    Using metal tongs on the non-stick surface = bad move. Please use plastic tipped or equivalent tongs to avoid ruining the non-stick coating.
    Just like a normal bbq, move and reposition food as it cooks for even cooking.
    As for the base being a heating element - it will be, just doesn’t go right to the edges. And that’s probably a good thing as allows fat and oil to drain to the edge and stay cool not smoking and catching alight.

      Good point should have used plastic tongs for sure, have added a set to the camping rig 👍 Hadn't thought about desirability of cool edges, makes sense.

      I estimate I used about 120 watts (10 amps) for a 15 minute cook up- which I reckon is a very good return on investment 👍
