Don't use on bike chain. WD-40 is a penetrant. It will go inside the O/X rings, expose the grease inside the seals and damage the chain.

WD40 is not recommended for chains coz it has chemical agents/properties and gets into O rings of chain and damages the rubber inside the O rings and chain starts giving a permanent noise. Then u have to change entire chain and sprocket set. Kerosene or petrol is a good cleaning agent and it vaporizes immediately. For rest of the parts it's ok to use WD40 👍

    • @jaywhoisit4863

I only use WD40 on my chains. It’s perfectly safe with the advantage that dirt doesn’t stick to it very well. I get 50 thousand km on my chains without any worries. It does not damage O rings.

Very nice, however never use WD-40 on sparkplugs instead burn them with a weed-burner of something! Why a sparkplug can handle very high temps an rather burn it clean.
For the rest, perfect use! however only to clean because it leaves an oilfilm and this will attract dirt, rust etc so i rather use Litium soap based grease for the footpegs, shifter standard etc.
Btw another top-tip spray the complete engine with WD-40 let i soap overnight en clean in with an rag end use a stick to clean up the difficult area, then clean the engine and it will be like new.

No please not on a O- or X-ring chain! It will get into the links and mess with the grease inside! WD-40 can not deal with the high forces on a bikes chain! Need to use grease!
For your chain use Diesel / Kerosene for cleaning and ideally chain grease. That is cheaper too!
I would not use WD-40 on any rubber parts as some rubbers can be damaged by WD-40. Remember it's not just oil it can be aggressive loosening rust!
Use it on bolts and mechanic parts that do not need to transfer a lot of force. WD-40 is not viscous enough to lubricate under high pressure!
