lose it....
@@bottanoog9545 but "pain" vs muscular difficulty are two different things, correct?
I have to do this surgery and I fukin hate it 😢
Bro I’m up for rotator cuff surgery 😭 shoulder been hurting everyday for the past 3 months
I’m supposed to get full replacement in both shoulders and I’m dreading it. I’ve had the problem for years and have been putting it off, usually because it interferes with my work schedule. Even though I’m 75, I still work a bit. Every orthopedic surgeon I’ve met with wants to do a reverse and both companies who manufacture the appliances have had recalls on their product which is another reason why I’m holding off for now…want to see them iron out any complications.
I feel you brother. Going to have a total shoulder reverse replacement ( my third shoulder surgery). Not looking forward to it but haven't much choice.
It is painful and pain lasts for few months.
How severe of pain are we talking about? I'm trying to make a decision on having a shoulder replacement. BTW, cool avatar, lol.
Better to understand you without your masks 😷
Just get better at understanding words
Mark. Some of us have hearing diffiulties, it is amazing how much hearing is improved when we can see lips moving.
So only athletes can go back to doing normal and critical compound lifts?
I disagree. Plenty of people who are not “athletes” who care and are in great physical condition. I for one (3 weeks post op labral repair and bicep tenodesis) will return to doing my bench, chest flys, lat pull down… etc. that is once I hit my preliminary milestones in recovery.
my surgeon told me no wide grips..
Mine told me to probably not press heavy ever again
I was lifting heavy before my surgery with a full tear. You don’t use the rotator cuff to lift - only to stabilize.
@@joebot9309 u gotta stabilize when lifting
@@marklanston7256 Mine too, but I haven't had the procedure yet.
Redo the video and get rid of the masks.
Listening to those muffled voices because of those ridiculous masks just goes to show how this video hasn’t aged well.
