Most mexican have indigenous dna that comes from asia. Native americans came in America from Asia through the Bering pass in Alaska 15000 to 25000 years ago. That’s why mexicans among others have asian dna. Current mexican populations are mostly mestizos, a mix of indigenous and spanish peoples. Now, Spaniards have a strong genetic background from people from North Africa (in particular arabs). Remember that the south of Spain was in fact an arab califate for 800 years. Additionally, there were also a jewish population in that region. All of that explains why a regular mexican have dna from many parts of the world.

Regarding Filipino, historically Mexico had ties with the Philippines. Like a lot of Hispanic influence in the Philippines came from Mexico. The Manila Galleon Trade between Acapulco and the Philippines definitely played a role. Not to mention, for over two centuries, the islands were ruled by the Viceroyalty government based in Mexico City. This led to many officials in the Philippines being a mix and vice versa.
Unlike you, I'm part North African (part of why I wanted to do the DNA thing; I was once asked at an MRI place in a Middle Eastern neighborhood if I was an Arab but when my mom and I responded we were Cuban, they were shocked). Which doesn't surprise me as my great grandma is from the Canary Islands, and Canarians are descendants of a mixing between Iberians and the Berbers who came over from what is now Morocco. And also unlike you, I only have around 3% indigenous ancestry. Which again, doesn't surprise me as Cuba is one of the Latino nations with one of the highest percentages of White-Latino. According to my results I even have ancestry from Venezuela, that adds up as one of the indigenous groups that came to Cuba came from the Orinoco basin of western Venezuela. The most surprising part about the results was finding out that around 1% of my ancestry is Cypriot. Cyprus was already on my bucket list, and now I have one more reason to make a visit.
Another thing that was surprising to me was learning about my British/Irish ancestry, as I've always knew I had a high percentage as my dad was of Irish descent but never knew where they came from. Finding out where specifically within the UK and Ireland blew my mind.

    • @Biobele
      @Biobele Před 2 lety

You people seem not to realize that before Europeans came to Africa the Africans themselves were inter mingling and doing all the things humans do.
So it is true that Spain had Equatorial Guinea as it’s colony as well as parts of Morocco.
However the Africans that ended up going to Spain or the Americas would have likely married other Africans from any other African tribe or country knowingly or unknowingly.
Also although Spain only had Equatorial Guinea as technically its sole colony in Africa they had control of other parts of Africa for years. Most people don’t know this but Spain had control of parts of Nigeria for many many years from from 1843 to 1968 there were some breaks in between 1958-1966
In that time there was no strict laws on how to treat None Europeans so many Europeans had second families, concubines, love children, sexual relations of any kind both forced and consensual with these people, there was really nothing stopping them. It’s the same for the slaves and other Africans who were shipped to the Americas.
Imagine You are a sailor or navigator or explorer or cabin boy or slaver or doctor in the 1700’s and 1800’s see a black girl you like tied up on a boat about to be sold scantily clad she doesn’t speak your language, you don’t speak her language no European court anywhere near and you wonder what it’d be like to have a go at her and you take advantage of her remember there’s no condoms or birth control pills.
There were waaaay more interracial relationships than people wanted to admit due to shame, taboo nature of the topic etc, the equivalent of it today would be soldiers abroad, American base in Japan has more mixed couples and sexual relationships than the soldiers would like to document or let Americans back home know about. Even during world war 2 there was a branch of the allied forces known as Burma boys they were African soldiers taken to Burma they had many mixed black and Asian children many till today never knew they had kids there or have relatives in Africa and Asia because the women were forbidden from such relationships and the men were deployed back to Africa with no benefits and no money to contact Burma again
It also happened in the UK when the black American soldiers entered UK and had relationships with the women one case was a married woman who only realized the child wasn’t her husbands child after she gave birth and the baby looked mixed this one is very famous topic here on CZcams
If you read a lot of real history books you’d understand most of these things and nothing will surprise you.
I remember reading about mongo park (British explorer) living in the house of a black African woman in Africa who was the mistress/wife to a white European guy, I was surprised that kind of relationship existed as early as that in Africa where everyone knew these people were together and this was a time when some Africans hadn’t ever seen White people and whites hadn’t understood Africans or mapped Africa fully yet infact they hadn’t even mapped Nigeria fully let alone Cameroon and central Africa.
Many people today will tell you they’ve slept with 2 people while they’ve slept with 4 how many will admit that they reaped someone ? It’s the same as it was then it was even worse then imagine admitting to your fellow Europeans who felt they were superior that you found Blacks attractive to the extent that you’ve been having relations with one of them? At a time when Europeans described Africans as animals with horns who couldn’t speak and had no culture and value system and no language and no capacity to form advanced civilization
You would be ashamed or afraid to admit you have a child with or for a member of such a group that’s basically what happened and why many people today are surprised they have African ancestors no one wanted to talk about.

Personally I don't think I even look asian: I have wavy/culry hair, use same make-up shade as eva longoria/frida pinto, my eyes are small but oval not "slit" or "asian". I look mexican straight-up. But I guess when I wear my hair in a bun, wear prescription glasses, and an Andoer sun hat people think I'm asian cause that's the only way people thought so 😅.

The Filipino genes isn't surprising because of the Manila Galleon trade between Philippines and Acapulco back during the Spanish period. In those times, there were Mexicans and Filipino who came to the Philippines and Mexico respectively and integrated in society and in some places in Mexico, there are those descendants of Filipinos. In the same way, there are Filipinos with tiny Native American ancestry that are descendants of Mexicans as a result of that trade.

Outside of the Hispanic Caribbean Basin, it is very much a neglected element when talking national identity. Countries in the Southern Cone (Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Paraguay) and the Andes (Peru, Bolivia) are just as bad at ignoring the African influence. Central America (Panama, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica) and the Hispanic Caribbean (PR, DR, Cuba, Venezuela and much of Colombia) recognize it more because of the role that the coastal culture (which is heavily African) plays in their cultures and that they have visible minorites of straight up Black people, whereas the African DNA is much more diluted and mixed in the other countries.
