    I'm still learning to complete more of my gybes. Some things that have helped me so far:
    1) keep eyes on the horizon. Looking down won't help balance. Even if the wing is in the way. Eyes up. As if the wing wasn't there.
    2) Front foot pressure. As you accelerate through the down turn, it takes more pressure to keep the foil down. Maybe your 'hip' suggestion is helping with this.
    3) Relax. It's fun. Tense muscles are the enemy of balance. Be Chill.
    4) Use ankles, like a skateboard, to adjust your turn to keep the board/foil under your weight. This is a faster and more nimble adjustment than your center of mass. Practice carves on a skateboard in the parking lot.
    5) Be sure when you enter the turn you don't have either foot way towards the weather side. This will cause you to start turning back (the wrong way) in the middle of your gybe when you've released your back hand. Bring your leading hand up and over your head to help with this and overrunning large wings in light air, too.
    6) Practice 'entering' the gybe by doing a LOT of short 'down-turns' on small (even tiny) waves or wakes. Practice turning deeper and deeper and then back up. If you notice a lot of 'swing weight' in these downturns, your mast may be too far back. If you have to move back from taxi/pumping position to foiling position, then move the mast forward.
    7) Don't panic when you get through a gybe on foil. Relax. Pump the board if you can bring yourself to do it. Keep your wing way 'out' for power. Gently add forward foot pressure until your board is almost splashing down before switching feet (you'll splash down momentarily, but this is a HUGE help for stability).
    See you on the water.

    Dude, I have to tell you... I'm wingfoiling for more than a year and was struggling to do any transition... Suddenlly, I watched this video and it miraculously worked! Thanks for all these amazing tips! Today I did my first jibes!

    Very concise information for the jibe and nice simple instructions for switching feet. I'm currently exactly at this point in my learning curve, so this is exactly what I need now. I'm using this to make notes for my next session, hopefully tomorrow. Thank you!

    It took me ages to learn how to jibe because my body couldn‘t keep the balance during the phase where you go downwind and are unpowered. Things started to come around when I learned how to dock-start.

    Great video. I like that you mentioned windsurfing. I think a video about jibing the wingfoil for those of us that windsurf would be useful. There seem to be big differences, cuz i can't do it winging!

      I have seen this problem a lot with ex windsurfers learning winging. I might have to make a specific video for that. But my biggest advice for a windsurfers will probably be to learn to trust the glide of a foil. No need for constant power in your wing

    Great video. Lots of little tips most don't cover. When i gybe left foot forward i can manage to get round with a little bit of switch riding before falling back. But when i gybe right foot forward the wing doesn't seem to fly as easy and near enough gets back winded, Even when i let go earlier it seems to be unbalanced i never get to the point of switching hands as the wing falls to the outside and pulls my body and i end up falling back out of it. Any tips?

    • @kyriakosgiakoumaroswingandwind
      @kyriakosgiakoumaroswingandwind Před rokem +1

      Hey! Sorry for the late reply. CZcams hasnt been showing me notifications lately. I think the best practice for you would be to learn to trust your foil and learn how far it can glad without power. This will make it easier to switch your focus from board to wing whenever you need. Also, you might just not be "forcing" the wing into place enough because its your wrong side.
      But bottom line is that we all manage better on one side than then other. Eventually it will click with both and you will get it.
      I hope you already solved these problems and are now on your next move but if not I hope this helps you. If you still have trouble come find me in Rhodes, at Reckless Riders and we can work on it there 😉
