Emi Martinez really descended from the football heavens out of nowhere to become Messi's last guard on goal and boy he did a great job.
Even more crazy when you realise Emi made his national team debut just 10 days before 2021 Copa America and then went on to win everything.

Even crazier, Martinez was the sub of Armani (River Plate goalkeeper) but he got covid so Emi replace him for the Copa America, hes been our hero since then.
Maybe if Armani had not got Covid we would never saw Emi magic hands
Emi did well on the pitch but all those things after the match was very unclassic. The Mbappe baby, things he said in the dressing room, disgusting.

The Mbappe baby was throw at him by the fans, at least you have the context for it, right? Here you have it: Emi had a baby during the copa america so he couldn't see her. When they played the final Messi used that in his speech for the team, saying that they had to win so Emi could "hacerle upa" to his daughter, that became a meme till this day. So when Emi was pictured holding the trophy like a baby for that viral moment, so when he came back to the country people throw a babydoll with an Mbappe face implying that Mbappe is their son. Its absolutely not that deep and in any case is the wrong from the fans for MAKING A FUNNY JOKE he has nothing to do with it.
The dressing room lmao, you cant understand the football culture if you have never played it, they were celebrating and driking alcohol making jokes they were happy, what the fck do you expect lmao. Emi was the first to console Mbappe after the loss, they were just celebrating in the dressing room it's not that serious wow. There's no mature way to celebrate, they were respectful to all the french players in the field like they should. If they didn't go live to show the celebration you would never saying that shit, you are exaggerating things here. Not a single Argentine has burned a French flag like they did over there with an Argentine flag, just saying tho.

I'll honestly watch 3 hour long podcast with dibu martinez. and thank you for not being biased about the tournament. this is the first time I've enjoyed an international tournament more than club competitions. I've fallen for football once again.

That was a brilliant save, and honestly in terms of both quality AND importance of the save, the only one I remember that comes close was Dudek's double save against Sheva in extra time in the UCL final, while I think Dudek's was better because it was a doubel save, I somehow think Martinez was bigger because it was the WC final and Messi's legacy was on the line (for some).
Also, remember the match (Arg) with Australia, when Dibu saved that last second shot to tie. We would have gone to a penalty shootout in the round of 16.

Emiliano is a good person, all the players insult and annoy each other on the pitch, which is why they always cover their mouths with their hands. Football is about skill and sport, those who try to detract glory from Emiliano only watch the World Cup, they don't know anything about football.

Then to say he was bringing on centerbacks for fun? His big changes in the first 40 were Thuram and Kolo Muani, who changed the game in the second half and on another day Muani wins the game. The next changes in the second half were Camavinga and Coman on who were great too.. maybe the chat is a little too distracting because I'm not seeing any CB's😂

- England plays beautiful football to the point I was supporting the team from that side of the bracket and wishing for an Argentina Vs England final.
- Argentina has a good team, but most of all, they really wanted to win.

The only thing I don't agree with here: That Argentina weren't the strongest team in the tournament.
In the past, we've had "teams" with far more depth on paper. Look at the mid-nineties. How we never won with Batistuta is almost absurd. However, it just goes to show that what's on paper often doesn't translate on to the pitch.
This was a TEAM. These guys all adored one and other. It was a brotherhood. They were fighting for each other. So in that sense, this is probably the strongest "team" we've probably ever had. What locker room drama did anyone hear about? What drama with the coaching staff? Zeeeeeeeero. These guys are like one big family from the top all the way down to the cooks! It was really beautiful to see.
With that said, my honorable mention goes to Morocco. What a joy they were to watch, and props to Bounou for having great taste in Argentine teams.
